I actually like this, as it will give greater importance and significance to event chians like Lend-Lease and such. The advantage of signing on to L-L becomes historically as impoertant as it was. Also gives greater effect to other chains such as the German Mission to China, and the other aid events.

QUESTION: Does tech sharing have an diplomatice influence? If not it should. Giving away technological secrets should have a chance to favourably dispose the beneficiary to the sharer.

May I also suggest that the amount of influence be comensurate with the level of technology as a relationship to the existing tech level of the beneficiary. So, a level 4 tech given to a country currently at level one would have a greater positive influence than a level 2 tech given to that same country.

I totally agree with you, but this feature isn't present in HOI and can't be modded since it's hardcoded...! :(

Need Help...followed directions!

Gentlemen,
Any help will be appreciated:
After experiencing occassional HOI/CORE mod crashes, I uninstalled HOI and deleted the directory IAW instructions on the down load page.

I re-loaded HOI, downloaded mod 1.05_NA , patch 1.05c and picture pack 0411 in that sequence. I then down loaded CORE_v0.7 followed by CORE_v0.71. In theory, I should have a clean game modified to v0.71 and ready to play.

Whenever I launch the game through the CORE icon, I experience the following: blink video - okay, CORE page where music, graphics and globals load okay and finally the boxes for game selection appear. After selecting "single player", I am taken to the next panel for game selection.
The only campaign game choices available to me are CORE0.7 and CORE0.71.

When I try selecting either of the games, I experience an immediate freeze up. The Error message reads:

Error: (unknown lhs in frontpiece prefs) 'strength=1.000' Line=135 file=ai\core_GER_36.ai. The boxes for abort, retry and ignore are then displayed. Selection of any choice terminates the game.

When launching the game through the "vanilla" HOI icon, I experience no problems and can play a vanilla HOI mod 1.05 game.

I have tried uninstalling and reloading in accordance with the recommended mod choice on the download page three times and apparently I keep making the same mistake. I have checked the known lists of bugs on both the Paradox files as well as the Road to War website and have not seen anything similar to my problem.

So any pointers will be appreciated t prevent future operator error!

This error will occur when the 1.05c HoI.exe file did not unzip properly (ZIP version mismatch, settings or some other similar problem). Open the 1.05c patch in WinZip or equivalent software and manually extract the HoI.exe file to fix this issue. You can also verify this problem by comparing the date of the HoI.exe in your HoI directory with that in the 1.05c zip archive.

I seem to recall that in 1.02 or 1.03 patch, they made sharing tech to SLIGHTLY influence the receiver. However, I do not have the change log for those patches anymore, so an only going by failable memory.

The wiki is a discussion board where the team discusses the mod. It's kind of an alfa-testing forum for CORE. Mostly testing to integrate new stuff and try to avoid it crashing the game, or throwing out error messages, so that when a new CORE beta comes out we can all focus on trying to figure out how to make the mod run more historically instead of spending most of the time fixing id clashes and misplaced curly brackets. :)

At what time today(praise the lord :rolleyes: ) will the new patch be out? could you brave modders give us a eta central europetime?

We are practically at the end of the testing process - game is stable, mayor issues are resolved... Still, when you download the game, feel free to post any suggestions/ideas/bug alerts. :D

All I can say now is that while mod is based on the 1.06, it will handle a bit different. Number of divisions is lower then in vanilla HoI, but battles are longer and campaigns are rarely fast... Terrain is very important (better develop those river crossing techs from the start...), urban fighting is a bit more common - lots of the new material "sneaked in" this release.
