Seriously, what is this Kingdoms of Amalur thing? Never heard of it before this thread, but it's come up several times now...
It looks like fable tbh.. I am also a big RPG fan and that game don't spark any interest whatsoever. so well I doubt they are worried about that game
I quite agree. If the plan is to increase publicity then a new marketing strategy might be in order to replace their current one (which seems to be 'don't bother doing anything').
If the aim is to avoid competing with bigger-budget releases, and to get people who will be spending their time and money on one of the other games released that week then I'm afraid they're in for a shock as most people do not have the money to throw around like that, especially not these days. For most people it's going to be a case of buying whichever game most interests them, and a week isn't going to alter that. In which case it would make more sense to release a week earlier than a week later.
Indeed. I think it would be better to compete with the other games, but then again, from my expierence the easiest way to get people into Paradox games, is to invite them over and let them try/watch games, I made a few people buy EU3 based on that.. trust me they didnt find it interesting before they actually tried it
If it is, as some have suggested, a problem with Steam, then that's unfortunate. Perhaps PI shouldn't be limiting their distribution options so much. Personally I've never had a problem with Steam, but I've often got the impression that PI and Valve haven't always been on the best of terms and was hugely surprised when they announced this almost-Steam-exclusive thing for CK2. I just hope that decision isn't coming back to bite them, and all of us.
I use steam and have been since the first day.. I never had problems myself but I have seen alot of issues when it comes to game releasing and problems with it. so this might be a steam issue sure.
You're not the only one. Perhaps those of us who take the time off to play games are idiots really, but it's infuriating all the same. I for one will try to learn a lesson from this and not get so ahead of myself when the next exciting game comes out
Still, that doesn't ease the annoyance now, and especially as this is only one of 3 disappointments I've had from PI very recently (AHD also being delayed, and the new project announced the other day not being EU4)
Never plan to far ahread in my opinion, I have seen countless people get burned due to this over many years. sure we can still be abit disappointed about various stuff (I am not disappoint about EU4 not in dev yet, it will come in time)
