Germany unstopable on Eastern Front.
Situation Report November 1941.
After the previous battles a few weeks was needed to reorganise, rearm, refuel and make repairs. The rapid advance had tacken its toll.
This gave the High command time to consider its options. There were two main choices. The bulk of German forces were positioned two provinces to the south of moscow with the bulk of Soviet armour protecting moscow. In the centre lay alot of soviet infantry armies with no armour seen in that sector so far, nor in the far south were forces were light.
The Italian duce was pushing for an attack to encircle moscow to bring about a strategic gain for this year. How ever the fuher had his doubts. He would be attacking where the Soviets had there main strength, moving into land not friendly for tanks, and the soviet armies would just retreat into moscow making over running them impossible and expose our flanks to counter attacks while we attempted to encircle moscow.
Hitler ordered preperations be made to attack the centre as the main focus of our attack for the winter. Hitler explained to an angry Duce that my attacking the centre and perhaps destroying some armies there we can out flank the entire southern front giving us stalingrad and then entire cacuses befor winter. The Duce agreed.
Preperations were complete by late September. Although the Panzers were not at full org there was no more time to wait as winter was fast approaching. The first part of the attack and the major componet was the attack on Lipetsk. Once these forces were through they split there force one arm moving to Tambov then Borisglebsk other to Ryazan. The panzers plotted on blitz manovers with mech and motorised folling close behind. All up over 100 fast moving divisions would be involved. Infantry armies were positioned in Tula to assit the break through. Large Axis armies were also assemebled further south to prevent a Soviet counter attack to try and cut our supply lines off as we advanced.
The inital attack on Lipetsk was a success with the Panzers rapidly busting through to there next objectives. An unseen army in Ryazan was fought and it too was forced to retreat, Panzers were soon plotted to blitz and over run that army. The force pushing to Tambov were engaged once they arrived by frantic Soviet infantry armies trying to escape the rapidly forming pocket. The Attack out of the south into Pavlosk as part of the 2nd arm of the encirclement also made rapid progress and the pocket was soon closed.
A soviet attempt to counter attack from the north with his tanks pushed out army out of tula and he advanced with an attempt to try and break out his forces to the south and at the same time cut our supply lines, although a rout was also estableshed to the south via Pavlosk so it was never a real threat. The soviets soon found a large infantry army in Brynask of some 60 divisions was waiting as a reserve which counter attacked. However the Soviet army had no exposed himself probably not realising the strength of Axis forces further south covering the rear.
The German amries in Ryazan were no perfectly positioned to cut off the Soviet Tank armies by attacking Noginsk where only 10 divisions defended. The German pznaers pushed the aside and race to cut of the Soviet tank armies. Luckily for the Soviets they arrive mere hours in front of the panzers other wise it would have been the end of the war for the Soviets. With the soviet counter attack dealt with all Panzers were now rapidly over running every soviet infantry army they could see. Panzers blitzed in all directions.
It soon became clear as Soviet armies disappeared from the map that the entire centreal front had brocken with massive loss of forces for the USSR. It was at this time Hitler noticed all soviet forces in all sectors were moving from the front lines. Intel reports learnt that the Soviet high command had decided to pull out of western russia after there massive losses and head for the Urals. This was soon confirmed and Axis forces over ran all of western Russia, annexing finland in time. Moscow, leningrad, Stalingrad all fell to Axis forces.
The 1941 offensive has been a complete and utter success. It was learnt that in the last few months the USSR has lost over 140+ infantry divisions to our fast moving armies. There was no hope of the USSR now holding such a big front.
1942 will dawn with the new front lines positioned nearly in Asia. German panzers commanders send reports from the front of seeing large moutains in the distance, that can only be the Urals.
Never has Germany been so succesful in 1941 since ive played them, finaly hitler has done what he planed to do, take all of western Russia befor winter 1941. Hitler salutes his brave fighting men and sends his congratualtions to El Duce and other minor axis powers. A great victory has been gained, not a complete victory but hitler is confident that the USSR will now pose far less of a threat and lack the power to retake its lands.
Hitler now turns his eyes west to organise the defences and assemble new armies as im sure the Americas now reliase that they must move against us. With the USSR savagely beaten, they will also know we will be waiting for them.
Good session. When we playing again, perhaps this after noon. Like 5pm or something.
