The ad clearly says three new games will be announced and one of them is from CO.
So yeah, I guess it's a new game indeed, not a DLC for Cities: Skylines - tho it might be announced along the show too.

Surely it's C:S2? C:S has proved amazingly adaptable but there are definitely things that would be included in the base game if they were starting again.

Personally I would love to see a timeline in the game (so that you would get new types of buildings and vehicles as time passed, as in most other citybuilders).

Not that I'll have a PC capable of running C:S2 for another five years, but it's a Paradox game so that should give enough time for the inevitable launch bugs to be ironed out. :p

that would be great, but also very complicated and I don't know if the authors would take this direction. I watched an interview with Marina, who said that in the next part of the game there will definitely be dynamic weather, i.e. changing seasons.

I'm on the fence about whether or not I want to see the new game be CS2. On the one hand, it would be great to see what their vision is for the next generation city builder. On the other, I like the fact that CS can run well on my six year old gaming rig.

Sadly (for me, doesn't really matter much to anyone else, ;)), it runs poorly on my 2013 laptop.

I would like to see a CS2, something not too different than CS, but significantly more advanced, and better integrated.

A historical timeline was central to the competitor game that created this genre all the way back in 1990. It was also a feature of Cities in Motion, the CO franchise that prepared the way for C:S. If it could be done then, it can be done now..... but even better! But you are right that it's a design decision and we have had no hints that they are moving in this direction.

Just wanted to point that C:S was not intented to be their final game, the game they were aiming to create. It was by any means - according to the interviews with CEO, just another step towards something they used to call Colossal Cities. C:S success was just... an "accident" that probably and should have bought them time and resources :)
Still waiting for that one to come :D

The question is whether it has something to back it up or whether it's just his assumption. Because CS2 is quite easy to guess, but he doesn't mention the 2 new expansions that will be announced for CS1 in the video.
