Most veterans know the day 1 chores: design empty corvette, strip fleet of alloys, unempoy security ...

Here's a new one that will noticably increase your starting economy: Replace the Crew Quarters with a Hydroponics Bay!

This tweak is exclusive to Void Dwellers since they start out with the Hydroponic Farms technology.
And how much do you gain?
Well, your useless starting fleet will have their upkeep lowered by 25% while docked. This amounts to a total saving of 0.3 energy and 0.09 alloys per month.
In exchange for that you gain base +10 food every month for a one time investment of 50 alloys.

Market buy price of 50 alloys: 260 energy
Market sales needed for 260 energy: ~360 food

Or in other words: It would take you 3 years of selling the extra food to get the 50 alloy investment back.
For comparison: It would take about the same time to get the 100 minerals investment for a +3 mining station back, not counting the energy upkeep.

But pure value aside: This frees up at least 1 pop that can do something better than working hydroponics!

I'd say this is definetively worth doing!

Disclaimer: I call this "new" because I just realized it and have never read about this anywhere. Was this known before?
