Afaik it has been fixed. I received a new version on steam yesterday evening (afternoon for you ;)). I now have a different checksum than you did in the video. With this version I'm not getting that event anymore.

I hope you're going to do another video.

i second that, maybe the sound of writing or folding paper might be more appropriate (and less annoying) given that we're going to be hearing it a hundred times each game session

+1 to that. or any other nice sound that we won't get mad at after the 1000th time...

Your commentary is fun to listen to. It was odd that your levies kept increasing by leaps and bounds. I wonder if in that scenario the levies begin near depletion.

The map looks frickin beautiful now with the semi-transparent kingdom colors, ornate coat of arms, topography, etc. It's such a dramatic difference from the original DD on the map.

I'd still like a projection more similar to V2 though. The proportions of the map are squished in some places more than others.

In my opinion, you could have waited for the right moment to revolt, since the Golden Horde was at war with many many people. And they could probably have let you go, since they were in so many wars at the same time. Also, you shouldn't have declared war to Hungary. In your place, I would have tried to ally with them at the very beginning, instead of Bohemia.

Also, is there a way to turn down the little music in the council screen? I figure it makes a good ambiance, but not always (for example when your spymaster tries to kill you, I don't think this music is very appropriate).

I think you had a chance to get independant, as the GH was already running around putting down other revolts. I noticed they never stepped foot in your lands. If you kept going, getting better tech and upgrading your cities, I think it would've gone alright. I think i'll try this when I get the game. And if I get destroyed, you can say "I told you so."

But I really did enjoy your video. Keep it up!

I think the levies steadily increasing was due to better and better relations with my vassals, another important reason to keep your people happy.

As for using the wrong strategy with declaring war, I was trying to show more "game" than actually attempt to play "right". I could have sat around and done nothing, waiting for a long time, but then I would have had to fill a lot of dead time.

You need a lot of money for mercenaries, not just the initial cost but the monthy fee (15-30 per month) as well. I have used them effectively in other games when I had a lot of money to burn.

I'm currently playing a game as the (former) Duke of Bosnia in the same area. I successfully broke from the King of Hungary, but my succession laws were set to gavelkind and I had three sons, so when I died, I lost 2/3 of my titles. Then, my brothers started claiming the rest of my titles and now I am a lowly count with three territories. But I do have claims on all my former titles I can usurp at the right time...

Nah, I can only record so much. A half-hour video kills my computer for hours encoding and uploading it. I'd rather play the game instead :)

Lucky for me, Hungary has seniority succession, and when the king of Hungary died, guess who went from 3 province titles up to 15, including the King of Hungary and all of the Duchies I used to own? This guy.
