This is just for brainstorming, for a potential long-term future project. Sort of a disunited states/shattered union type of setup. What I want to know is what everyone thinks would make good revolters for regions of the United States.

The only one I'm set on right now is a union of Oregon/Washington/Idaho as 'Cascadia', with Oregon's governor as its president/fearless leader. They'd also have cores on British Columbia, Alaska, and northern provinces of California.

I'd keep California, Texas, and Confederate States as revolters for the resepective regions. But what else is there? I want to know what you have to say about this all.

One thing I do want to have is a native American nation somewhere in there. Maybe the Apache or Navajo?

How about the Sioux Nation?

Okay, here's the partitioning I've come up with so far, based on suggestions. What you'll see is the controlling faction's name, followed by controlled US states.

Commonwealth of New England: New Jersey, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Delaware, Rhode Island, Conneticut, Mass. (can't spell it right)

Republic of Texas: Texas, possibly New Mexico

Deseret: Utah, Nevada, western Colorado

Confederate States of America: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee

California: California

Confederation of the Five Nations: Oklahoma

Sioux Nation: North Dakota, South Dakota, possibly eastern Montana and Wyoming

Republic of Cascadia: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia

Kingdom of Hawaii: Hawaii, possibly some Pacific islands

And perhaps a much smaller, weaker United States sandwhiched in between. Oh, and Quebec would be independent too. They'd control all of Canada east of them, and possibly Maine as well, due to 'historical' events.

Howabout some interesting new ideas?

Perhaps a Mississippi Confederation that spans the Mississippi delta.

Or a Rocky Mountain Empire that spans the Rocky Mountain range into Canada.

A communist nation involving the old "rust belt" regions around the Great Lakes and into the northeast.

A surviving portion of the United States being little more than a ribbon along the east coast.

It could be interesting to try new ideas.

How about these:
Commonwealth of Massachusetts (Massachusetts and Maine - Maine belonged to Massachusetts until the early 1800s.)
a communist state in California (there are several far-left people there)
Republic of Virginia (encompassing Virginia and West Virginia)
It would also be interesting to have city-states, like in ancient civilizations. For example, you could make New York City a small country with only southern New York.
You could do that with several cities. It would be interesting to make a country named "New Orleans" and have it control Louisiana.
