We are practically at the end of the testing process - game is stable, mayor issues are resolved... Still, when you download the game, feel free to post any suggestions/ideas/bug alerts. :D

All I can say now is that while mod is based on the 1.06, it will handle a bit different. Number of divisions is lower then in vanilla HoI, but battles are longer and campaigns are rarely fast... Terrain is very important (better develop those river crossing techs from the start...), urban fighting is a bit more common - lots of the new material "sneaked in" this release.

---->urban fighting is a bit more common - lots of the new material "sneaked in" this release ----> So have u made/declared more urban provinces in this patch, like Amsterdam, Warsaw, Kiev, Rostov, Smolensk, Stockholm, London, Paris, Sevastopol, (even though it was a very little city but still had some of the hardest fightings/bombardments/sieges in the war due to its fortifications) Tobrok with the same argument, Washington DC, Rome(even though it was declared a free city) Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong. Some of the cities are for gameplay purposes only and I must admit that I never focus much of the asian theater of war.

Making this post I noticed that Washington DC only had 1 vp point( in 1.06) , same as all the other US states, is it me or is that totally wrong? Should'nt WAS. DC not at least have 25 vp same as NY, Houston(nice oil), LA, and San Francisco, and maybe even Chicago and/or Detriot.

I said it's more common, not "common". ;) Size of the provinces in HoI doesn't really help in making many provinces urban-like.

It's done on purpose, to avoid too easy puppeting.

Have you added any urban fighting techs?
I guess submachineguns and assualt rifles would have some effect on effiency in urban terrain, and there could be new techs to, any things like that added?

Yes, we have added bonus to those and some other techs. Many effects of the techs are different then in 0.71, but there is no new technologies (except one for Germany only) in this release.

Is CORE Essentially Unchanged for this Release?

In my opinion, CORE 71MP is excellent.

Is the new release going to be designated .72?

Are the manpower constraints, and most events, preserved in the upcoming release? Based on comments I have been able to read, my guess is yes, but now we will have much improved naval and air combat involving AI nations.

Will the first release be suitable for multi-player?

Thanks,

Terhune

I guess we will call it 0.8. In our earlier plans 0.72 was the codename of the patch release for 0.7, with all the bugs from 0.7/0.71 corrected, and 0.8 was the "big" release, with lots of new stuff.

Still, HoI 1.06 changed more then we've expected, so we had to change practically all AI files, many existing events, units speeds, tech effects, balance combat modifiers and so on. While coming release is somehow similar to 0.71, it differs in few important elements, so it will be called 0.8, not 0.72.

About MP version - I guess both versions will be released at the same time, or MP vesion will follow SP shortly.

I will try to build the MP release today but will not have any possibility of stress testing it (one of my PCs no longer runs HoI after a gfx card downgrade) so I'm relying on community feedback for testing.

Good to hear about the tech changes. Does that mean you converted land and air doctrines to the naval doctrine cost level? That would be great, one thing I'm really looking forward to.

If its a late night central europe release, then its probably around 6 pm +-1 hour for you. It's like waiting to see a reaaaaaaly hot chick to undress. And when she does, ohhhh boy. I've got no nails back on my fingers, maybe I should consider starting to smoke.

Yeah, we changed the cost/time model as it's been pretty much 100% positive feedback.

It is coming, it is coming. A shameless plug - how do we, CORE devoted priesthood, find and fix the bugs so quickly? Why, after all, the CORE events directory alone is over 3.5MB in size. The answer is, the CORE File Checker tool, written by yours truly... :)

It is essentially a python script. First you download and install python 2.3, from www.python.org. It has a version for most platforms, including Windows. Then you download my script from:

http://www.inet.hr/~ddjanjes/CORE/

Then you run it from a command line:

c:\python23\python [location of your checker script]\checker.py [event or inc] [location of your event files]\*.txt

And it spits out a horde of errors, usually... :)

Redirection is your friend, use it. CORE File Checker can check event files or .inc files, the OOB section in particular. This script works on normal HoI files, as that is what CORE files are. On my Athlon 2600+, runtime for checking the entire CORE events directory is 12 seconds, so the script is speedy.

Anyway, the more bugs we squash, the less patching we have to do. :)

Did you guys prepare for the ground defense efficiency changes done by 1.06? I noticed the SuperAI Bundle had some issues with it: Linkage

Yes the necessary changes for this have also been made as there was some techs using the old system that had to be reworked.
