I'm pleased to announce that C.O.R.E. v0.85 is now available for download. This is a bug-fix release aimed at resolving known issues and improving game balance. It contains more than two thousand fixed text entries, many event fixes, new tech pictures, an updated Spanish translation, tweaks to air unit stats & tech, AI fixes and model updates.

Where to get it:
Download C.O.R.E. v0.85 by visiting the C.O.R.E. website  The download size is 2.2MB.

Installation instructions:
This is a patch and can only be installed on Hearts of Iron v1.06c with C.O.R.E. v0.84 already installed. If you do not already have C.O.R.E. v0.84 you can download it from the official website or install it from the Platinum Edition release of Hearts of Iron.

To install the v0.85 patch you need to download the installer. When you run it make sure you follow the instructions and specify the path where Hearts of Iron (hoi.exe) is located in the installation target dialogue. Happy gaming! :D

Hurrah!

Thanks for everything, Steel, and thanks to the whole CORE team.

This and Victoria 1.03c on the same day. What fun!

EDIT: The readme is short and sweet, and I wonder if anyone can explain what (if anything) has been added to CORE to deal with the air stacking penalty?

...

I am pretty sure this:
- tech: revised light_aircraft techs that benefit only AI

may have been done to offset the AI advantage a little. It doesn't fix the stacking problem, but if it is the same change that was discussed on the board, it removes a few extra bonuses he was getting.

Later,

Someone should sticky this thread, I was wondering why Steel's signature said .85 when the top post was .84.

Also I found some problems using old games with this new patch. Might just be me though.

:D Ok now i know what i am doing this evening :D

Core

I think I read, that either or both: Hearts of Iron Platinum or HoI 2, will come with CORE already installed?
Is there a series of links dedicated to CORE so I can read up on it? Do they have there own forum, and or web site? I am a fairly non-techie person so I just wanted to start the learning curve!
As always thank you in advance for your help!

Keep on gaming
John

Is this versioin of CORE compatible with multiplayer?
All versions of C.O.R.E. starting with 0.84 should be multiplayer-compatible since the mod-dir bug in HoI was fixed in 1.06c.

what is the differance between the .85 patch and the new HOI P.E.core mod?is one more advanced than the other ? and i notices some new tech photos but didn't see the techs that they are for namely 9997,9998 and 12503 i beleive. they look to be new in flight refueling techs?
thanks for all the great work

The Platinum edition CD contains a version equivalent to C.O.R.E. v0.84. The v0.85 patch can be installed on C.O.R.E. v0.84 from the web or the Platinum CD.

The extra images are for some techs that will be added in the v0.9 release.

We previously operated with public forums (here at PE) and a private collaboration tool for development (the wiki). With the new forums we will shift both the main public forum and the development focus to coremod.org where all registered users can see what the dev team is discussing. I expect both the PE forum and the wiki will become less important over time. For example I would still post new version announcements here but for details on our roadmap, the latest polls on 'should we do A or B' or the latest screenshots you should go to coremod.org.

Just wondering: does the opening of the new forums mean that this one is no longer the primary place for CORE information and discussion?

In addition to what Steel said you can be sure that the CORE team will continue to follow and comment the discussions here, but taking the ideas the next step to implementation as well as the majority of work concerning bug hunting/fixing will most likely take place at the new forum.
