Installing both 0.84 and 0.85 you should have two icons on the desktop aside from the vanilla HOI icon. But if you only did have the vanilla icon, you probably made some mistake with the core installation. Putting the core installations in the wrong directory perhaps. It is easy to do this.

As I remember it, at least one of the installation packages warns specifically about this.

I assume you are playing Germany....:D

Not sure what CORE specific conditions are but, looking in the file under db/events/ussr.txt folder, for v1.06, thats not the Platinum version.

One possible conditions is as follows:

Paris has fallen to GER
& GER atwar with SU
& Leningrad has fallen
& Stalingrad has fallen
& Moscow has fallen
& Baku has fallen
& Magnitogorsk has fallen
& JAP and GER not allied
& ITA and GER not at war

** SU territories not necessarily lost to GER, but not in SU control.

OTHER condition is:

IF GER and JPN in ALLIANCE then

Paris has fallen to GER
& GER atwar with SU
& Leningrad has fallen
& Stalingrad has fallen
& Moscow has fallen
& Baku has fallen
& Magnitogorsk has fallen

Sorry but I dont have CORE installed so, I cant be more specific, but if there is a difference, you need to look under the CORE scenario folder, something like:
..\scenarios\CORE\db\events\ussr.txt

AFAIK, you also need to have chosen the historical occupation plan.

You will have more luck if you ask in the CORE sub-forum, though.

That should have nothing to do with it realistically I think. The logic would be? The harder I treat the population in the occupied ares the more eager stalin get to offer peace?

But if it does in CORE you should get that information when you choose occupation plan.

So no bitter peace if I chose rosenberg plan?

U.K. Manpower?

What happened to the U.K. manpower pool for each month it is now at 1.1 per month in 1936? Why the big drop in this version 8.5?

No Bitter Peace if you go with Rosenberg. Instead, you liberate all those Soviet republics, and eventually get an event to set up Vlassov as a fascist Russia. You can then pretty much ignore the EF, as Russia and the USSR will duke it out in a civil war.

As compared to which previous version? MP levels in the pre-war years have been tweaked for almost everyone. Not to fear, you'll get the big boosts to MP when the time is right...

C.O.R.E. New Order on the East Front

Right,

It's 1945 and I can't get peace with the evil bolshevik Soviet Union, I've chosen the Rosenberg occupation Plan and have liberated Ukraine, Byelorus, the Baltics and the Caucasus. I hold Leningrad, Murmansk, Archangelsk, Moscow, Stalingrad, Kubychev and Magnitogorsk. Where o where is my Final Victory? Who can help me with this, I'm reading the event files but can't seem to find anything.

Right,

I don't know if you noticed, but there *is* a CORE specific forum, where all specific CORE related questions should go... I didn't move your "Soviet strategy" one, as i felt it was a general question regardless of the mod you use. In this case though, as the New Order events are not found vanilla, your question doesn't belong in HoI GD.

Core-di Options

I have just purchased the platinum edition of HOI.

I have started with the CORE scenerio included with the game.

Started playing as Germany and have found that each month my starting DI reserve is going DOWN without me performing ANY actions. Started with a DI reserve of 25 points.

When I go to the Diplomacy screen and check out the options/actions I can perform, ALL options are greyed out with the exception of Declare War. I have looked at about 10 countries and this is the only option available. This is in the January-April 1936 timeframe.

Bug or is this just the way this scenerio was designed???

I believe you start with a negative amount, hence it decreases (in absolute terms) until reaching zero. Then it rises again allowing you finally to do diplomatic choices.

Yes, what bennyp says is correct. Some countrise which historically were isolated in the world community start with a negative DI value. Events and monthly increases quickly restore this but it provides a small head start for the Allies in influencing nations.

Siberia and New Order?

Ever since Siberia has been given the option of becoming a country, I've always noticed that it has a 0 manpower gain. Could someone fix this? It shouldn't take that long to fix. It always gets on my nerves when I see this 0 Manpower gain Siberia, they should atleast get 1 Manpower a month growth, maybe even 2.

Also, the New Order for Germany (in the West), I can never seem to get it to work. I take England and wait, and wait, and wait, and the event never happens. Anyone know what's wrong?

you also need to control gibraltar and suez and the US must not be in the war yet.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already (if so my apologies and just ignore this post), but a few events seem a bit strange - though the scale is real small.
First, the Afrika Korps in the Bledow desert gives supplies to the player rather than costing and it should be the other way around right? I think also one of the Hungarian and Yugoslavian state visits also provide supplies, rather than costing.

Now there was one thing more... if only I could remember it. Guess I'll have to get back to you later :)

Thanks for a great mod!
