I use Kasperus' map at present, and gave Neopolitan as the state culture of Naples, and the second culture of Aragon (instead of Italian - which I have renamed Latin, purely because I think it looks better), whose primary culture is obviously Catalan.

I have given Neopolitan as a state culture to the three Neopolitan provinces, Sicily & Sardinia. The rest of the Italian provinces are thus Latin, but I might free up another culture tag and make it Tuscan or something for a north Italian culture, leaving the Papal States with Latin or something.

A similar north/middle/south idea you use for Germany, except in Italian.
Well if you could give the full list for provinces I think agung could see it himself.

No, Maltese.

You are quite right. The Maltese culture is an unique mixture of Arab and European culture; Maltese is the only semetic language with Latin alphabet, for example.

Yeah, it's the only province that uses it, though, so I may get rid of it if I need another tag. That or Albanian.

Sardinia and Corsica should have the same culture which name I can't give unfortunately, latin culture doesn't sound correct for northern Italy as it is more related to southern Italy.
So Italian is more correct for Northern Italy, just let's think of Kingdom of Italy and Kingdom of Sicily...
if we look at the medieval roots, the birth of Comuni and such the split of culture should be considering the boundary of the Empire in Middle Age (Ancona and Siena should be the last territories of the HRE) Latium is more a mixture between the Northern Italian (city based governments) and the Southern Italian culture (Angevin feudal system).
Malta Sardinia and Corsica have completely different cultures from Italian or Neapolitan, IMO!
The same is to be said for Venice (only lido province!) closer to byzantine culture...

Event fixes for Scandinavia setup.

As far as I found there is only something should be done with historical representation of the Orkneys issue. So without making these series of events about the dowry and King James IV etc, I just offer to add it to this event (in NOR events):
Code:
action_b ={ # Bargain with the nobles
		name = "ACTIONNAME3243B"
		command = { type = stability value = 3 }
		command = { type = revoltrisk which = 48 value = 4 }
		command = { type = treasury value = 1000 }
		command = { type = infantry which = -2 value = 5000 }
		command = { type = cavalry which = -2 value = 10000 }
		command = { type = artillery which = -2 value = 30 }
		command = { type = domestic which = ARISTOCRACY value = 1 }
		command = { type = domestic which = CENTRALIZATION value = -1 }
		[color=red]command = { type = provinceculture which = 251 value = anglosaxon } # To simulate swedification of Skane in 1670-1680s
		command = { type = provinceculture which = 1461 value = anglosaxon }[/color]
	}
}

The commands here will change the cultures in Skåne and prov. 1461 to Anglosaxon, not Swedish/Dakota.

How do you people find the new culture setup games? Have anybody tasted it already? It is interesting that in my two latest games Sweden was less successful in controlling Norway, as well as there were less problems with minors in Germany...

I've finished Italy ;)

In the process of doing Germany when Kasperus & co. finish telling me which provinces need which cultures.

I don't intend to split Scandanavia into the three main nationalities, as you chaps have done. I have Nordic & Viking (as well as Ugric and whatnot to the east, of course). The Viking provinces are:

Faeroes, Orkneys, Iceland, Jutland, and the provinces running up the Norweigian coast.

Well, I know there is a problem having those three Scandinavian “sub-cultures” (Danish, Swedish and Norwegian), but IMO it looks better than “Nordic” and “Viking”, coz they are all “Nordic” and all were “Viking”. It’s just synonyms. ;)

And could you post Italian proposal?

Bit late, but hey ;)

I have Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Norse & Ugric for Scandanavia.

I have been well informed by various Swedish friends than it is correct to have Nordic in Iceland, Greenland and the Norwegian coast.

Italy?

Italian, Neapolitan, Sardinian, Sicilian, Maltese.

Yes, but it required too many culture tags, which we cannot afford presently. ;) Anyway Norse is related with “Norwegian” in game sense (coz it should be the state culture both for Norway and Denmark).

I agree that it will be good to have them to limit the advantages of the Italian minors’ expansion in certain degree, but the common opinion before was to leave it one Culture.

Also I personally would add better only North Italian, Neapolitan, Maltese and Venetian. ;)

Bugger, I forgot Venetian! That is in my game, I just forgot to list it here :(

I always change Magyar to Hungarian, and Anglosaxon to English, etc. :)

State cultures of Scandinavia...

Norway: Norwegian, Norse
Denmark: Danish, Norse
Sweden: Swedish, Ugric

:)
