He means it's old material but they just published it.
Even that doesn't sound reasonable for me

Hmmm...you're right. They don't quote him. But i can't imagine, that they interviewed him without asking about the release date. If the release would't be in Q2, they would have written something like "release in Q3" or "release in a few months".
But the info "Q2 on steam" seems pretty reliable to me in the article. AFAIK paradox always pulls a lot ressources together, when a game comes out.
Furthermore the devs didn't say anything about a delay.
Third point is, that the devs don't post a lot in the last time, which tells me, that they work really hard and under pressure to release the game.
I just deeply hope you're not right about Q3.![]()
Podcat's been asked this directly in other interviews and simply responded "It'sll be ready when it's ready", or words to that effect. More likely they just put it up because there's no other date that's been announced.
If it was coming out in 1-2 months they would have already announced a release date, be taking pre-orders, be having weekly DDs, have recruited beta testers etc. - they haven't done any of these things.
They have told us that the game has just been submitted for Alpha - i.e., at best it has only just entered Alpha. There's just no way it could go from pre-Alpha to release in a couple of months.
I'm sure they are under pressure, but they are also not doing any of the things that they would be doing if the game was coming out soon.
The only thing worse than a delayed game is an unfinished one. I much rather wait a little longer to get a finished game, than get an unfinished game, but better than either is to get the game finished on time.
One little thing, HOI IV is Steam only. I was thinking it would be a June release now I more thinking Aug.PI could also release the game for download on steam and release a boxed version later. So a release can happen very fast...
We are now in Q2, already a third of it has gone this weekend. Only nine weeks left. And they haven't started Beta.We believe in you for Q2 PDX Team!

Do you believe in Santa Claus as well?
Do you believe in Santa Claus as well?
But only on 25th December, not Q2. He needs to have a manual sent to the graphics designers and all of the English text sent for translation. Santa's little helpers can't do that. And a release copy needs to be with all of the media 10-14 days before release. He never fails to deliver.
I think It's very telling when both CK2 and EU4's release dates were announced three months before the release.
So my guess, there is at least three months until release![]()

it is not coming out in q2.
I'm not trying to be a bad sport about it, but this is finally showing me why they changed the policy to not reveal games until after alpha, my first hint was all the iterations about the battleplan system (and I'm quite happy with the rough one that was in place during the stream with Quill, even though it was stated that it wasn't feature complete).Meanwhile in Q3,
Sorry guys we are pushing it back to Q4,
Q4 rolls around,
Sorry guys we are pushing it back to 2016 Q2..
>.<

But this 2nd push back is taking it to the Nth degree (I'm personally not mad about it but I feel like it would irk the devs, and probably a lot of people), and can clearly see why this new policy was adopted (this and that game that got scrapped).
it is not coming out in q2.
