Spain and USA - war in 1944

Greetings...

Playing as Spain in 1944.

In May, an event pops up - USA Pressure on Spain. It seems to indicate I should have a choice of selections, but I don't - I just have a "Stand Firm" button, which immediately gets a DOWar from the USA.

First, the USA isn't even among the Allies at this point - it is fighting Japan alone.

Second, the box seems to indicate that I should have an option to give in to US pressure - which I don't have.

So what is the deal? I've got a long game put in to piss it away on this bug. Any quick fix to get around this?

P.S. On a whim, after I got DOWed by the USA I immediately joined the Allies, which then put the US at war with Canada and the UK. Just goofy...

Fixed It!!!

FIXED IT!!!

In the core_Iberia.txt file under the 802042 event for Spain, there are 2 items listed as action_a so I renamed the second item action_b, and now I get presented with the right choices (unless I shouldn't have a choice which makes no sense).

So I chose to stop trade with Germany which seems to have added 1000 to my oil stockpile (not that I needed it, I took Arabia, Iraq, and Venezuela early in the game). There seems to be no downside to the event from the German point of view that I can see...

Should there be a check to see if the USA is at war with Germany before firing this event?

Whew... the game can continue!

Hi Venger,

You are playing v0.8? I'd recommend grabbing the v0.81 patch and applying it, it's not ideal for ongoing games but should address the issue you raised. From the v0.81 changelog:

- fixed action error 802042 US pressure on Spain *bug 16*

BTW, if you don't want to patch the game you can add 322090 to the history section in the savegame and this will prevent the event from occuring in this game only.

hello all, i've been enjoying CORE very much great job guys

now i have a little request... first would it be ok if i could use the CORE load screen as a title page for my History project. If it is ok with you guys on this can one of you's change 1936-1948 to 1939-1945 and if you could remove CORE and the community open resource exchange from the load picture. If whoever created it could do that for me i would be really greetful.

now i dont know how hard it would be to remove and change the things but if it is too much of a hassle its fine i can deal with it... i just thought it would be a very good picture for a title page!

Yes, there's been some problems with server load as I understand it. Paradox are well aware of the problem, hopefully it will improve in the near future.

Try dropping a private message to Cairo_East, he contributed the load screen and may have retained copies without the text. Good luck with your project

Back to sunshine here now, wiki is back up. Very odd weather today.

Well, this CORE ver. seems just great... Just been playing the Krauts, even at medium level I get almost historical results! (might be thanks to the 1.06 patch as well) Serious allied bombing raids, beach landings of more than one division, big tankovaija mania in the east, hard time getting powerful techs, etc.

- Ok, but there is a problem. Sometimes the game halts and I get something like "missing database entry, id = some number " and some blah blah. I don't understand why, or which file is refered to as the database. It's a program failure box with the usual abort-retry-ignore options. I can press ignore and the game continues, but I don't know what's gonna happen. If I retry it would CTD.

- Also some airgroup sprites gets invisible when the are intercepting. But I suspect this to be a HOI 1.06 bug, am I right?

So you discovered the "I'll start the game and get myself a cup of coffee/tea before it finished loading" function. Yeah it was added in the 0.7 version after Starbucks and Lipton made a big contribution to the mod developers

Perhaps by the next release, you could also do the dishes before playing.

The beach markers are present to my knwledge. the little banana shapped figure.

And for the experience I typed the same in a tread with ideas for HOI 2. If it will ever be developed.

Is the little banana a moddable marker? If so, it should be made longer.
The size really matters. '

Surely a CORE bug, but it can be caused by many things... a wrong leader ID to a unit ID etc, etc... Can you be a bit more precise?

IIRC this is also a vanilla HOI bug... However my advice is to use counters, since CORE add many models for many unit classes, and HOI has only 3/4 hardcoded sprite slot per model....(i.e. you can see a jet fighter at the place of a Bf.109!)

yes there are 48 different beach markers and it can be set which one to use in the Province.csv. You will probably need to adjust positioning as well once you find the one you want.

Sorry for the creation of a new thread, but your all so busy and this site is a maze of where to post and where not to, so here goes.

1) With the Rhineland events it is possible for France and the Benelux countries to gain large amounts of MP for relatively no downside. While I am guilty of using this exploit both as France and Holland (that was a fun game, no really!), i find myself looking for a better way. Perhaps some dissent shoudl be added to the mobilize choice, as well as some MP cuts for the Benelux countries (only a little for France).

2) Also you guys are bloody awesome at modding. While I was invading the Japanese Home Islands an event fired giving them many Divs and fortresses of both kinds (bloody Genuis). Thereafter I decided to play as Japan, with a little tech help I actually made the Italian AI kick some ass; I actually tried to replicate in normal HOI, but to no avail, must be CORE AI (ran tes 6 times, 3 CORE & 3 Normal). Also I am sorry to inform Paradox that I can no longer play HOI without the addition of CORE (better Tech tree, etc....hell u guys made it u should know)

3) I have in the past suggested event modifications, as well as balancing issues, I have recevied some feedback, yet I am willing to do more, such as help the CORE project in any way. I know work from Home (just got a great IT job), so I have lots of time to kill (trust me lots, even enough to read Mucky Pups' AAR). so contact me if u need help, my email is in the Western Europe thread.

Finally I want to have u guys pat yourselfs on the back. OK now go get a cold one (non-alcoholic if u prefer), and go look at the beautifull sky. Allright that is enough back to work (or play).
