Additional ethics and behaviors would add a lot more variation to the game. Currently too many alien species end up acting in the same way, especially if you play in huge galaxy.

There's plenty of examples of both ends of the 'honorable' axis in science fiction; and neither side is innately villainous. It'd be interesting to play as deceitful pacifists, or as honorable materialists..

Could be fun, especially for the fanatic variants -- the downsides to endless backstabbing are obvious, but imagine also a fanatically honorable civ unable to deal with any sort of deceit or deception.

Probably would be a great addition for an intrigue update.

How exactly will it work? Deceiver will always deceive and ... that's all?

I think it will be better as racial trait of a new, hidden type. It can give your race good bonuses but limit or force player (or AI) to some choices in all game events, including diplomacy. And it can be interesting to have projects for finding out these hidden traits.

Like the other ethos, it wouldn't have much direct effect on the gameplay.
Just the same as the rest of them: some stat effects (such as +trust growth for the empire), modifiers for species relations, tech focus, and occasional alternate options for the events. Though I'd imagine that Honorable aliens would be less likely to cancel treaties.

And deceitful ethos wouldn't necessarily mean that they're a species of backstabbers. It would also be suitable for the inscrutable mysterious alien stereotype, and for the trickster type. Such as the Morrigi from Sword of the Stars.

Well, i still think it to small for an ethos. But it's interesting anyway. If you can expand it somehow it can really work.
