This is a known issue. We have a list of VP's ready to distribute, but it was somehow forgotten when we did the initial beta release.

Thanks for the interest, but if you could please direct further questions to correct threads. There is a ***Read This First*** plus Metathread which has links to important topics, such as VP's.

Here's some of the recent fixes as well as what will happen to sort out some still outstanding:

Missing tech descriptors - to be provided and found by Steele
Lack of VPs - to be scripted by SK
Lack of starting resources - to be put in country.inc file by SK
No Infrastructure in Sanusia - it's the Sahara desert - what does one expect?
Russia not in Entente - Sorted by making Russia democratic until the outbreak of war
Duplicate German events - fixed
Duplicate 1915war event IDs - fixed
Lack of starting techs - to be put in country.inc files by Steele
Immediate French defeat - fixed: caused by dissent increased due to DOW on Sanusia
Models.csv missing - To be produced and included soon by Dibo
India, Egypt, Ireland not revolters - now fixed
AH, Serbia colors wrong - now fixed
Jebel Shammar Nejd puppet - now fixed
Oman not British puppet - now fixed
Provinces 542-543 and 554-555 forts - now fixed

Error message when start scenario

When I try to start the 1914 scenario it gives a succession of errors:
(Using 101b on a clean 105c install)

1) 'Database mismatch' right at the start before the 'Initialising Provinces' message.

2) Another 41 'Database mismatch' errors while 'Reading Scenario'

3) Another 'Database mismatch' somewhat later.

4) Errors in the events\usa.txt file.

5) Another couple of 'Database mismatch' errors.

I've tried finding what is causing some of these problems:

2) since there are 41 leader files this seemed like a good place to start.
The IDs in the leader files overlap with the IDs in the minister files. Is this ok?
Also the minster_chi & minister_u12 IDs both start at 81001, I assumed this was causing at least one of the errors but if I tried changing one to use the vacant 46000 numbers it still gave the same number of errors

4a) Some of the errors are in the events 58420/58421:
command = { type = add_division which = [transport0] value = [none] }
I've tried removing the square brackets and tried 'transport' instead of 'transport0' but can't get this to not give an error. Can you use 'add_division' to add a naval unit?

4b) There are also errors in events 58422-58425. Removing the square brackets makes them work ok. (Although the spelling in 58425 needs correcting.)

This looks like it will be a great mod.
(It looks good now after getting past the startup errors.)

Allenby,

From what I gather, the MP that goes into the country.inc is starting MP (Where the bulk of the MP comes from the mobilization events and the MP gained monthly.). I am also workiing on that monthly MP, but that requires a change to the province.csv (to alter province MP), however for some reason the only way I can get that to work is to drop the altered province.csv into the standard HOI db file. It does not want to overwrite it if you put it into the db file in TGW folder. But when I get done with it I shall send it off to Steele (or whoever is compiling it this time) and let them see if they can get it to work.

Shadow Knight, I think the fact of the matter is simply "mod-dir does not work with province.csv or ai files".

angel, those errors are caused by:

1) id clash in heavy_aircraft_tech.txt;
2) missing .csv files in tgw\db\leaders and tgw\db\ministers. All the files in <hoi>\db\(leaders|ministers) should have an empty file of the same name in the mod, to avoid stock hoi leaders to leak into TGW and clash with identifiers;
3) duplicate ids in france.txt in tgw\db\events
4) Steele's buggy usa.txt ;):p;
5) duplicate ids between germany.txt and 1915war.txt

1, 2, 3 and 5 should have been fixed in 1.01 if Steele hadn't jumped the gun releasing it :), 4 was introduced by 1.01. Ample proof that Steele is really trying to sabotage the mod. :p

Event problems

Thanks Gwalcmai, after digging through the files I'd found the france.txt problem and managed to hack things so the leaders files didn't give any errors.

While playing (as Autria-Hungary) I found a couple of other problems with events:

AustriaHungary.txt event 3001 - showed EVT_G3001_DESC instead of the correct text. Looking through text.csv I found this should be EVT_3001_DESC instead. Others in the chain also have an extra 'G' in the event description.

Influenza.txt event 56200 - the 1st flu event for Britain has a start date of 2-January-1914. All the others start 1-October-1918.

Wars vs Sanusia

In the handful of games I've started while looking to fix problems, France, Russia and Britain all declare war on Sanusia. In the last one:

4-jan-1914: France and Russia Declare war on Sanusia
4-jan-1914: France had Mobilisation
4-jan-1914: France had France has been defeated.

The 'France has been defeated' event (defeat.txt 20800) must have been triggered by the dissent hit from declaring war on Sanusia.

Either a way need to be found to stop this declaration of war or the dissent trigger on 20800 needs to be raised.
---
As a separate issue, by declaring war on a nothing country like Sanusia, the 'Mobilisation' event fires giving a lot of men. This is because it fires as soon as the country is at war with anyone.

Should it be changed to only fire if at war with a major power?

Then how can we get province and AI files to work? :)

well I know for certain that if you over write the standard HOI province.csv that the effects change. But other than that I do not know.

Heavier than Air Tech problems

1) when scroll to bottom of list of techs on 'Heavier than Air' tech tree, get CTD
2) Basic/Improved/Advanced Scout Fighter gives New Model: Two Seat Fighter
Basic/Improved/Advanced Two Seat Fighter gives New Model: Escort Fighter

Can fix (1) by adding 'Extra' techs for levels 9-11 (similar to a number of other techs) and an extra '}' at the bottom of the file.
I assume (2) is caused by a mismatch between the tech file and the units file.

Might we be stuck with just making changes to the country.inc files, while leaving the provinces as they are in the normal version?

These are being worked on.

Well Monthly manpower comes directly (unless you have a leader that gives say a x2 bonus) from the provinces. That is a big part of the manpower work, giving a slow increase in MP over time (besides I hate to think all the work/hours spent typing that stuff up would go to waste.) As I stated before the starting manpower is in the country.inc file, not the monthly average.

We could have the province.csv as a seperate downloadable file (an option that I do not really like), that is recommended for full enjoyment (changes to starting IC/MP/Resources/etc.), but have disclaimer that it will need to overwrite the standard HOI province file, so make a backup before doing so.

But that way the AI and players are going to missing on out on whole lot of extras (especially a whole lot of MP) that will make the mod run better.

The province.csv problem, I don't know. CORE just provides a new one and creates a backup of the old one.

As for the ai files, they can be placed in the base ai directory with names like tgw-<tag>.ai.

Gwalcmai: You caught me. I was hoping to prevent this project from ever getting off the ground. Wait, did I say that outloud? ;)

About 101, I saw something I could fix, and I uploaded a fix to it right away. Of course, I introduced more problems as well, but that's beside the point.
