[*]Split Tirol into an Austrian part (modern day Südtirol) and one owned by the Bishopric of Tirol.

While I would like to see more provinces in Europe, especially in northern Italy, I doubt that this specific change should be made. I don't really like the "Trent" province we have in game right know, for the simple fact that it does include two different cultures (so both making the province Austrian or Lombard would be wrong, even if I'd prefer it to stay Austrian, for gameplay reasons). On top of that, two seperate Trient/Südtirol provinces would probably be pretty small, especially if compared to the rather large "Tirol" province (which is surprisingly missing Vorarlberg, btw). Not to mention that having a big "Tirol" province and two smaller provinces wouldn't really make sense historically, as this region was a single, unified administrative area (well, that's put really simple, but I doubt the game can or should represent the intricities of Tirolean politics). So you either have to make it into a single, big province (which would be to big), split it amongst Tirol and Trent (like it is now) or split it up even further into roughly equal sized provinces (which I'd prefer).
The best solution would probably be to split the region into the provinces of Landeck (western part of current Tirol province), Innsbruck (central/eastern part) and Bozen/Meran (southern part of Tirol province and northern part of current Trent province). The remaining province of Trent (which could probably be extended a bit south, so that it isn't to small) could then be made to be of Italian culture.

However, I guess that this would be a bit too many provinces for the area.

Sorry, think I got the name wrong. The one I want to reshape and split is Trento (or Trent?). It is definitely not too small to be split. I have done it in VeF.

Edit: Basically, split Tirol like it is in Victoria II.

That's how I understood it, actually. My suggestion was more like: if you split Trent/Trento into two seperate provinces, the big Tirol provinces should be split too (like you already said it is in Victoria II)

Yes, the best would be to have Trent, Bozen/Südtirol, Vorarlberg, Innsbruck/Tirol and Lienz, but we already have Tirol, Lienz and Trent, and I think Bozen/Südtirol is more important than Vorarlberg.

I just came here to say that I hate you. Denmark as a whole is ugly due to geography and you want to make more impossible-to-click provinces? Yay for more small islands which strange looking borders!

On the bright side, at least they're adding army/navy templates so I will probably have to click less :p

Man, I really understand your love for your motherland and maybe a province or two for Portugal would be actually cool, but if I had to follow you I would need to add 20 provinces to Poland - and I don't wanna that because I know some freakin basics of game modding/programming and you can't just satisfy every little nation and every little city in the world.

If such level of detail has been introduced to the entire world (hey, all nations are equal, you Polish nationalist ;) :D ) this game would walk slower than Stephen Hawking (sorry Stephen).

Remember Magna Mundi? This magnificent hardcore version of EU, which was epic mod to EU3 and was going to be commercial game? With hella lot of advanced sophisticated mechanics and provinces? It's developing process finished with the complete failure, because guess what, suddenly people realised creating functional and playable video game is more than 'put lot of realistic stuff everywhere'.

I think the entire Europe needs at most 20 - 30 more provinces. No, Paradox won't add home city of every one of us and every micro - nation. Nobody cares.

I would put few more provinces in Iberian Peninsula, Italy, Scandinavia, Ruthenia and Balkans. That's all. Current HRE is barely comprehensible due to the insane amount of factions packd in insanely small provinces.

Honestly, sometimes I would like to make every member of this forum obligated to spend one week learning EU4 modding and basic programming, to make them understand how the games look like inside and why putting 20 000 new provinces and variables would be a horrible idea :D

Yes, the best would be to have Trent, Bozen/Südtirol, Vorarlberg, Innsbruck/Tirol and Lienz, but we already have Tirol, Lienz and Trent, and I think Bozen/Südtirol is more important than Vorarlberg.

IMHO, the ideal distribution of provinces would be something like this:

xohg43vxg7p.png

1 - Landeck
2 - Innsbruck
3 - Lienz (stays the same)
4 - Meran (this would roughly be Südtirol, but as a name, Meran fits better)
5 - Trent

This is just a basic suggestion (well, not even that, as I doubt that there will be new provinces in this particular region) but it would offer some benefits:

- Trent could be made Italian, as it should be
- it would be better able to represent the occupation of Tyrol in Napoleonic times, with the Italian south going to the Kingdom of Italy and the German north to Bavaria
- one could even include the Tyrolean rebellion against Napoleon in a simple way (once the timeline gets expanded a bit): just make (German) Tyrol start as an independant country in 1809 at war with France and its allies. The latter should occupy the capital of Innsbruck. Not that I really expect something like this to happen, but P'dox did actually represent this rebellion in EU3 (although in a simpler way).

But yeah, probably this would be a bit too detailed for the region.

I don't think that would be too detailed and it is almost exactly the way I would do it, but I would rather make the province called "1" more or less shaped like the modern Vorarlberg and make it an OPM called Montfort.

There's only one province that would have to be added to make me buy a tremendously expensive DLC, and that province is...

UPPER GUELDERS!

For the sole reason that I'm from Roermond, and that I want it to be the capital of a province, and Roermond would actually be a feasible capital in my opinion:rolleyes:
(sorry, just couldn't resist posting in this thread)

Also funny:

Near Roermond, there also is a town named Montfort.

Gelre, Friesland -> Gelre, Friesland, Groningen, Oversticht. Or a Netherlands shaped like in Victoria II, but I think it will get too crowded for that.
No, that would be just fine. Exactly the way I am doing it in the mod I am working on.

As a Norwegian I agree that Norway should be split up atleast a bit. Bergenshus should be divided into several smaller regions like Bergen, Rogaland, Sogn og Fjordane, etc. Bergen was an important center of trade and exports from Norway.

No. Just no. Norway was the poorest area on the planet. Giving Norway even 1 province would be a joke to all other countries on the planet. Every. single. country. are before Norway in the priority list of getting more provinces.

The Balkans and Scandinavia could be reworked for sure.
Also Southern Italy for Gustav Adolph sakes...

I always thought Italy had a bit lackluster detalization compared to German and French regions. Also Iberian Peninsula lacks provinces and BT\manpower: every single game France wipes floor with poor Castile\Portugal
