The 'have a woman break the bad news' sort of worked for me actually If I can't shoot the messenger, so I guess I'll have to keep the arrow in its quiver.

The demo better kick ass. If I may hazard a suggestion, how about making the demo a little less limited than usual in exchange for this? Paradox games are nothing without patches anyway and demos never get patched... you could easily afford to release a pretty generous demo in early Feb, no way it would hurt your sales. Just saying

So A House Divided and CK2 are both delayed by a week on the same day. Yet AHD says it's due to a distribution issue, while CK2 claims it's for marketing purposes.

Hardly, steam is a distributor, also it advertises games, and it has been documented that games steam put in the spotlight+some form of discount(ie preorder bonus) sell well

Agree 100%, A great demo has never hurt the sales of a game... quite the contrary.
Great demo's have actually got me to buy games I never heard of, or had interest in before.

I wonder how the demo is going to be like. I hope that we get to, atleast, play one dynasty from 1066 till the end of the timeframe, or atleast a few hundred years. Maybe the Capets or William the Bastard's dynasty?

I suspect we might all be playing as William the bastard on 7th Feb . If it is locked to one dynasty it will make an amazing opportunity to have competition between players or at least comparison of each players success. Earliest Conquering of England. Most prestige. Largest Demesne, Most Vassals etc etc.

I'm sorry, but this is just stupid. Perhaps if you considered it earlier, but to delay it by a week when it's only two weeks away? That's terrible marketing. People might already have made plans, or at least been prepared to spend the days around release playing the game. And the fact that this is just a marketing ploy makes it even worse. We've already paid for it (or at least reserved payment for it ), with the understanding that it would be out earlier. And there is nothing stopping you from releasing it at that point, except some far fetched marketing strategy.

I'm actually not looking forward to the demo. I rather have the full game instead of just a slice of it, however yummy that slice might be. I'll download it, fire it up and see if the rig can handle it. But that'll be it. Now, if Paradox would release the manual beforehand or even the strategy guide to the pre-orderers, that would be nice. I would like it anyway.

Yes, I would really like to be browsing the manual for a bit before the game comes out.

Each to their own I guess. Personally, assuming we can believe the 14th Feb release date, I'd prefer to play the demo [not a beta demo, a fully featured demo] for that week than look at a pdf. I know, call me weird.

You must know that's not at all going to happen, right?

It's a demo, it's not going to have a hundred hours of gameplay in it. They'll give you 10 years, maybe 20 if you're very lucky.

This is a funny statement andas well as totally unrealistic stement.
For hardcore Paradox fans like myself it is not an issue, we will buy the game no matter what, but most people are not like that. However for more casual players the Demo need to be good and get you intersted enough to get your wallet out and buy the game, if the Demo provides enough funtionality out of the box for free you will not spend the money on the game.

This have been the case for me with several nonparadox titles, where I have only been mildly interested in tha game, iPad games certianly but also games like Ruse I never bought the game but only played the Demo.

AHD was delayed because of the GM not being delivered when it should have been. aka someone named Johan fucked up counting timezones so we missed the delivery for it to be 100% guaranteed to be ready by 24th.

You are right, I thought that Victoria 2 demo was the whole timeframe, but you could only play as the USA, but now that you mentioned it I seem to recall that I started it many times over because the time ended quickly.

Admittedly, I hold a great deal of anger and frustration but unlike many other it is at the fan base and not Paradox.

Months ago there was an overwhelming uproar toward Paradox and their developing partner (the name escapes me) over the state of SOTS2 at release.

Many people held the same opinion over what should have been done, that the companies should have waited longer and simply told the costumer that they needed to push back the product, among other things.

Now, this is exactly the step being taken by Paradox on their IP, and although it may be for marketing reasons and not developmental, the concept is the same.

Yet there is still so much whining and anger thrown around at PI it almost makes me laugh from the irony and sheer difficulty of the fanbase. Do I want the game out? Yes, but I understand, and nothing will change the release date regardless. So till then, let's just wait patiently for the game, play then demo into the ground, and cry out with jubiilation on the new release day.

Let Paradox be, if anyone is excited to see this through and see it successful, it is them. If this helps them achieve the numbers they need to bring out great projects and products such as the one on Febuary 14th, then so be it.

I for one have waited long to play this game, and I can wait an extra week.
