What enemy armies are you talking about? If you're attacking some less advanced force, of course you're going to win easily...perhaps you could give some examples of what combats are too easy?

Sorry for opening this new thread but I didn't find any help elsewhere.

To be more precise: Playing Germany I'm used to attack Poland in sept.'39. My infantery has Soft Attack 14, Org. about 60 and I have some basic-Tanks 75mm (SoftAttack: 13).

I wonder why I win every battle with these troops, even when I'm totally outnumbered. Example: 3 inf-units attack a polish province with 8 polish inf-units. Though crossing a river, my 3 units win the battle within a few days. That's strange. Normally my units are supposed to lose, aren't they?

There's something strange, too: none of my attacking units gets any casualties in the nighttime, just when they ought to get stronger casualties in comparison with day-time-fighting.

There's somethin wrong, isn't it?

As I said, Difficulty is very hard/aggressive.

That's why I ask myself, if I have to install additional files except corev09 to get c.o.r.e. work proper and challenging? Or are there further possibilities to setup game-options, which I did not notice?

During night time both sides get a massive modifier to ensure basically zero casualties. This is done by design to extend battle durations and to reflect the fact that on the corps level it was quite rare to carry out night actions.

If you are winning battles where you are heavily out-numbered then this is typically due to 1) poor AI scripting (a possibility) 2) enemy has near zero organisation (for example if you bombed them with air units) 3) massive tech advantage.

For a tough game you may want to try playing another country as Germany tends to be quite easy in the hands of a skilled player regardless of difficulty level :) I can recommend Poland in the 1939 scenario as a good challenge, it lets you experience the other side of that massive tech advantage.

Tips to get manpower

As italy in C.O.R.E. I had to manage ways to get manpower. I began with less then 100 and only 1.5 manpower per month! As soon as the war broke out I had 2 events that increased it to me, but still it was not enougth and I had write "manpower" on F12 screen... :p
So I read on the forum that its good to have a capital on Europe or Africa or Asia, I never knew that i could get substantial manpower from anexed countries... Anyway, I ask you guys if you know other ways to get manpower? Also any tactics to raise a good army without costing too much manpower.

I have not seen a FAQ which sufficiently addresses this issue in CORE. But the question is better asked in the CORE forum than in the general one. Perhaps a mod will move it there.

As to the original question, the only thing you can really do beyond annexing or demanding new territory is to check for ministers who raise your manpower. There are at least three different ministries which have possible minister-types who raise manpower. Also, there are a number of CORE events which can add manpower for a variety of nations. You should check the events file for Italy and see if perhaps you are missing some potentially profitable moves on that front.

Italian Manpower

Virtually all the countries have lower manpower until they go to war, then the recruitment picks up. I don't recall exactly how that works for Italy since they begin at war with Eithiopia. The big MP event for Italy is "The Fall of Libya". Once the Italians lose control of Libya they get 400 MP to boost the military in order to defend the homeland.

scenario editor mod

Hi ummm new to the website so forgive me if i posted this in the wrong place but i was wondering if they was anyway to put a scroll bar in the scenario editor to make moving around easir in the editor instead of having to type in names of provinces.

Hmm - this is a bit "negative" in a way - I think most people would agree that a Human Italy inavriably does better than the historical one (would be hard to do much worse!). The above event seems to "reward" you for doing badly ! Perhaps there should be some MP boosts for doing well - perhaps taking Malta, or Egypt, or even Greece, or some MP boosts for still holding certain African territories at certain dates ? If Italy does well and is successful in the Med, it will need the extra MP to build garrisons, etc - but currently, it is probably out of MP to do so.

The CORE team doesn't maintain the scenario editor - Paradox themselves do. And considering that HoI2 is a few weeks away, there is no chance of new features getting added to HoI1's editor. I suggest you use Notepad - it's bug-free and powerful, and the HoI event script is easy to understand.

I have already reported this bug for CORE v0.7, but it seems as if it´s still there...

When proposing the Scandinavian treaties of non-aggression, Sweden´s first choice triggers the event "Sweden refuses pact", which is correct, but the Swedish choice (CEVTACTA_702086), which is displayed, reads "sign pact".

The second Swedish choice (CEVTACTA_702086) reads "sign pact with Germany".

Obviously the first caption should be changed to "Refuse pact" in the text.csv at line CEVTACTA_702086

Concerning the New Order-events in CORE I wonder if it's supposed to be possible at all to achieve. The US "invasion of England"-event fires after I go through with the Seelöwe operation and then the New Order won't fire. Is this WOD, or will it be modified? It might work if Egypt is taken first, but that's not very easy since the RN will be much too strong by then...

The USA event has quite a low chance - only 30% every 20 days - and it cannot fire unless USA warentry is at 100% and you're been annexing neutrals. Don't chop up CZE in March 1939, and don't annex Benelux and Norway until NOW has occurred, and you can avoid it entirely. After all, once ENG is on your side the rest of Europe has no chance, so you can clean it out at your leisure.

Hmm .. Why does the game CTD when i play .. ?
Im playing C.O.R.E 0.91 ..

I've even tried playing Syria and Turkey but still it seems to CTD on an exact date..?

is there an answer for this..?

Need a bit more information than this please. What's the date you get the CTD? Which difficulty level are you playing? Do you have 0.91 installed over 0.9? Are you getting any particular event when the CTD occurs (check history.txt after the crash)?

I Don't know the exact Date coz the CTD just comes out of the blue sky ..
U know when ur busy on some war going on and u don't think about the date or anything .. Just that battle .. etc .. :)

Well yea i believe i installed it correct..
We'rent i suppoesed to install the 0.9 first then 0.91 .. then a Setup file appears in the Mod-Core folder and i click on that and then it begins the install ..

About the Date .. The only thing i know about it is that it happends on the 1939 Scenario somewhere in the beginning of 1940.
