I just made the desktop ICON myself and HOI starts fine and I have the CORE campaign. Looks like I was only missing the desktop item.

i recommend you install CORE into your HoI directory, because there some files that will be installed that needs to be in your Hearts of Iron directory.
so, suposing you have HoI in:
d:\Program Files\Hearts of Iron\
CORE should end like this:
d:\Program Files\Hearts of Iron\mod-core

Ive just been testing my minister sacked event for Vichy France and noticed a perculiar thing. The government screen for the nation is corrupt...as seen here.

This doesnt happen with 104 only! It also happened for everyone of my last three games, even startring one from the beginning!

If someone can point me to the correct file I will look at the problem some more. Where are ministers defined for a new nation? Is it in an event? as I have looked their and cant find a solution.

Anyone seen this before?

if you deleted important things (like ; or things like that) the file will become corrupt...
so look for a simple minister file (like Ukraine, Burma, etc...) and try to have your file equal to that. (in structure, i mean) ;)

IMPORTANT THING: when you want to play with Vichy, you need to let pass the day Vichy is formed, if not their leaders + ministers will not be loaded (they are loaded at the end of the day). So, for example, Vichy is created at 2:00 1/1/1939, wait until 0:00 2/1/1939 (dd/mm/yyyy ;) ), then save, quit, reload, and play with Vichy. ;)

they are all descriptions for countries, EGY, SYR, LEB, U03.
currently Procer is translating them...
(i must warn you that they are toooooo long, thanks to OHgamer :D )
more changes to that file could lead to an "unknown dimension of uncontrolled bugs".... :p... so i prefer to only add DESC to countries that didn't have one, so if you use your spanish text.csv, you will not have names + desc for the new countries. (User Defined, No Desc)

There is an event (?) at the end of the Spanish Civil War that results in Germany declaring war on Russia at the end of the war. This has happened in two of the games that I have played as the US. It has made for some interesting games with fighting happening through allied nation in the Balkans, but it isn't very historical. It also made for a short lived Poland once the Allies entered the war because of German forces massed to "repel" the Soviet invasion. Enjoyable to watch the clash on Europe. France has managed to survive until well into 1940 against a distracted Germany. MDow

Arrrgh. So far, the events work fine on the NA, and Spanish versions, are hit or miss with the UK version, and they CTD the PAN and Polish versions. :confused:
This is making soem sense, but I still don't get it all. It has to have something to do with the patches. I can't think of any other reason why this would happen.
I'll rework the events, and see what happens with those versions.

I changed the text to read;

command = { type = reveal_minister_loyalty which = -1 value = -1 }

for both the SCW experience event and the Irish event of April 1938 and the fired and I could move on..............

Dang. Now it makes even less sense to me. :confused:
If it's not an issue of versions, then why are some events being so hit or miss as to causing a CTD? I haven't been able to reproduce a CTD involving the Irish events, or Burris' Afghan events. They all fire fine when I play. :(

I'm at a total loss on this one....

My intuition is telling me that the reason the Irish events don't cause CTDs consistently is because the offending commands target random ministers, and a crash only occurs if a certain minister(s) is selected, such as when you try to change the skill of a sleeping general. Are any of the Irish ministers asleep or otherwise suspect? This is my only guess as to what could be the cause of the random crashes. I just don't think it is a coincidence than an event with random effects is causing random crashes.
