Very minor event bug with ' Finnish winter war' Germany event

The event asks if Finns can move trough germany

The event is shown as bright white instead normal text and only the topline in bright white.
The options given doesnt tell what its surpose to do
so its a blind desition or best guess.

no big deal but I thought I meantion it. :D

Thanks for another fine CORE update!

I'm playing as the U.S. and have researched up to mass produced steamers (Liberty ships) and found them to be free. :cool:

It looks like they cost 1 IC and the modular ship tech reduces that by 1 IC, hence they become gratis.

Separately, I've been getting a number of Japan AI file-related CTDs. I looked around but didn't seem to see a resolution to this in this forum other than a complete deletion and reload. I'm using the Sept. 5 dated HOI.exe file from the 1.05c download. Anyway, after my current game I'll erase everything and try again. If anyone has a simpler solution I'll sport you a beer.

[Edit: It looks like 1.05c didn't take for whatever reason. :confused: }

Hopefully someone will notice this post.

Multirole fighters are overpowered.

Especially at low tech levels.

They have almost as much air attack as interceptors, almost as much range as escorts, and almost as much tactical attack as dive bombers.

Multirole fighters are supposed to be the in-between fighter.

They were partially escort, partially interceptor, and partially dive bomber, yet escort was the best escort, interceptor the better interceptor, and the dive bomber the best dive bomber. Lowering the stats too much can make these aircraft useless. However, if you want to stop bombers, build interceptors. If you want to escort bombers, use escorts, and if you want to smash land units, use dive bomers.

Interceptors outgun Multirole, Escorts outrange Multirole, and Dive Bombers carry a bigger payload. Sure, it may be more efficient to build multirole fighters if you want an air force that will do anything at any opportunity, but sometimes the extra little air attack in an Interceptor, extra little range in an Escort, and extra little tactical attack in a Dive Bomber is more important than having a plane that can do all of those ok, but not as well as their opponents.

Basically, when a MR fighter goes on a bombing mission, you assume that it is fully loaded (a Hurricane II carried similar payload to a Ju-87), when it goes on an escort mission you assume that it has drop tanks, when it goes on an interception mission you assune that it is as light as possible. That is why all stats are high.

Finwe Nolofinwe: It seems to me that teching and building just multiroles is cheaper and more effective than developing ALL those other models.

I agree. I research and build Tac and Nav bombers and MR fighters exclusively in 1936 scenarios. However, I did a 1.05c 1941 scenario and found improved interceptors (already researched and in inventory) to be pretty effective in the air superiority role, so I might actually consider adding them to the mix in future.

One of the main reasons we moved away from zip file format and started using an installer package was that we had problems exactly like that, numerous users would report problems with every release and when doing directory checks I would find that they had only partial installs.

I've come across it with the Paradox patches as well, essentially when you unzip into the game directory it appears some files may not be over-written. Best work-around IMHO is to unzip into a temp directory and then drag/drop the files into the \Hearts of Iron directory. Perhaps this is due to people using various levels and versions of zip extraction...

Played a couple of games, looks good - Eastern front is very back and forth.

I have one criticism/suggestion. In the tech tree, is it possible to show the base stats of the researchable units (ie HA,SA etc)?

Hi everybody

I have just started with C.O.R.E. Germany starts with a convoy from Stettin to Elbing. This is supposed to carry supplies but actually is not carrying anything. I am in 1937 and supplies in Eastern Prussia are running down. I have tried to change things with the convoy [like starting form antother place...] but anything works.

It's certainly possible. You know you can get this from the units directory, right? While it's nice to have it in-game I'm just thinking it might be hard to read and that it's easier to get either directly from the unit files or from a separate reference (ie we could publish it on the website).

A convoy will only carry supplies when they are needed. Just wait and see :)

I believe it to be 39 chars. "Quotes" should not be used, and in general, the weirder the character the more you have to watch out. Accented characters, though seem fine--at least those we've had occasion to use. One should be careful to use the straight up and down apostrophe ' and not a leaning one.

Does this CTD keep on happening? Sometimes HoI CTD's on a whim (not a CORE issue but a HoI issue), but you can do exactly the same thing in a reload and it won't crash.

Ok, then these should be fine. The longest one is 37 characters, with only two over 35.

And no 'weird' (not used in the english language :p) ones either.

My practice is: HoI supports all of the Western European diacrites. Some of the Eastern European ones look the same and are supported as well, but most are not. All the Spanish, French, German and so on can be used quite safely.
