first of all i am back, second of all I have this very same problem as I posted about a while ago.
The latest Paradox patch is impressive, but im still waiting to see what will come of it, as theres still a lot of work to do.
But I think 1.06 will be a definative patch.

Ok thanks I used Word to open it, I edited the current ministers to Paternal Autocrat I hope that works, couldn't find it anywhere else. I can't believe theres 5100+ pages in the save file!
It's your game and your computer, but as a neighbour not so far south, I've got a couple of tips for you:
a) If you found it confusing getting XP to open that file, hacking game files may be more challenging than you have the skills for. I say this not to discourage you, but to save you frustration. That said, of course, if you want to learn as you go, more power and all that.
b) Always save a copy of it, as a fallback position. This applies to any file one hacks, obviously.
c) If you are going to do a significant amount of it, you want a decent text editor. I use Editpad, which is by a guy in Belgium and is 'postcardware' (you have to send him a postcard of where you live). It seems to handle most such tasks well.

Countries I think should use the remaining User Defined slots:
- Kurdistan
- Maylasia
- Pashtoonistan (Maybe, it was the provinces that in game Afghanistan demands. They never really wanted to annex the provinces, but make them independent, one could assume a puppet. When India was created the Afghans immediately demanded that these territories be handed over.)
- Dietsland (Holland and Belgium combined into one, a German satellite, they wanted to use the Dutch flag but with the red replaced with Orange)
- Pakistan (We really need this for India)

It's usually 250.000 to 280.000 lines, depending on how far into the game you are. That is why save game recovery can be a pain sometimes and you don't get too many volunteers for debug work

Hi guys
Just in for a quick peek while on vacation. Looks like im gong to be busy when i get home
if new countries are to be created i have to again ask for icelands independence from denmark in 44. It has to be in there, and it can be done without harming the US way to get planes to europe.
Ill settle for reykjavik as independent and the other iceland province still under US control.
btw. 32 degrees in the shade and the beer is cold cold COLD, in Alanya, Turkey.

There's already a tag for Iceland so it's not a problem, IIRC the only issue was that you were proposing adding Iceland in 1940 (not 1944). As long as we base it on the 1944 plebiscite I'm happy to see Iceland in the game.
