OK, so its a Paradox thing. Well, i think that they these 3 provs should be mountains. Sure theyre not the Alps, but its difficult terrain and its mostly mountains, amongst them, the Picos de Europa, one of the highest (and most beautiful) points of Spain.

Ahem... I believe the Mech Infantry unit has been disabled. I have researched Motorized HQs and all applicable techs, but alas, no Mech!

Could someone please confirm if it was my method of installation (the 052 over my previous properly installed Core 051 over 1.05) and if I need to reinstall everything from scratch, or if I just need to wait for a fix?

Thanx! (Don't mean to harp, just trying to help...)

Tanks are definitely bugged, did a clean install following all instructions and got same result -- some models are out of order in the models text file -- and for all countries, not just Germany.

Further investigation on the tank bug

reveals that the models in the armor tech file do not match up correctly with the models in the model csv file. Just changing the models csv file will not suffice in itself. The main issue seems to be a juxtaposition of which models are activated by which tech advances, with slots 9-13 basic medium tanks being actually filled by improved light tanks, and slots 22-25 advanced light tanks being completely eliminated by the armored recon battalion, and a subsequent renumbering of what models get activated needing to be done, as the current scheme is off by four in the later models.

CORE 0.52 Clean Install
Playing as USA it is consistantly crashing in Sept 1940. I'm fairly convinced it is due to the Vichi France event (it first crashed Aug 1940, reqs for V France apparently met, I kept reloading and eventually got it well into Sept, but I've never seen Vichi successfully fire).

If it's any help, in my game as the USA, Italy has taken a large portion of Southern France.

On a brighter note, I altered the Armored Tech file so that the tank techs point to the right models as suggested right above, and the unit designations now appear correct...

You need Mechanized HQ to get Mech units. It was changed in 0.5 to match with Paradox Changes (in 0.4 Motorized HQ activated Mechs).

The proper instalation procedure is:

1) HoI

2) Patch 1.05

3) Patch 1.05b

3) CORE 0.5

4) CORE 0.51

5) CORE 0.52

I know, it's a bit complicated...

Those looks like part of 0.6 files... :(

Steel, it's high time for 0.55 (one file with all 0.5-0.52 changes) - otherwise no one will be able to play normally... ;) :D

Okay, then I have a question.

As I recall, the original game took a very long time to install--not something I'm eager to do again. Right now I have a functioning game of HOI 1.05 with CORE 0.51 installed. In accordance with instructions on the board, to use the tweakpack AI benefits for 1.05b, I simply extracted the .exe from it. Didn't want to break CORE; was willing to pass on some of the benefits (?) of the rest of the 1.05b files.

If I were to now turn around and install the full 1.05b, then reinstall all three CORE versions listed above in order, do you think I'd be okay, or do you think I'd find myself uninstalling then reinstalling the whole enchilada?

jkk

It should work. As I check 1.05b it contains mostly files that are replaced/not used by CORE. So if you want only upgrade existing CORE (0.51) instalation, sole HoI.exe should be enough.

Not tested though... :(

I’m playing Japan, CORE 0.5

It’s February 1941. Japan has annexed NatChi and is at war with the Allies. In Europe, Germany reigns supreme : Spain, Switzerland, Albania, Sweden and Ireland are neutral, the rest is Axis. Minus the UK, of course.
Russia is not at war.

US War Entry is at 7%…

That's can't be right. Rampant isolationism?

Apart from most severe hit to US WE (Isolationist Election = - 50 WE in 1940), there are several other US events that can cause that. And since WE in HoI can drop below zero it's quite possible to see only 7% in 1941... :(

Good for you - you can prepare for late war clash with the USA on your terms. :D

Tech Mod in HOI 1.05b, CORE 5.2

In a properly installed HOI/CORE latest versions (as reflected in the subject header above), I noticed that the Tank Techs have been significantly modified without a corresponding change in the name of the individual tank techs. For example, I developed the technology labeled Basic Tank - 70mm Short. When I proceeded to enter the tank into production, I noticed that I had actually researched technology to build a (unheard of) Pzkfw III - MG. Going back to the tech tree, I noticed that while I had researched Basic Tank - 70mm Short, the effects for that technology were not the promised Pzkfw III - 70mm Short, but the Pzkfw III - MG. This type of mislabeling confusion persists throughout the Armor tech tree. Someone please enlighten me. Is this intentional or a major bug? Is this a Paradox problem created by 1.05b, a CORE 5.2 problem, or possibly a monster that I have unintentionally created?

0.52 tank models bug solution

We have identified the bug in tank tree in 0.52 - apparently some of changes scheduled for 0.6 'sneaked' into 0.52. Sorry for problems.

To get all tanks back on place:

1) download the armor_tech.txt file,

2) copy it into mod-CORE/db/tech/ directory.

That should do.

Warning - if someone started inventing Flame Tank tech i previous saves, it may cause CTD's (the tech was removed from the tree for now).

It's the armor_tech.txt from the next version of C.O.R.E. (v0.6) that has been included in v0.52 by mistake.

Get the right file -> here <-

I used the C.O.R.E. v0.5 file, I think there's only been typo changes since then.

I modified file from 0.52 installer (removed flamethrower tank, updated model id's). Better download mine and use this one. :D

After all, we can call recon batt 'sneak peek' of 0.6. It will work.
