Re: Re: Re: Event problems (Bitter peace rep?)

I'm in your same situation , the Ribentrop - Schulenberg plan event has no efects , and same thing with the other liberation events.
However the CORE is agreat job!

I think baltic event had no effect at all, I think it poped and I hit yes but I still had the provinces.

However, hobby growth is for me the overriding key: with hobby growth we get more and better games, because there's a market. The generation of gamers young enough to be my kids were raised in a different world, one not limited by the counter mix and used to more images and colour in games. Wargames that are to succeed have to respect a pretty wide variety of tastes.

Speaking as one who first entered the wonderful world of wargaming in 1961 with Avalon Hill's "Tactics II", I can certainly sympatize with that point of view. The counters feel like wargaming to me, while the toy soldiers feel like .... well ... toy soldiers :)

But you're right about the younger generation liking the pretty pictures, and so long as I have the option of using counters, it doesn't bother me that others don't appreciate them ;)

Well... anyway, in spite of all the complaints (and at least one tantrum) you've received on the subject .... I, for one, appreciate the effort that went into it, and it enhances the game for me.

So..... that makes two of us, huh? ;)

Good gods. You were playing AH games when I was still pooping my diaper; in fact, before my mom even started ralphing in the morning. 3R was my first, in 1975, and is arguably responsible for my longtime affection for WWII grand strategy (and my eagerness to do what little I can to help improve HOI's version of same).

I knew AH was hosed when it was bought out by Hasbro. They had the worst QC in game manufacturing I've ever seen, and the best customer service and business ethics I've ever seen: they actually impacted my development with this, as they cheerfully supplied (no questions asked) a young 12-year-old with the missing parts to games he had had to go all the way to Portland to buy. Long live Don Greenwood, along with Jim Dunnigan the patron saint of all loyal grogs.

Gamers who would like to become familiar with NATO symbols can download the US Army field manual that lists them:
FM 101-5-1. They are very good for any gamer seeking to broaden his or her understanding of military science.

Bolivia is too Quick to Join The Axis

NA 1.05c, two games (0.61 & 0.6), Bolivia joined the Axis very early in 1940 (0.61) and either 40/41 in 0.6. This is ahistorical and wierd. What are others experiances?

My opinion is that too often strange minor countries join axis (Bolivia, Afganistan, Sweden, Argentina, Brasil....).

There still should be a chance that a minor join axis even if it didn't historically, but we should find a way to decrease that chance....

Yes... we went over 50Gb of transfer this month. This is the second time it happens and i'm truely sorry asit was unexpected, but more bandwith means more money. Last month we got 15 addtional GB to be ready for C.O.R.E. 0.6 but apparently it wasn't enough :( I wish there was alternate servers.

The server will be back online the 10/1

If my webspace get's knocked off the web as well then I'll set up a public access FTP server, unfortunately at that stage it will impact development work.

If you ever see her stats, she is slow without much in terms of attack or defence. Send out a cruiser and send her to the bottom ;). MDow

Problem with Shaposhnikov event

When the event that is supposed to install Shaposhnikov as a Soviet Minister fires, it tries to install the wrong minister, and then wipes out the Chief of Staff position altogether. Easy to avoid, just choose not to install him and all is well. Doesn't create a problem because he's already in the job... so all the event does is erase the position.... and that DOES cause a problem ;)

The Rosenberg plan in 0.6

Hello, im playing Germany and chose the Rosenberg plan.

I got HiVi divisions only when i reloaded the game, but thats no big deal.

When I had taken alot of Russian lands I got the victory in the east event. (id 5315) There I chose b) "Offer peace terms to the Soviets". The russians agreed but nothing happened! I played on until the event fired again but still no effects. The japs wasn't in the alliance so it should be id 5332 that is broke.

EDIT: Ooops, Im too tired to read the events properly. The event works fine, I just thought I would get more land.

Also when i selected to annex the baltic countries and Byelorussia i got "enemy in sight" messages even when it was me who both received those provinces and controlled them before the event.

2:nd EDIT: ok, im very tired but i chose to set Ukraine and the Caucasus countries free, but all that happened was that the Soviet pocket in Jerevan became Armenia and a fight broke out between the Armenians and Soviets. The Soviets won and annexed Armenia (shortest independence ever?) This must be because the Germany offers peace event should trigger before the Liberation events. The liberation only happens if the land is soviet. i.e. Events 5231, 5239, 5242, 5236 should be triggered by either 5332 or 5333. Just ask me to clarify if this is too confusing...

/Jon

Feedback from current JAP game with v0.6

1)Spanish Civil War
The rise of 3rd party seemed to cripple SPN. SPR benefited as SPN was forced to divide her troops to deal with the 3rd. While SPN sent troops to mountaionous province(3rd party's capital), SPR attacked weakened SPN front.

2)Failed CHI factory evacuation
The evacuation seemed to weaken CHI's ability to oppose JAP, rather than help her. The second event didn't happen during Sino-Japanese war. May be you should raise random value for the second event(evacuation completed). Though low value might reflect Japanese assault on the train.

Q: Is stripping ALL factories from certain provinces proper? Both JAP and CHI can't reconstruct factories in these provinces in future.

3)New China-Japan border of Kiri Project
In case Japan happens to liberate Korea, Japan will lose land connection to Manchukuo. Then Japan can't receive excess resources from her.
Release of northern provinces to CHI forces AI JAP to march all through trans-Siberian railway from Vladivostock in case SOV and JAP crashes.

Considering Japanese aim of peace negotiaion, I think the result of Kiri-Project needs some modifications.

4)Factory transfer (result of Kiri Project)
In case CHI evacuated factories earlier, it won't her much. Though some provinces might become worthless(0IC left).

5)No Kamikaze attack (rewritten)
In case Copper Nicus failted to notice previous post...
There is no event to enable JAP construcion of Kamikaze naval bomber. The TECH can't be researched within the duration of the game.
It requires shorten research time or proper tech-giving event.

Please regards
