When I posted the first part of my AAR I did the mistake of using two different threads and now I want to correct that mistake. So here it is, the complete AAR all from the beginning in 1492. I have also included some screenshots.
Hope you'll enjoy reading it.

Part I, 1492-1501

This is my first try to write an AAR. I play the GC and the settings are hard/aggressive and I use the Swedish patch 1.07c. In 1492 I wasn't making as much notes as I did later so it'll be less details from this year.

1492

1/1
There's a great anxiety in the streets of Granada, the infidel Spanish dogs has made a promise that once and for all wipe out the Islamic presence on the Iberian peninsula and it's rumoured that a large, 40000 men Spanish army is gathering in Toledo.
In the royal palace, where king Zueidina is meeting with his closest and most entrusted advisor (me) there is also a great anxiety, but also an even greater determination. Even though things don't look very promising at the moment we are convinced that we, with the help of Allah, not only will survive as a nation but that we also will be able to reclaim some of what is rightfully ours (Andalusia, Toledo and Gibraltar).
We only have one army made up of 15000 men infantry and 2000 men cavalry commanded by colonel Husein. It would be complete madness to engage the superior Spanish army directly at the battlefield, instead we order Husein to seize the unfortified province Murcia and await further orders there.
We also start upgrading Granadas fortification and recruit 5000 infantry and 2000 cavalry.

Winter
The Spanish army (35000, 5000, 2) lays siege on Granada. Colonel Husein, biding his time in Murcia, sends small groups of soldiers into Sierra Nevada to strike against the Spanish supply lines. This strategy is quite successful and the Spanish army soon suffers from hunger as well as diseases.

March
Our newly recruited army is ready to use, but those greenhorns without any battle experienced is a cinch for the well-trained Spanish soldiers and our men are soon running away in panic. To our great delight they manage to set some Spanish storewagons on fire. This will mean even more suffering for the already malnourished Spanish soldiers.

Spring
The remains of our fleeing army arrives in Murcia where they are put under colonel Huseins harsh drill. The Spaniards brings in smaller reinforcements from Gibraltar, but once again we succeed with a nightly raid against their storewagons and famine and diseases claims many casualties. But still their army is to big for us to dare risking our only army in an assault.

May
France (Savoy, The Papal-state) declare war on England (Naples). What a pity, we had hoped for the French to take on The Spaniards instead.

Summer
A hot, dry summer doesn't help to improve the Spaniards supply situation. Soon the time has come for us to strike back. In August our fortress shows the first signs of beginning to give way but the Spanish army now only amounts to a bit more than 20000 men. We send a messenger to Husein, ordering him to assault the Spaniards in the end of September.

29/9
Husein charges down on the from famine and diseases exhausted Spanish soldiers. A great battle takes place just outside the walls of Granada and when the day comes to an end victory is ours, the Spaniards is retreating back to Toledo. Granada is saved!!! But the war is far from over. We immediately begin to recruit more soldiers. During the following months Spain repeatedly sends in smaller units (6000-7000 men) but Huseins now battlehardened troops easily repels all attacks.

28/12
Granadas fortress is now upgraded. Now we can, at last, mount an offensive without worrying to much about the Spaniards seizing Granada.

1493

5/1
Huseins army, thanks to new recruits, now back to its original strength (15000, 2000) march into Andalusia and lays siege on Cadiz (5000 men garrison).

7/4
A new Spanish army (30000) lays siege on Granada. Now we are beginning to run short of time and we order Husein to seize Cadiz without further delay.

23/7
On the third assault Husein breaches the walls of Cadiz and the city is now ours. This is a glorious victory, three assaults and we have only lost about (1000, 1000) in troops. But we are far from safe, the Spaniards are still besieging Granada. We are holding a council of war and soon two alternatives how to continue the war emerges:
1. Attack the Spaniards in Granada in an attempt to break the siege.
or
2. A fast-forward march through the unfortified Estrameduras into Castille and lay siege to Madrid.
King Zueidina seems to favour the first alternative but I persuade him that you have to play big if you want to win big and Husein is ordered to immediately begin marching on Castille. There is a great responsibility weighing on Huseins shoulders, he just have to capture Madrid before the Spaniards capture Granada. At least Madrid only has a 5000 men garrison, otherwise this attempt had been totally futile.

30/8
Husein seizes Estrameduras. We now control three Spanish provinces, Murcia, Andalusia and Estrameduras. The king, whose nerves seems close to breaking, hopes that this will be enough to reach an favourable peace. Well, it's worth a try, we offer the Spaniards peace in exchange for Andalusia but they refuse.

19/9
Husein arrives in Castille and immediately tries to overrun the walls of Madrid and he comes close to success, losing only about (1000, 1000) troops he decimates the garrison from 5000 to 890 defenders.
But at the same time the situation is beginning to get really precarious for the brave defenders of Granada. This will be a race against time, will Huseins men be able to recuperate enough to capture Madrid before Granada falls into the hands of the Spaniards?

21/12
The brave Husein, knowing time is running short, once again charges the walls of Madrid. VICTORY!!! Now the Spaniards for sure must yield?

25/12
We now send another peace offer demanding Andalusia and 250D war indemnity in exchange for peace and the stunned Spanish king has no choice but to accept our demands.
This war was a major success, not only did we secure Granadas independence (at least for the next five years) but we also got hold of a wealthy and important province containing both a Centre of Trade and a shipyard. The war indemnity we use to upgrade the sheriff in Sierra Nevada into a bailiff and to send a personal gift to the king of France, who we hope will be an allied in the future.

1494

16/2
The Teutonic Knights (the Hanseatic League, Brandenburg, Portugal, Hannover, Venice) declares war on Pskov.

1/3
The Papal-state pays England 140D in exchange for peace.
Technical progress. We find out how to use Field Artillery (Land tech 3) and may now build canons, if they weren't so very expensive that is.

7/4
Russia (Denmark) declares war on the Kazan-Khanate.

27/4
The Teutonic Knights makes a status quo-peace with Pskov after only two months of war.
Our domestic politics works brilliant, +1 stability and 532D invested in tradetechnology as well as infrastructural-research.

5/5
A diplomate from the Hanseatic League arrives and invites us to an alliance with them and Portugal, Venice, Hannover, Teutonic Knights, Brandenburg). News about our great victory over Spain seems to have spread over Europe. Even though this isn't the alliance of our dreams (for that would be one including France) we accept their invitation. This alliance will do for now.
2/9
Russia makes peace with the Kazan-Khanate. Kazan-Khanate pays 15D in war indemnity.

11/10
England is forced into a very harsh peace agreement with France and has to give up, Wessex, Kent and Calais.

28/12
The fortress in Cadiz (Andalusia) is now upgraded.

1495

2/1
Before leaving Madrid we found and kept some newly drawn maps showing Spains discoveries in the New World. The shipyard in Andalusia provides us with one settler/year and we now decide to try to establish a tradepost on Jamaica.

12/2
We arrange a royal marriage with Maroc and tries to do the same with the Ottoman Empire but they refuse.

10/6
Sheriff in Andalusia upgraded to bailiff.

1496

2/1
Poland (Spain, Lorraine, Kurpfalz, Cologne, Helvetia) declares war on the Ottomans.

4/3
Hungary (Austria) takes advantage of the situation and declares war on The Ottomans.

1/5
Allah is smiling upon his most humble and loyal servant. We've found minerals up in the Sierra Nevadan mountains worth 500D.
We immediately send six merchants to the CoT in Genoa, we recruit a new army (14000, 3000) in Andalusia, we send a personal gift to the king of France, dramatically improving our relations, they are now up to -27 and we send a flattering letter to the King of Portugal, improving our relations (now -158).

6/6
Colonel Husein, the old hero, gets our permission to retire from the army. Awarded with the highest possible marks of honour he goes on to live a quiet and peaceful life on his estates in Andalusia that he was rewarded for his heroic military achievements. His name will forever be held high in honor by all true believers of Islam.
Colonel Jafar is appointed to be the new commander of our army.
Our first attempt to establish a trade post on Jamaica failed, so now we try again.
We arrange a royal marriage with Tunisia.

15/8
Our new army (14000, 3000) is now ready and armed in Andalusia, we put colonel Suwaida in charge.

4/9
The Ottomans is forced to pay 217D to Hungary for peace.

5/10
Poland makes a status quo-peace with the Ottomans.

1497

2/1
We begin building two transports (not much of a fleet you may think but they'll be quite useful to me as you'll see).

25/1
The trader we sent to Jamaica succeeds in establishing a trade post.

28/1
We trade maps with the Hanseatic League.

27/2
Sent a flattering letter to the King of France telling him how much we admire his great victory over the English. This improves our relation (now -9)

4/7
Our mighty fleet is now launched in the port of Cadiz.

1498

4/7
We now have 2000 newly recruited soldiers available in Andalusia, we split them up in two equally large armies. Colonel Marbat and colonel Sebha are put in charge.

22/8
Sent a flattering letter to Portugal, improving our relations. They are still far from being good though, -121.

1/11
The head of the Infidel Church signs the treaty of Tordesillas, dividing the new world between Spain and Portugal. What a insolence!

2/11
Savoy (France, the Papal-state, Scotland) declares war on Genoa (Parma, Knights of St John).

1499

5/1
We try to arrange a royal wedding with Algeria, but they refuses.

13/2
Our peace treaty with Spain is no longer in effect. Now it's time to start taking back what is rightfully ours (Toledo&Gibraltar). The Spaniards has strengthened their fortification in Toledo (after all, there is a lot of gold in those mountains) and we don't believe we are strong enough to deal with that yet. Gibraltar on the other hand has only a small garrison and should be taken quite easy, if we just could get rid of that 16000 army they have stationed there first of course. To our big surprise Spain hasn't fortified either Murcia or Estrameduras. Those arrogant Christian dogs don't seem to take us seriously. Maybe they don't think that a tiny little country like us would ever dare to wage war against their mighty empire. It'll be our greatest pleasure to teach them the opposite.
We summon the Spanish ambassador and hand over our declaration of war to him. First he just sits there staring at us with disbelief but when he realize we're deadly serious, his face turns red and he furiously leaves the room without saying a word.
We soon hear that Spain has activated their alliance and that we are now at war with Spain (Lorraine, Kurpfalz, Cologne, Poland, Helvetia, Hesse). Bah, we couldn't care less, non of these countries have the slightest possibility to send troops to southern Spain. We turn to our allies for help and The Hanseatic League, Hannover, the Teutonic Knights and Brandenburg join us in our war. The treacherous Portugal and Venice brings disgrace upon themselves and dishonour our alliance. So in practice we have one war here in Spain and another up in northern Europe (always nice to see Christians fighting Christians).
Colonel Jafar (16364, 2874) is ordered to take Gibraltar, colonel Suwaida (16000, 3000) is to march into Estrameduras and then go on to Castille. Colonel Sebha and colonel Marbat shall take their small (1000) expeditonary forces aboard a transport and then set course for The Baleares and The Canary Islands, two unfortified Spanish provinces.
Our scouts also report that the Spanish army (16000) in Gibraltar is marching towards Andalusia.

13/3
Jafar lays siege on Gibraltar.

22/3
Suwaida is intercepted by the Spanish army in Andalusia and before he has time to form his lines the Spanish charges and win a major victory. Suwaida is forced to retreat back to Sierra Nevada with what is left of his army (7005, 1044) .
Now happens something that has to be called a miracle. The entire Spanish army who has just begun to siege Cadiz, vanishes without a trace! Maybe Allah intervened and let the ground open beneath the infidels to swallow them completely. Yes, that's after all the version we're going to spread across the world, then everyone will realize which side is truly supported by the Almighty.

19/5
After having regained his strength in Sierra Nevada, Suwaida makes a swift move into Murcia and then marches on to Estrameduras.

30/7
Suwaida arrives in Estrameduras, still no Spanish troops in sight. Very strange!

26/8
Genoa makes an expensive peace with Savoy, they have to pay 238D.
Helvetia pays 102D to France in exchange for peace.

28/8
When the Spaniards finally shows up, it's a pitiful sight. A tiny army (1506) tries to recapture Etrameduras but is severely beaten by Suwaida, who kills 506 enemies while only losing 7 infantry and 2 cavalry.

10/9
Our two transports are intercepted by two Spanish warships in the Straits of Gibraltar, they immediately flees towards the Gulf of Almeira and then resumes their original courses.

22/9
Helvetia makes a status quo-peace with Savoy.

23/9
Our allies Hannover pays 101D indemnity to Kurpfalz for peace. Incompetent fools!

8/10
Hannover makes peace with Spain as well, this time paying 19D.

2/12
Colonel Marbat lands his army on The Baleares.

30/12
Colonel Sebha lands on The Canary Islands.

1500

14/5
Jafar, now reinforced with 4000 men under colonel Anaba, assaults the walls of Gibraltar for the fifth time and this time he's successful. At last Gibraltar is ours.
Jafars army is now reduced to (10836, 1769) while Anaba who just took part av the final assault only lost 101 men.

1/6
We have now learned to make cannonballs cast in one piece. (Naval Tech 3).

7/6
A Spanish army (9586) tries to drive Suwaida (5209, 685) out of Estrameduras and this time they succeed. Suwaida retreats with the remains of his army (3471, 337) into Andalusia.

26/6
Jafar och Anabas combined armies (13981, 1659) rushes into Estrameduras and in a bloody battle kills 3239 of the 8732 Spanish soldiers that just some 19 days earlier defeated Suwaida. Those Spaniards knew how to fight though, 2683 men of our infantry and 396 of our cavlary found their way to Paradise.

4/8
Jafar and Anaba marches into Castille and for the second time in less than ten years a Moorish army stands outside the walls of Madrid.

22/10
Colonel Nasiriyah and his 3000 newly recruited men reinforces the siege of Madrid.

26/11
Our trade post in Jamaica is now level 2.

1501

3/1
We're greatly surprised when we're told that Spain has made peace with France, giving Luxembourg away and paying 142D in indemnity. We summon our foreign minister and ask him how come we weren't informed that Spain and France were fighting a war. His pathetic excuses can't stop his head being separated from his body. When the survival of the nation is at stake there is no room for incompetence.
Well, at least this explains the absence of any major Spanish forces so far. But now we'd better hurry, it can't be too long before the Spanish armies arrive from the French frontier. Good thing we already ordered the remnants of Suwaidas army (3471, 337) to help in the siege.

22/1
Our allies once again disgraces themselves, first it was Hannover and this time it's the Hanseatic League who is forced to an humiliating peace with Helvetia, paying them 101D.

7/3
Moldavia now is a vassal to Russia.

14/4
The day we have long feared is now upon us, a large Spanish army (33675) led by Cordoba marches into Estrameduras. We quickly send out our scouts to find out in which direction Cordoba plans to march from there. If he chooses to go towards Castille in order to break up our siege, we would have no choice but to negotiate for peace and settle with just one province. But luckily, Cordoba takes his army to Andalusia instead, that should give us the time we need to capture Madrid.
The Hanseatic League pays another 81D in indemnity, this time to Hesse. Those allies of ours has turned out to be so useless. We just have to leave this alliance as soon as we have the possibility to join a better one, hopefully with France.

12/5
Cordoba arrives in Andalusia and lays siege on Cadiz.

17/5
When we assault the walls of Madrid for the fourth time, the defenders no longer can resist us. The city is ours! We now stand with four armies in Castille, Jafars (6175, 837), Suwaidas (2621, 167), Anabas (2195) and Nasiryahs (2585). The incompetent Suwaida (he won only one battle and that was when he heavily outnumbered the enemy) is deprived of his command and his soldiers are now part of Jafars army.

20/5
With the Spanish capital in our hands we can now force the Spaniards to accept an humiliating peace. We demand Gibraltar (because it is ours by right) and The Canary Islands (because the King needs a vacation, wars really makes him nervy), and they have no choice but to accept.
Once again our brave, victorious armies, with the help of Allah, has won a glorious victory. All that is left now is to take the well-fortified Toledo with its rich gold-mines and then Granada will be united again.
Even though we no longer fight the Spaniards our alliance is still at war with Kurpfalz as well as Helvetia. We try to make white peaces with them, but they refuse. Very well, it's not that very much fighting is going on so we just have to wait for a standstill-peace instead.

2/6
Send some missionaries to the Canary Islands to convert the infidels and we also arrange a royal marriage with the Ottoman Empire.

18/6
We expanded our trade post in Jamaica and we now have 30 men there to trade with the natives.

2/8
Our missionaries did a good job, the population on the Canary Islands are now true believers in Islam.

18/8
There's a great war in the Mid-East, Persia (the Mameluks, Georgia, Crimea) declares war on Iraq (the Ottomans, Algeria, Tripolitania, Tunisia).

24/8
Russia (Denmark, Pskov) declares war on the Kazan-khanate.

Summary:

The first 11 years of king Zueidinas glorious reign has been successful above expectations. We have fought two wars against the great power Spain and been victorious both the times. We now have four times as many provinces as we had in 1492 (and we have also established a trade post in the New World).
Our annual income is now up to 43D.
We have expanded our trade continuously over the years and now have five merchants in Andalusia, Tago and Genoa.
Inflation is up to 5%.
We have arranged royal marriages with Maroc, Tunisia and the Ottoman Empire and we have improved our relations with France (after the last war the relation is -19).
We have lost 50283 men infantry (38537 in combat, 11746 of attrition) and 8245 men cavalry (6269 in combat, 1985 of attrition).
Even though we have had great success so far we still have reason to be anxious, our position is far from safe. The total strength of our army is now only 14232 men infantry and 746 men cavalry. If Spain would choose to strike down upon us with all its power we would have a very hard time withstand them, especially since our present alliance don't seem to be very much to count on. But at least we have five years to strengthen our position.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economic Diplomacy Total
France 131 13 21 165
Spain -78 116 49 87
Granada 69 6 8 83

Here comes the screenshots:

You won't come directly to the pictures but to my homepage, where all the screenshots can be found, but this is the two from part I.

Part II, 1502-1517

1502

1/1
The war is over and it's now time to start developing our nation, improve our diplomatic relations and, of course, prepare for the liberation of Toledo. We take a good look at the new maps we found in the Royal Library in Madrid, to see if we can find a suitable place for another trade post and there it is, a small island called Martinique.

7/7
The trader we sent to Martinique succeeded and we now have a trade post there.
We send a flattering letter to the king of France, slightly improving our relations, now -14.

12/12
We want more trade posts and thus send another trader, this time to Parana.

16/12
The Kazan-Khanate makes peace with Russia, paying them 131D in war indemnity.

1503

3/1
Our main objective right now is to make France a good friend of ours so we just keep sending these flattering letters, again slightly improving our relations (-5).

26/5
Iraq offers 250D and Kirkuk to Crimea in exchange for peace and Crimea accepts the deal.

3/6
Scotland makes peace with Spain. Scotland gets hold of Holland.

1/7
A standstill-peace with Kurpfalz is arranged.

1/8
We learn how to use artillery support on the battlefield. (Land Tech 4).

11/8
The Mameluks and Iraq agrees on a status quo-peace.

16/8
Our attempt to establish a trape post in Parana was successful.

10/9
Another flattering letter to France gives our relation another small improvement (3).

1504

1/1
Guess what. We send a flattering letter to France improving our relations a little bit more (10). Now they will soon like us enough to let us join their alliance.

21/1
We are getting really tired of this so called war we are having with Helvetia so we send one of our diplomats with an offer for a white peace and they accept.

9/4
The Ottomans receive Kurdistan from Persia in exchange for peace.

30/4
The Spaniards are not doing very well right now. This time they have to give up Sardinia to the Papal-state in order to get peace.

7/5
We expanded our trade post in Martinique.

1505

1/1
Our annual income is just not large enough to make us ready for the next war. The King and I discuss this matter and I decide it's time to go to the Bank of Granada and get some extra money. I send five of my servants and order each of them to take a 200D loan. When the King realize that I'm actually going to loan 1000D, all at the same time, he stares at we with astonishment written all over his face. We'll never be able to pay back so much money, we'll go bankrupt, he says. No, of course we won't be able to pay it back, just the thought of us being able to collect 1000D in five years is ridiculous, I tell him. But don't you worry, I've everything figured out. When the time comes for us to pay back all our loans we simply tell the bank that we don't have any money. I mean what can they do? After all you're the King, aren't you?
The King, as usual, can't withstand my brilliant rhetorics and we now have 1000D to spend.
First of all we send personal gifts to France, greatly improving our relations (53) and to Maroc (a former vassal we hope) with the same result, our relations now up to (3).
Then we begin to reinforce the fortress in Gibraltar and finally we order two new armies to be recruited. One in Sierra Nevada (6000, 2000, 20) and one in Andalusia (7000, 1000, 10).

3/1
Iraq makes peace with Persia, paying 121D in indemnity.

25/2
The Hanseatic League (still our ally) once again humiliates themselves when they makes peace with Poland giving away Western Pommerania, Bremen and 44D.

1/3
We can't stay in this alliance anymore. The disgrace of our allies soon will infect us too, in the eyes of the other countries. We summon the Hanseatic ambassador and let him know that our participation in this alliance from now on is history.
We then send a message to France asking them if they would let us join their alliance (already including Savoy, the Papal-state, Scotland, Lorraine, Kleve) and they agree to it. At last, all our flattering letters and gifts to the French king have paid off.

4/5
We start building 4 more transports in Andalusia.

9/5
Our trade post in Martinique is now up to level 3.

7/11
We start recruiting even more troops (9000, 1000) in Andalusia.

1506

27/1
Navarre is now a vassal to England.

18/5
We expand our trade post in Jamaica (level 4).

4/7
Now, the time has finally come for us to take back Toledo and unite Granada once and for all!
We declare war on Spain and France, Scotland, Kleve join us, Lorraine and the Papal-state dishonours the alliance while Savoy is already at war with Spain
Spain also activates their alliance and Poland, Helvetia, Kurpfalz, Hesse, Naples, Cologne are now in the war as well.
We are going in this war with two armies, colonel Fayoums (15653, 0, 30) in Sierra Nevada and colonel Mafras (19198, 4719) in Andalusia. (you may wonder what happened to colonel Jafar and Anaba from the last war, well you see the King has this paranoia about his officers plotting against him, therefore he changes the commanding officers of his armies every now and then).
Fayoum is ordered to take Toledo and Mafra to take Castille and, as usual the unfortified Estrameduras on the way.
We also recruit a small army (1000) in Gibraltar to see if we can take control of the Baleares as well.
There are yet no signs of any Spanish troops, perhaps they are all busy fighting Savoy.

30/7
Mafra marches in to Estrameduras and immediately moves on to Castille.

1/8
We receive an update of the war situation from our allies:
Cordoba (28006) is on his to France.
An Halvetian army (45165) is besieging Lyonnais.
The French is feverishly recruiting new troops while two armies, one (20605) and the other (21978) under La Palice is marching south from northern France.
In Holland, 9000 Scots are fighting 9000 men from Hesse while Spanish armies are moving in from the Hague (15840) and Friesen (3960).
There are also armies on the march from Kurpfalz, a huge one (51160) under van Sickingen, Cologne and Kleve.

9/8
Fayoum, now (14913, 0, 30) arrives in Toledo and lays siege to the city.
Our scouts report the presence of 4110 Spanish soldiers in Murcia, nothing to worry about.

5/9
Mafra (17445, 4369) arrives in Castille and we're now besieging Madrid, again, the citizens must be pretty used by now.
Colonel Azzer is put in command of our new (1000) army in Gibraltar.

1/10
A new update from our allies:
Cordoba seems to be heading for Kleves where Düsseldorf is already besieged by large forces from Kurpfalz, Hesse and Cologne. France has gathered an army (32670) in Ile de France but La Palice has lost a battle to the Helvetian army in Lyonnais.

16/10
Azzer is boarding our fleet who then set sails for The Baleares.
The Spanish army in Murcia is suddenly gone, perhaps they to boarded a fleet.

7/11
Düsseldorf has fallen to Cordoba and Spain waste no time but annexes Kleve.

26/11
Our fleet arrives to the Baleares just to find out that there's some 3000 Spanish soldiers stationed on the island. No use trying to land our troops there so we set sails for the Gulf of Almeira instead.
We spot a Spanish army (10782) in Aragonia and one in Leon (6736).

14/12
The Army from Leon marches into Estrameduras and the province is now in Spanish hands.

24/12
The Spaniards are landing 3878 cavalry on the Canary Islands and they are met by our army (2235) there.

1507
9/1
The Spanish cavalry have now completely destroyed our army on the Canary Islands.
The latest news from the war in France:
The French province of Luxembourg is now under siege by no less than 116000 enemy troops.
The Helvetian army now down to (21587) has stopped sieging Lyonnais and is now moving north, rampaging the French countryside.
La Palise (28514) is also heading north while Cordoba and another Spanish army is going south.

21/1
Azzer (961) lands in Murcia and then starts marching to Estrameduras.
We start recruiting 5000 new troops in Andalusia.

13/3
Azzer is now in control of Estrameduras

16/3
For the second time Mafra is charging the walls of Madrid and this time he's unstoppable. Mafra did an excellent job in this siege, in two attempts to storm the walls he only lost 817 infantry and 164 cavalry so his army is now (16628, 4205).
As we are by now very familiar with the streets of Madrid we quickly take a walk to the Royal Library where we are met by the principal librarian already waiting for us with all the latest maps ready. We examine the maps and find out that Spain have discovered a new nation of heathens in the New World, the Aztecs. We also find a nice little island, Curacao, that seems like a good place for our next trading post.
Our next order to Mafra is to take Valencia.

17/3
Yet another update on the war:
A French army (16442) is now in Helvetia besieging Zürich.
The huge army in Luxembourg are now trying to breach the walls.

26/3
Colonel Adrar is given the command over our new (5000) army in Andalusia.

2/4
Mafra arrives in Valencia and is laying siege to its minimal fortress with only 5000 men in the garrison.

12/4
Helvetia makes peace with France paying 141D in indemnity.
A large Spanish army (25600) shows up in Aragonia, where are they heading?

23/4
The French now report that they have lost Luxembourg to Kurpfalz and that Cordoba is in Lyonnais with a huge army (56972) marching south. This could be really bad news for us and we pray to Allah that he's not coming towards us.

29/5
The Spanish army in Aragonia has now reached Estrameduras but then, instead of marching to Castille to liberate their capital or to Toledo to raise our siege they are ordered back north again.

1/6
French makes peace with Hesse (status quo) and with Cologne (who has to pay 250D to France).

10/8
After almost exactly 11 months of siege Toledo surrenders to colonel Fayuom, now (12070, 0, 30). The Spaniards immediately offers us Toledo and Murcia in exchange for peace. The King, of course, wants us to accept but with no Spanish troops in sight and Valencia under siege, I decide that we don't accept their offer. If there's going to be peace in this war, it'll be on our terms.

1/9
Fayoum joins Mafra in the siege of Valencia and together they try to storm the walls but the Spanish defenders here are much tougher than their compatriots in Madrid and they quite easily repel our assault.
The supply situation in Valencia isn't very good so we order Mafra back to Castille to wait there until Fayoums cannons have done their work on the walls.

16/9
We are informed that van Sickingen and his 8601 men from Kurpafalz is besieging Pau, in the French province Béarn.

1/10
Our spies tells us that the peasants in Roussillion, tired of Spains constant wars, are now revolting. Excellent!

20/10
The trader we sent to Curacao failed to establish a trade post.

1/12
Allah is good to us, we receive a report from our ally Savoy and it turns out that Cordoba wasn't after us, instead he is now in Nice besieging the city. However he only commands a small army (9474) and nobody seems to know anything about what happened to the rest of his army. The Savoyans aren't worried though, they have a large army of 56972 men under Bayard on its way to Nice from Savoy.

13/12
We make a new attempt to establish a trade post in Curacao.
Mafra is ordered into Valencia again.

28/12
Mafra arrives in Valencia and again joins Fayoum in an attempt to storm the walls but these Spaniards really know how to fight and again we fail. The defenders are now down to only 1167 men, so next time I'm sure we'll succeed. Mafra marches back to Castille.

1508

16/1
France aren't doing very well right now, an ashamed French diplomat informs us that Béarn now is controlled by Kurpfalz.

12/2
We order Adrar (4751) to reinforce Fayoum in Valencia.
It's also reported that Cordoba was severely beaten in Nice and that he's retreating to Savoy with the remnants of his army (2305) with Bayard (38575) chasing him.
At the same time 31073 men from Spain and Cologne are laying siege to Besancon in Franche Comte (currently controlled by the French).

18/4
For the third time Mafra marches into Valencia and join Fayoum and Adrar in another charge against the walls.

25/4
At last, Valencia is now in our hands.

28/4
Now it's time for peace. Again we humiliate the Spaniards, demanding Toledo, Valencia and 250D in war indemnity. They humbly accept our offer but since they don't have 250D we have to settle with what they got, 69D.
Oh, what a glorious day! It took us 16 years but now we have what we have always dreamed about, a united Granada.
We stand with three armies in Valencia, Fayoums (7538, 0, 30), Mafras (8987, 2677) and Adrars (4727). Adrar was severely wounded in the siege (he lost both a leg and an eye) so his soldiers join Mafras army, now (13714, 2677).
We are still at war with Helvetia but offer them a white peace and they accept.
France is still at war with Spain, Poland, Kurpfalz, Naples and Savoy is still at war with Spain. (Not that we care, let the Christians fight).
We decide our next goal is to improve our relations with Maroc enough to be able to make them our vassal and we start by sending them a flattering letter. This improves our relation (46).

4/6
Update from our allies:
Franche Comte are now back in Spanish hands but Roussillon is now controlled by the rebels.
La Palice (17537) is now trying to take back Luxembourg from Kurpfalz while 6010 men from Kurpfalz is besieging Champagne.
The Scots also reports that Holland is revolting.

16/7
We now have a trade post in Curacao.

4/9
Hannover is now a vassal to Saxony.
We send a flattering letter to Maroc (61).

13/11
Kurpfalz makes a good peace with France receiving Béarn and Luxembourg in the peace negotiations.

19/11
Cyrenacia is now a vassal to the Ottomans.

18/12
Spain makes a status quo-peace with the Hanseatic League and they also makes peace with France receiving 71D in indemnity.

21/12
Another flattering letter to Maroc improves our relation (76).

1509

1/1
Our missionaries did a good job on the Canary Islands but some stubborn Christians took refuge in the mountains. These infidels, still loyal to the king of Spain have grown in strength (2486) and are now revolting, taking control of the unfortified and undefended island.
We start recruiting a new army (3000, 1000) in Gibraltar to quell the rebellions.
We also decide it's time to expand our trade post in Martinique into a colony and send away a settler.

5/1
Hesse is now a vassal to Kurpfalz.
We are also informed that the Spanish province of Flandres now is controlled by rebels.

3/3
Our new army is ready in Gibraltar, colonel Husein is put in charge.

13/3
Tuscany is now a vassal to France

10/5
Nasiryah, a courageous young Andalusian nobleman has built a ship and offers to sail out and explore the seas in the name of king Zueidina and Granada.

1/7
There's a rebellion in Valencia but Mafra easily defeats the rebel scum on the battlefield but annoying enough, forces still loyal to Spain in the city of Valencia, surprised and overwhelmed our garrison there and it's now controlled by them. Well, Mafra will soon have all their heads on poles.
Our colonization of Martinique was successful, now we'll just keep building it up until we have a city there.
We get the news that the Spaniards now have control of Roussillon again.

20/8
Husein lands on the Canary Islands but the infidel rebels fight like zealots and Husein is forced to withdraw back to the ships. The rebels are now down to 2005 men.

29/10
Hungary (Austria) declares war on the Ottomans (Iraq, Algeria, Tripolitania, Tunis, Cyrenacia).

26/11
Our fleet returns back to Andalusia with Huseins army. We pay a visit to the legendary hero from the first Spanish war, Husein, who still lives on his estates in Andalusia just to make sure this new incompetent colonel isn't a relative to him. He isn't and therefore he's no longer a colonel, his troops join colonel Azzers army instead (2828, 780).

8/12
We send a trader to expand our trade post in Curacao.

1510

1/1
The day the King had worried about is here, it's time for us to repay our loans. I tell the King I'll deal with this problem. I contact the bank and tell them that we just don't have any money to give them. Then we have no choice but to extend the loans for another five years, with a much higher interest, the say. That's fine, I say (in your dreams, I think) and I then leave the bank.
We send another settler to Martinique and then we send a flattering letter to Maroc, improving our relation (104). After that we have 8D left and I order our ministry of finance to put all of our monthly income in research. He points out that if we do that we'll lose 10D every month and that we'll go bankrupt within two months. Yes, I'm very well aware of that, that's the whole point, I tell him.

1/3
With 0D in the public treasury, a monthly income of -10D and no more loans available the state of Granada is declared bankrupt. There's great unrest among the people (-3 stability loss down to 0) and among the soldiers (morale down from strong to disciplined) but all our loans are now gone and inflation is down to 8%.
We now plunge all our monthly income (except 1-2D) into increasing stability.

5/6
Our trade post in Curacao is expanded.

6/6
The settler we sent to Martinique has successfully arrived.
We are told by the French that Kurpfalz have lost Béarn to rebel forces.

14/6
Mafra recaptures Valencia and the few rebels that survived the assault will soon wish they hadn't.

25/7
Hungary makes peace with the Ottomans, demanding 80D in indemnity.

19/8
Aden is now a vassal to Oman.

27/8
Würtemberg is now a vassal to Austria.

1511
1/1
Stability is now up to 1.
We send another settler to Martinique.

9/2
Baden is now a vassal to Helvetia.

19/2
Lorraine leaves our alliance to become a vassal to Austria.
The French informs us that Genoa now is part of our alliance.

22/5
It's time for us to strengthen our ties with the rest of the true Muslim-world (not those bloody Shiites of course) and we therefore arrange royal marriages with Algeria, Iraq, Tripolitania and the Crimean-Khanate.

7/6
Our colony in Martinique now has some 300 inhabitants.

14/9
Brandenburg is now a vassal to The Hanseatic League.

1/10
Stability now up to 2.

3/11
Spain makes peace with Savoy who pays 106D in indemnity.
We are also informed that Spain has lost Artois and Hainaut to rebel forces and that the French province Kent has revolted and Dover is now being sieged by the rebels.

1512

1/1
We send another settler to Martinique.

1/2
King Zueidana informs me that he has (without my knowledge) personally financed an addition to the fortification in Toledo and that it's now complete.

1/4
We are shocked yet happy when we receive the news that the rebellions in Artois and Flandres wasn't just another ordinary rebellion but instead part of a national liberation movement and that this movement now have declared Burgundy an independent country. This new country consists of Franche Comte, Flandres, Artois and Luxembourg (the capital).
Spain is of course eager to regain their lost provinces and Poland, Helvetia, Hesse and Cologne intervene to help them.

6/6
The settler we sent to Martinique was lost at sea.

1/7
The people are happy again and our stability is now back to normal, 3. But we still have trouble with the soldiers morale and that's a problem because there's no use to send forces to Wipe out the rebels on the Canary Islands as long as the morale isn't on top.

16/7
Thüringen is now a vassal to Bavaria.

22/9
The French ambassador informs us that all their troubles with rebels in their English provinces now are solved.
We send a flattering letter to Maroc and our relations are now up to (130).

1513

1/1
We send a settler to Martinique.

2/1
There seems to be some disturbance among the Christians, involving some guy named Martin Luther. The Catholics talk about this new form of Christianity in terms of Protestantism and they're really upset and worried. Suits us just fine!

21/3
We keep up our correspondence with Maroc sending another flattering letter (145).

7/6
We expanded our colony in Martinique.

26/9
Burgundy makes peace with Cologne ceding Artois and paying 250D in indemnity.

10/12
Burgundy makes a status quo-peace with Hesse.

12/12
We send another settler to Martinique.

1514

2/1
We start recruiting new soldiers (1000, 1000) in Andalusia and send a flattering letter to Maroc (170).

25/3
Tripolitania is now a vassal to Iraq.

18/5
Martinique now has some 500 inhabitants.

22/8
We just keep these flattering letters coming and with great results, our relation with Maroc is now (194).

20/10
We can now ask Maroc to become our vassals and so we do but they refuse and our relation drops to (165).

1515
1/1
We send an flattering and apologetic letter to Maroc and it works, relations go up to (192).
Another settler sets course for Martinique.

28/1
King Zueidina is making a speech to the people of Granada about the necessity for a small nation like ours to have a strong army in order to defend itself against big powermongering nations like Spain. And this speech really touches the heart of our citizens (no big surprise, after all it was I who wrote it) and a new army (5000, 1000) is created.

1/3
The morale of our armies are now back at full strength. At last we'll be able to get rid of the infidel rebels on the Canary Islands.

3/6
Tunisia is now a vassal to Algeria.

6/6
We succeed in expanding our colony in Martinique.
Azzer (4136, 1828) lands on the Canary Islands

21/6
Azzer finally finds and engages the rebels on the battlefield but he loses and again are our army forced to flee back to the ships. This is getting really annoying. But at least he managed to kill off some rebels and there's now only 698 remaining.

24/7
Russia (Moldavia, Denmark, Pskov) declares war on the Kazan-Khanate.

1/9
Valencia is revolting again, but colonel Mafra knows for sure how to deal with this sort of scum.

15/10
Azzer returns in great shame to Andalusia, but he'll soon be back on the Canary Islands, as a regular soldier in colonel Idriss army.

13/12
We make a new offer to Maroc, asking them if they don't want to be our vassals but they refuse again, relations dropping to (170). They just don't know what's best for them.
We send a settler to Martinique, if this one succeeds Martinique will grow into a town.

1516

20/1
Idriss lands on the Canary Islands and this time the rebels are defeated.
The Kazan-Khanate makes peace with Russia, paying 112D in indemnity.

21/1
Send another flattering and even more apologetic letter to Maroc and relations are now up to (191).

11/4
The French let us know that we have a new member of our alliance, the Knights of St John. We are not very pleased to hear that, those knights have always been fierce enemies to all the members of the true faith. We'll never help them fight any wars, that's for sure (but of course we don't say anything about that to our friends from France).

12/5
Nasiryah who has, up till now, being busy shipping troops to the Canary Islands and bringing back those who failed, now sets sail for Martinique with one warship and one transport.

18/5
Martinique is now a town with a population of 757 people,we start recruiting 3000 infantry to defend the island.

7/10
Nasiryah explores Tobago and Barbados.

12/10
Nasiryah arrives to Martinique and is immediately sent out again to explore the surrounding seas in the area.

1/11
When Idriss put down the rebellion on the Canary Islands some of the rebels escaped up in the mountains, now they return again with another rebellion but this time Idriss put it down quite easily.

17/12
We try to establish a new trade post in Guadeloupe, a neighbouring island to Martinique.

1517

14/1
Nasiryah explores Maracabio.

16/1
We start building a fortress in Martinique.

5/2
Nasiryah explores Yaraguay.

12/6
Nasiryah explores Amapa.

23/6
The trader we sent to Guadeloupe failed.

15/9
Nasiryah explores Maroni.

1/10
Once again the Canary Islands revolts and once again Idriss is victorious on the battlefield and drives the rebels back up into the mountains.

27/11
Burgundy makes peace with Poland, paying 123D in indemnity.

Summary:

This was another glorious period in the history of Granada. We have won another war against Spain and have been able to conquer all the four provinces that we have always considered to be ours by right. We now control five provinces on the Iberian Peninsula plus The Canary Islands. In the New World we have one town, Martinique and three trade posts.
Our annual income is now up to 62D.
We keep expanding our trade and now have five merchants in Andalusia, Tago, Genoa, Venice and Flandres.
Inflation is up to 13%.
We have also had one state-bankruptcy.
We achieved our diplomatic goal and were able to join an alliance with France. This alliance looks like this, relation in brackets :
France (109), Savoy (-43), Scotland (106), Genoa (-121) and Knights of St John (-176).
We have royal marriages with the following countries:
Maroc (200), Tunisia (103), the Ottoman Empire (31), Iraq (-36), Algeria (-49), Tripolitania (-39) and the Crimea-Khanate (-39).
We have lost 76930 men infantry (48805 in combat, 28125 of attrition) and 11452 men cavalry (7810 in combat, 3642 of attrition).
So, thing looks rather bright for the kingdom of Granada. The total strenght of our army is now 28315 men infantry (almost double to what we had in 1502), 4548 men cavalry (six times more than in 1502) and 30 cannons (compared to none in 1502).
Our fleet though, is still very small, just 1 warship and five transports.
The mighty Spain, who we feared a lot have turned out to be no more than a paper tiger. Put if they should stumble upon some competent leaders they may still pose a threat to us.
Having liberated all of Granada, we no longer have a CB against Spain so if we want to expand more our next target would rather be the Mameluks, those Shiite bastards, but to do that we first have to expand our fleet and raise more armies as well, because the troops we have now better stay in Granada. To do otherwise would be to ask the Spaniards to invade us.
On the diplomatic front our next target will be to make Maroc our vassal. It would also be nice if we, when our current alliance expires, could create a new one, including France but with us as the leaders.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economy Diplomacy Total
Granada 184 31 22 237
France 74 32 78 184
Russia 45 37 66 148

If you're looking for Spain I can inform you that they have dropped down to 17th place with 90 VPs.

19/6
Sibiria is now a vassal to Astrakhan.
Even though we didn't send any troops to help our allies we did send an observer and he now reports that France has lost a great battle in Lorraine but they have five new armies on the march, their total numbers are almost 95000 men. An army from Savoy (29838) is also on its way.

13/8
The French under La Palice are now in Lorraine laying siege to Metz.

20/10
Nasiryah discovers Surinam.

1/11
We now have a trade post in Tampico.

1519

1/1
We receive news that Karl V has been elected Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Holy? Bah, I'd prefer to call it unholy.
We send a trader to Guadeloupe.
Maybe it would be a good idea to improve our relations with some of our allies, so we send a flattering letter to Savoy (-38) and after having vassalized Maroc we now intend to do the same with Algeria and therefore send them a flattering letter as well (-17).
We also start recruiting 2000 new infantry in Toledo.

1/3
Kurpfalz is really on the move, now annexing Hesse.
We start building one transport in Andalusia. It's not much, I know, but at least it's a small first step to expand our fleet.

7/7
The trader we sent to Guadeloupe failed.

12/8
Lorraine is captured by the French.

14/8
Lorraine makes peace with France, paying 250D in indemnity.

14/9
Milan is now a vassal to Genoa.

22/12

We continue the expansion of our fleet, building one warship and one transport in Andalusia.

14/3
Nasiryah discovers Barahona.

1/6

We now have a trade post on Guadeloupe.

17/8
Nasiryah discovers Tortuga.

1/9
Abrar quells another rebellion on the Canary Islands.

14/4

8/10
Oman annexes Aden.
Since we have no plans to fight any naval battles for the moment we lower the maintenance level of our fleet to 50%.

1521

1/1
We send a trader to Antigua and we also send our usual flattering letters to Savoy (-4) and Algeria(30).

4/1
Nasiryah discovers Tocuvo.

17/1
France have really got the taste for attacking tiny, almost defenseless countries. This time they declare war on Burgundy and all the other members of our alliance join in on the slaughter (including me). Burgundys only ally England comes to their help.

19/2
Again our only contribution to the war effort is some observers and he reports that a French army (10175) is now besieging Luxembourg.

14/4
A Burgundian army (29983) lays siege to the Spanish province of Hainaut.

22/4

A smaller Burgundian army is now in Champagne, laying siege to Reims.

1522

We expand our fleet even further building one warship and two transports.
We send flattering letters to Savoy (24) and Algeria (80).

9/5
Colonel Husein (2970) lands on Barahona and is immediately attacked by 400 natives. Those heathens are no match for our brave soldiers and when the battle ends every single one of them lies dead on the battlefield along with only 32 of our men.

15/5
We send a trader to Barahona.
Burgundy offers us a status quo-peace and we can't see any reason why we wouldn't accept.

6/12
We now have a trade post in Barahona.

1524

1/1

12/9
Our attempt to establish a trade post in Totuga failed.

30/9
A group of wealthy merchants in Gibraltar are concerned that our weak navy won't be able to protect their merchantmen from pirates and therefore they provide us with seven warships to strengthen our fleet.

1/11
We now can make hackbuts (Land Tech 5).

1525

1/1
Prussia is the first country to convert to Protestantism.

2/1
We send a trader to Tortuga and a flattering letter to Algeria (109). No more letters to Savoy though, we don't need them to love us just like us a bit and they already do that now.
We recruit some more troops, (1000, 1000) in Valencia and (2000) in Andalusia.
One of our spies in Spain reports that two provinces (Roussillion and Gerona) are controlled by rebels and that a rebel army is in Catalonia, besieging Barcelona.

18/5
Catalonia is now controlled by rebels as well.

1/6
Catalonia (Gerona and Catalonia, with the capital Barcelona) declare their independence from Spain. Poland, Naples and Cologne join Spain in the war that follows.

2/6
I go to see the King and say to him that Catalonias independence, for sure must be a gift from Allah and I suggest that we immediately declare war on them and go for a quick annexation. He don't seems to be overly enthusiastic about the idea. But we have no valid reason for declaring war on them, the people won't like this and our relation with our allies will most definitely be damaged if we go for annexation, he says. Of course we have a valid reason, I say, they are small, they are weak and they are Christians. As I said before, this really is a gift from Allah and it would be blasphemy not to accept it. This will be the easiest war we have ever fought and besides, if we don't take these provinces now, then Spain surely will and we don't want that. Everything that weakens Spain strengthens us. And you know what I always say:
It is a general and necessary law of nature to rule whatever you can.
And I can assure you that when it comes to Catalonia, we can!
When it comes to our allies, well, they'll get over it, especially if we spend some money on them and by the way, France don't have a perfect record when it comes to respecting the sovereignty of smaller states either.
The King knows when he is beaten and the next thing we do is to declare war on Catalonia and since this will be such an easy war so we don't care to invite our allies.
We have three standing armies, colonel Nadjufs (11197, 2974) in Valencia, colonel Anabas (11328, 0, 30) in Toledo and colonel Moktars (6000, 1000, 10) in Sierra Nevada and we order them all to begin their march to Catalonia.

6/6
Pskov is now a vassal to Russia.
Algeria annexes Tunisia and for some reason our relation drops down to (13).

7/6
Actually we don't mind Algeria annexing Tunisia and we send them a flattering letter to let them know that, this improves our relation (37).

17/6
Nadjaf arrives in Catalonia and is met by 2494 enemy soldiers.

4/7
Nadjaf has severely beaten the Catalonians, he only lost 90 infantry and 18 cavalry in the battle and quickly moves on to Gerona where 10674 Spaniards are already besieging the walls.

12/7
Anaba arrives in Catalonia and lays siege to Barcelona.

2/8
Nadjaf arrives in Gerona and joins the Spanish soldiers in their siege, quite a bizarre situation I must say.

3/8
The trader we sent to Tortuga failed to establish a trade post there.

13/8
Gerona falls and much to the dismay of the Spaniards it's Nadjaf (now 10714, 2878) who takes control of the province.
Catalonia now offers us a status quo-peace but of course we refuse.

17/8
Moktar arrives in Catalonia to help with the siege.

29/8
Nadjaf marches in to Catalonia as well, and we now have enough soldiers to make an attempt to breach the walls.

28/9
Barcelona falls to our armies and we annex the country only four months after it declared its independence. Allah is truly on our side!!!
Our allies are upset and our relations suffer but at least France don't kick us out of the alliance. Relations with our allies is now: France (24), Savoy (-55), Scotland (47), Genoa (-184) and the Knights of St John (-200).
In the once Royal residence in Barcelona we find some maps, most likely of Spanish origin. When we examine the maps we find out that Spain has discovered yet another nation of heathens in the New World, the Incas.
We decide to let Nadjaf (9378, 2611) remain in Catalonia to deal with the expected rebellions, Moktar (5067, 827, 10) is ordered back to Gibraltar and Anaba (8602, 0, 30) to Toledo.

24/10
Stability is now up to 2.

1526

1/1
The Hanseatic League converts to Protestantism.
To honour Allah we send a missionary to Gerona along with some mosque-builders.
We'd better try to improve our relation with the French again so we send a letter to their king (34) and we send another to Algeria (60).

9/2
We recruit 1000 infantry in Toledo.

1/3
The missionary succeeded, Gerona now is a now faithful province.

29/3
Savoy is now a vassal to France.

3/6
Our royal marriage with Oman expires.

6/6
We arrange a new royal marriage with Oman (129).

7/8
Bohemia is now a vassal to Hungary.

17/9
We send a flattering letter to Algeria (83).

24/11
Stability is now back to 3.

1/12
There is a rebellion in Gerona, 11374 rebels besieges the walls.

1527

1/1
For the third time we send a trader to Tortuga and we send a flattering letter to Algeria (103).
We recruit (1000, 1000) in Valencia.

15/2
The ottomans, (Cyrenacia, Algeria, Oman, the Crimean-Khanate) declares war on the Mameluks (Venice, Portugal).

19/3
Our new recruits reinforces Nadjafs army, now (10278, 3591) in Catalonia.

4/5
Nadjaf defeats the rebels in Gerona only losing (149, 29).

2/8
Once more we've failed to establish a trade post in Tortuga.

18/10
Poland (Spain, Cologne, Naples, Kurpfalz, the Papal-state) declares war on Courland (England, Navarre).

1/12
One of our spies informs that 10890 men from Navarre are in Béarn (owned by Kurpfalz), laying siege to Pau, while 30798 Spanish soldiers is besieging Navarres capitol San Sebastian. There is also a battle between Portugal and Algeria in Algarve.

20/12
The Algerians are now besieging Elvas (Algarve).

1528

1/1
Sweden converts to Protestantism.
Navarre makes peace with Spain, paying 76D to the Spaniards.
Courland is annexed by Poland.
Stubborn as we are, we send another trader to Tortuga.
We send flattering letters to France (43) and Algeria (115).
We start recruiting (3000) in Toledo and (1000, 1000) in Catalonia.

5/3
Béarn is now controlled by Navarre.

3/5
The king makes another speech informing our people of the wonders of the New World and they really seem to believe what they hear. People are gathering in our harbours just waiting for a ship to get them overseas. (3 new settlers).

5/8
We're not very surprised to hear that our trader to Tortuga once again failed but we immediately send another one.

1/12
Our naval technology is now up to level 4.

1529

1/1
Hannover converts to Protestantism.
We send flattering letters to France (61) and Algeria (151) and we send traders to Havana and Curacao.
We recruit (2000, 1000) in Sierra Nevada.

6/3
On the fifth attempt we finally succeed in establishing a trade post in Tortuga.

1/4
Another rebellion in Gerona, 12074 rebels is besieging the city.

28/6
We expand our trade post in Curacao, now level 3.
Algeria now controls Oporto.

5/9
We fail to establish a trade post in Havana.

28/9
Nadjaf (11129, 4562) marches in to Gerona and defeats the rebel scum. Then he returns to Catalonia.

1/10
Yet another revolt, this time in Valencia where 16099 rebels lays siege to the city.

22/10
We need more troops to deal with all the rebellions and we recruit 3000 infantry in Catalonia.

9/11
Genoa annexes Milan.

1530

1/1
The nationalists in Gerona refuse to give up, this time they have gathered 12774 men.
We send a trader to Curacao and a flattering letter to Algeria (176).
We start recruiting (2000, 1000) in Catalonia.

17/1
Nadjaf (12547, 4246) battles the rebels (15926) in Valencia and it's an easy win. He then returns to Catalonia to wait for the new recruits to join his army before he puts down the rebellion in Gerona.

4/6
We expanded our trade post in Curacao. Now level 4.

19/6
Husein lands on Barbados and defeats the natives there.

21/6
The Ottomans makes peace with Venice. Istria is now part of the Ottoman Empire.

27/6
Nadjaf defeats the rebels in Gerona.

21/8
The Mameluks makes a status quo-peace with the Crimeans.

1/10
Nadjaf has to put down another rebellion in Gerona.

15/11
We send a flattering letter to Algeria (198).
11790 Portuguese soldiers are trying to take back Oporto from the Algerians.

Summary:
This was 13 relatively peaceful years in in Granadas history. We didn't plan for any wars but when Allah presented us with the opportunity we quickly seized it and managed to gain two provinces in a war that lasted less than four months. We also sailed around the New World exploring new provinces, and we managed to expand our colonial possessions with some more trade posts. So we now have seven provinces on the Iberian peninsula and the Canary Islands. In the new world we have one city, Martinique (882 inhabitants) and eight trade posts, Jamaica (4), Curacao (4), Guadeluope (2), Parana (1), Antigua (1), Tampico (1), Barahona (1) and Tortuga (1).
Our annual income is now up to 80D.
During this period we haven't cared to send any more merchants so we still have our five merchants in Andalusia, Tago, Genoa, Flandres and Venice.
Inflation is up to 16%.
On the diplomatic front we succeeded in making Maroc our vassal and our relations with our allies are slowly recovering from our annexation of Catalonia and it now looks like this:
France (68), Savoy (-35), Scotland (75), Genoa (-158) and the Knights of St John (-173).
We have royal marriages with the following countries:
Algeria (200), Iraq(92), Triploitania (90), the Crimean-Khanate (90) and the Ottomans (175).
Our total losses is now up to 87660 men infantry (53681 in combat, 33979 of attrition) and 12909 men cavalry (8676 in combat, 4230 of attrition). We have also lost two warships and three transports, all of attrition.
In conclusion, things are still looking bright for our glorious nation, the total strength of our army is now 38774 men infantry (10000 more than in 1518), 8094 men cavalry (almost double to what we had in 1518) and 40 cannons (compared to 30 in 1518).
We have made some investment in expanding our fleet and that, plus the help of some wealthy merchants, means that our fleet now begins to look quite respectable, 8 warships and as many transports (compared to 1 warship and 5 transports in 1518).
But we still feel that we need some more ships (and a lot of more soldiers) before we are ready to go after the Mameluks. But those Shiite dogs can rest assured that sooner or later we will pay them a visit, in fact this is our next goal (unless Allah presents us with another golden opportunity of course).
Diplomatically our next goal is to vassalize Algeria and we also hope that the next five years will be peaceful because then our alliance expires and we'll be able to invite France to a new alliance. with us in charge.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economy Diplomacy Total
France 158 73 104 336
Granada 223 54 49 327
Austria ??? ?? 200 257

Spain has recovered quite well and are now up to 9th place with 170 victory points.

You have made Gradada conciderable force in Europe. And in New World as well. Guess Spanish king is sitting in his throne and trying to guess what went wrong. Reconquista failed and Catalonia gaining independance :) And for you, there is no greater pleasure then a small stab in the back of the Christian :) Attacking Catalonia was really low. But a good idea anyway!
Nice going!

wow, really good job with both granada and the AAR
nice to see them doing well rather being stomped out by spain in the first five years like they have been in just about evey GC ive played
tho, have a couple of questions for you
who did you switch granada with to make it a major power? how is that country doing?
also, did you at all modify the leaders/monarch files? or does granada had its fair share of leaders. again, i've never seen it with any, but thats mainly cuz spain usually wipes it out?
also, how many settlers/merchants/diplomats do you get annually?
lastly, ive heard some non-european nations have limits in how far they can advance their technology. does this include granada or are they on a similar technology plane as the europeans? how are your techs compared to your neighbors/the majors?
once again, good job with both granada and the AAR

This is our path

Masse I,

One of the best AARs so far. I have also indulged the challenge of becoming a military advisor for the Sultan of Gharnata. Instead of taking Cadiz and Gibraltar, our forces took Cadiz and the rich gold mines of Toledo before January 1495.

Several questions that you may want to answer:

1. We didn't waste any ducats on softening France, instead we used it to build up our seasoned veterans and pormoting bailiffs to jump start our meager economy, is that wise ?

2. We are planning on taking the war to the Spanish throne and looking to grab Gibraltar and Murcia in about 2 more years, any strategic blunder in that ?

3. Our ships could not venture into the terra-incognita, what gives ?

Thanks,
Jundi

Thanks a lot for all the praise and encouragement guys. I'm glad you enjoy it, makes it even more fun playing and writing this AAR. I've played the next part of it but haven't had the time to write it down and post it yet.

Despite me being Swedish I put Granada in Swedens place. They don't seem to suffer that much though, currently they're ranked 11th with 248 VP.
No I didn't touch the leaders/monarch files so so far I'm stuck with my crappy colonels (1, 0, 1) who for some reason change their names every time I load a saved game. And king Zueidina is still with me too.
At the present I get 8 merchants, 1 settler (thanks to the ship yard in Andalusia) and 4 diplomats (all thanks to royal diplomacy).
I'm doing fine in the tech race despite being a Muslim country. I'm first among the majors in land tech with level 6 (the others are on level 3-5), Trade tech with level 4 (3-4), and infrastructure with level 4 (2-4) and I'm second in naval tech with level 4 (England is on level 5 and the others are on level 3-4).
The standings above are a bit ahead of what I have posted in the AAR, it will happen in future parts of it.

To answer your questions:

1. I fought my first two wars without the French as my allied so sure you can do without them, but I must say that I feel much safer with them by my side. Another thought was that when I had taken all the CB-provinces from Spain, my alliance with France would make it possible for me to expand even further on the Iberian peninsula, without me having to DOW Spain, most preferable would of course be Spain declaring war on France so I could join our allies in a defensive war. But of course it's always nice to build up your army and improve your provinces as well. If it's wise or not you'll soon find out when you keep playing.

2. As long as you have enough troops to succeed I think it's a good idea. You'd better take as much as you can before they start to upgrade their fortresses.

3. You need an explorer to do that. I got mine from a random event so all you can do right now is to wait and hope for one to show up.

Good luck crushing those infidel dogs!

Part IV 1531-1549

1531

1/1
England converts to Protestantism. This is really starting to look good, a divided Christianity is a weaker Christianity.
We send traders to Barbados and to a small island outside the coast of Africa, St Helena.
We start recruiting 3000 infantry in Sierra Nevada.
At last the stubborn Christians on the Canary Islands have been domesticated and we no longer have to fear any rebellions there.

6/2
England makes a status quo-peace with Cologne.

8/2
Russia (Moldavia, Denmark, Pskov, the Teutonic Knights) declares war on the Kazan-Khanate.

10/3
Navarre makes a status quo-peace with Kurpfalz.

30/6
We establish a new trade post in St Helena.

2/7
The trader we sent to Barbados failed.

1/8
There is a revolt in Valencia, 15399 rebels are besieging the city walls.

10/9
Colonel Queseima (13101, 4988) defeats the rebels in Valencia.

2/11
Oporto is now back under Portuguese control.

1532

1/1
Kurpfalz converts to Protestantism.

The Kazan-Khanate is really suffering from this war, now they have to give up Ryazan and another 250D to the Teutonic Knights.

25/7
We arrange a royal marriage with the Golden Horde.

2/9
A great scandal has shaken our court. It turns out that a few of our highest public officials have deviated from the true faith and have been worshipping Mammon for a time now. The King is furious and promise me that he will deal with these corrupt scoundrels personally. Unfortunately he goes in for his task so thoroughly that he have no time to spend on our foreign affairs. (The Kings diplomatic skills decrease for 23 months).

16/10
The Golden Horde acquires Lipetsk from Russia in exchange for peace.

7/11
Not a very good war for Russia either, this time they have to pay 250D in war indemnity to the Kazan-Khanate in order to bring this war to an end.

17/9
Hungary annexes Bohemia.

1/12
Great technological progress. We have now reached late renaissance (level 3) in trade as well as in infrastructure and we may now create monopolies and appoint Chief Judges.

1537

1/1

Parma is a very small country (only one province, Modena) and we don't expect them to last very long against the French armies and we don't have any wishes for expanding our own territory to Italy so at first we have no plans to participate in the war. But then on the other hand, we haven't had a war in almost 13 years so our troops could sure use some action and if we can take control of their only province before the French does we may at least get some money as a reward.

We send a flattering letter to France (106).
We upgrade our sheriff in Gerona to a bailiff.

22/1
Prussia is now a vassal to England.

10/4
One of our spies informs us that there's a lot of unrest in the Spanish Netherlands, it seems the people there have all turned Calvinists and that there's strong forces working for independence from Spain. Flandres and Friesen have already fallen to the rebels. Yes! This is exactly what we've been waiting for, this splitting up of Christianity just had to cause them trouble sooner or later. Summary:
This was 19 peaceful years not only for us but for entire Europe, not a single major war was fought only some minor. The only war we was a part of didn't gave us very much (except for a bunch of victory points) as almost all the money we got in indemnity was used to cover our losses. We have reached new levels of technology, allowing us to create monopolies and appoint Chief Judges. We have also begun to improve the infrastructure of our provinces, and even though we haven't expanded our territory in Europe or North Africa we have at least expanded our colonial possessions even further. So we now have the same old seven provinces on the Iberian peninsula and the Canary Islands but in the New World we have one city, Martinique (1090 inhabitants) and fifteen trade posts, Jamaica (5), Guadeloupe (5), Curacao (5), Barbados (4), Parana (2), Tortuga (1), Barahona (1), St Martin (1), Antigua (1), Tobago (1), Tampico (1), Yaraguay (1), Santa Cruz (1), Aires (1) and St Helena (1).
Our annual income is now up to 97D.
We have expanded our trade and now have a monopoly in Andalusia and five merchants in Tago, Flandres, Genoa, Venice, Holstein, Thrace and Empalme.
Inflation is up to 21%.
On the diplomatic front we still have Maroc as our vassal (200) and we have also tried to make Algeria our vassal but no success so far. Our alliance looks like this:
France (101), Scotland (200), Helvetia (92) and Algeria (200).
We have royal marriages with the following countries:
The Ottomans (200), Algeria (200), the Crimean-Khanate (200), Hedjaz (94), Astrakhan (91), Nubia (47), Oman (36) and the Golden Horde (-34).
Our total losses is now up to 112184 men infantry (65559 in combat, 46625 of attrition), 18552 men cavalry (10512 in combat, 8040 of attrition) and 3 cannons (all in combat). We have also lost 5 warships and 3 transports (all of attrition).
In conclusion things are still looking bright for us, our annual income is still on the rise and the total strength of our army is now 53250 men infantry (+14476 ), 13448 men cavalry (+5354) and 77 cannons (+37).
Our fleet now has 6 warships (-2) and 13 transports (+5).
We now feel that we are strong enough to take on the Mameluks so that will be our next move, we will also keep trying to make Algeria our vassal even though they seem to be very stubborn about not being vassalized.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economy Diplomacy Total
France 170 170 145 486
Granada 238 116 107 462
Ott.Emp. 147 47 145 349

Spain is still climbing upwards and are now in 6th place with 297 victory points.

Oh those stupid French

Couldn't agree more ;). By the way, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you can't vassalise a nation until you've got an alliance and a royal marriage with them. Or is than a diplomatic annexation I'm thinking of?

I made Maroc my vassal without any alliance so you don't need that, but you do need a royal marriage.

2/7
Our alliance expires.

3/7
We invite France (123), Helvetia (114), Scotland (200) and Algeria (200) to join our new alliance and they all accept.
We raise the maintenance level of our fleet to 100%.

1/8
Our infrastructure has now reached early baroque (level 4), we can now build Art Academies.

2/9
We now have a trade post in Tucovo.

26/9
The time has finally come to teach those Shiite Mameluk bastards a well-deserved lesson. We declare on the Mameluks and France, Scotland and Algeria join us in our war effort. Helvetia have no way to ever send any armies to Mameluk territory so they don't honour the alliance. We understand their position and invite them back and they accept.
The Mameluks also call for their allies to help them and Venice and Holland join the war. However the majority of their alliance (Hungary, Austria, the Teutonic Knights and the Knights of St John) turn their backs to the Mameluks.

29/10
Our fleet commanded by Nasiryah (6, 0, 13) is attacked by 9 Mameluk warships in the Bay of Alexandria.

6/11
Colonel Biskra lands in Egypt and start to siege Cairo without further delay.
As soon as the army is ashore Nasiryah flees the sea battle.

7/11
Saada loses another battle against the rebels in Gerona and his army (7305, 4199) has to retreat back to Catalonia. The rebels are now down to 5645 men.

11/11
The Mameluks offer us a 'white peace' but of course we refuse.
Biskra (20579, 4964, 37) is attacked by 10000 newly recruited Mameluks in Egypt and it's an easy win.

1551

1/1
The Mameluks are desperate to drive Biskra (20550, 4957, 37) out from Egypt and launch another attack, this time with (5432, 12170). Biskra is once again victorious but it's a bloody battle and our forces is now down to (13408, 3936, 27).

2/1
We recruit (2000, 2000) in Valencia.

28/1
The Mameluks asks for a status quo-peace but we have no interest in that.

20/2
Saada has finally put down the revolt in Gerona.

22/2
3960 mounted Mameluks attack us in Egypt but to no use.

12/4
Hedjaz is now a vassal to Oman.

8/5
Yet another peace proposal from the Mameluks. They really don't seem to understand that we won't accept a status quo-peace. We try to make our point clearer to them and send back the messenger in two pieces.
27065 Venetians have landed in Catalonia so we offer Venice a status quo-peace but they refuse. Our observers in France informs us that 25804 Dutch soldiers are laying siege to Luxembourg but Guise (75983) has taken Flandres and is now on his way to Zeeland.

14/5
A huge Venetian fleet (48, 22, 3) attacks the remnants of Nasiryahs fleet (12 transports) in the Gulf of Valencia. Nasiryah knows when he's beaten and flees to the Gulf of Almeira.

1/6
21000 Catalonians are rebelling and their first target to attack is the Venetian army there. The Venetians dispose of the rebels rather easy but they lose some 3000 men. Quite amusing if you ask me.

We order colonel Wessera (15371, 2000, 40) to Catalonia from Toledo.

11/7
The Mameluks obviously didn't learn their lesson but send another status quo-peace offer. This time the messenger returns in four pieces.

23/7
Genoa is now a vassal to Austria.

2/8
Saada wipes out 3960 Mameluks in Egypt.

18/8
Another messenger from the Mameluks arrive and now we are up to eight pieces.
The Venetian army raise their siege and march of to who knows where.
No need for Wessera in Catalonia then so we let him stop where he is in Valencia.
We are informed that Guise (89284) now controls Zeeland as well. We have no interest in France expanding on behalf of the Dutch so we offer Holland a status quo-peace and they gratefully accept.

7/9
Cairo falls and we now control Egypt. Biskra (12473, 3803, 27) marches on to Delta.
Venice offers us a status quo-peace and we accept.

21/9
Our army in Egypt is caught by a small Mameluk army (2803). We have no problems beating them but it's annoying that we have to start our march to Delta all over again.

23/10
Spain makes peace with Holland. Holland pays 66D.

2/11
These cannons are really slowing us down and Biskra is once again caught by a small Mameluk army (3882). another easy victory.

1552

7/1
We send a trader to Barbados.
We recruit (2000, 1000) in Catalonia.

20/1
For the third time we are stopped from reaching Delta but this time Biskra wipes out all the 2813 Mameluks.

28/1
The Mameluks stupidity is almost as big as their heresy. Or maybe they just use us to get rid of people they don't like. Anyway they offer us a status quo-peace and get thirtytwo small packages in return.

21/2
All our new recruits in Valencia has been put under colonel Dernas command and now he lands in Alexandria with his army (4673, 1935, 10).

2/3
Derna begins with a simple victory when he fights off 7000 newly recruited Mameluks.

28/3
At last Biskra reaches Delta. He splits up his army and (5419, 1760, 13) is left in Delta under his command to besiege Damietta while the rest is sent to join Derna in Alexandria.

21/9
Wessera is now in Castille, laying siege to Madrid.

24/9
Saada is attacked by 48555 Spaniards in Gerona and immediately retreats back to Catalonia.

25/9
Cairo don't seem to hold very much longer. It would be disastrous for us if the Mameluks would recapture their capital so in an desperate attempt to raise the siege we order Biskra to drive the enemy out of Egypt.

10/10
The Spaniards in Gerona are marching on to France.

16/10
The Kazan-Khanate makes peace with Sweden who gets 250D in indemnity.

5/11
Even though he's heavily outnumbered Biskra charges down on the Mameluks in Egypt and in a heroic, fierce and bloody battle his (4736, 1623, 13) army forces the Mameluks (9061, 7605) to retreat. Cairo is saved! The remnants of Biskras army (1150, 1111, 8) start marching back to Delta.

13/11
Good news. The Ottomans (Cyrenacia, Hedjaz, Oman, Wallachia) declares war on the Mameluks (Holland, Hungary, Austria). Now the Mameluks have to fight a war on two fronts.

29/11
Russia makes a status quo-peace with the Kazan-Khanate.

1553

17/1
A sad day in the history of Granada. Colonel Biskras small army (1150, 1111, 8) is caught by a much larger Mameluk army (6184, 6375) and though our brave soldiers fight hard and valiantly, the Mameluk cavalry routes us and not one of our soldiers leave the battlefield alive. Biskras body is literally torn to pieces by furious Mameluk soldiers. He was a true Granadian hero and his name will forever be praised and honoured by all true Muslims. When the news of Biskras fate reaches me I take an oath that no matter how long it takes the bloody Shiites will pay the ultimate price for this ignominy.

23/1

20/7

We feel it's time for us to end this war (for now) and offer peace to the Mameluks demandin Alexandria and 500D in indemnity. They accept and Alexandria with its CoT is now a part of Granada we also get 30D which is all they got.
Alexandria is a rich province and can support a big number of soldiers so it will be a nice build-up place for our next war with the Mameluks. For there will be a next war and then another and then another until this nation of Shiite dogs is completely annihilated.
We are pleased to hear that the inhabitants of Alexandria (all true Muslims) honour us as their liberators and saviours from the Shiite yoke. Meaning that we don't have to fear any revolts in the province.

8/12
Spain offers us Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Murcia. The King is tempted but I'm not, we have no use for two colonies that it would cost us a fortune to expand to cities. I say we wait for Wessera to take Aragon and then we can talk peace.

Spain recaptures Nicaragua.
26621 French and Scots are in Leon besieging Salamanca.

Summary:
After a long relatively peaceful period in Granadas as well as Europes history now followed 23 more violent years. We started the period with four years of war against the Mameluks and Spain then followed a long period of peace before Europe was dragged in to a period of constant warfare, beginning in 1566 and going on for six years. During this violent period four different alliances (a total of 15 countries) declared war on our ally, France and we were dragged in to all these conflicts. Our main enemies was Navarre and Portugal. All the wars went great for our victorious armies and we gained a lot of territory and money. So we now have nine provinces on the Iberian peninsula (which makes us the major power there as the Spaniards are down to five and the Portuguese remain at three), the Canary Islands, Tangiers and Alexandria.
Our annual income is up to 135D.
Inflation is up to 26%.
Our colonial possessions are now one city, Martinique (1414 inhabitants), one colony, Chesapeake (280 inhabitants) and twentysix trade posts, four at level 5, one at level 2 and twenty at level 1.
We have expanded our trade a bit further and have monopolies in Andalusia and Empalme, five merchants in Tago, Flandres, Holland, Holstein, Genoa, Venice, Thrace and two merchants in Dominica.
On the diplomatic front Maroc (198) and Nubia (200) is our vassals while Algeria is still refusing our offers. Our alliance looks like this:
France (162), Helvetia (200) and Algeria (200).
We have royal marriages with the following countries:
The Ottomans (200), astrakhan (200), Algeria (200) and Oman (176).
Our total losses is now up to 221137 men infantry (139562 in combat, 81575 of attrition), 37048 men cavalry (22407, 14641) and 52 cannons (48, 4). We have also lost 13 warships (1, 12) and 8 transports (all of attrition).
In conclusion things are still looking bright for our glorious nation, in fact it looks brighter than ever before. The total strength of our army is now 29297 men infantry (-9477 compared to 1549), 16952 men cavalry (+8858) and 78 cannons (+38).
Our fleet is not so impressive though, only 8 transports left (compared to 8 warships and 8 transports in 1549). But that is not such a big problem anymore as we now have a foothold in Africa (Alexandria) from where we can wage war on the Mameluks.
And that is what we plan to do next, build up our armies and teach the Shiite dogs a well-deserved lesson. For the moment we have no intention to fight the Spaniards, but should they declare war on us or any of our allies we won't hesitate to relieve them of some more of their Iberian provinces.
Diplomatically we still want to vassalize Algeria and now when we have a common border with Maroc we may try to make them a full part of our nation.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economy Diplomacy Total
Granada 351 289 209 850
France 194 294 217 705
Austria ? ? 303 502

Spain drops one place and are down to 7th with 376 victory points tailing the Swedes in 6th place with 378 VP.

We are quite surprised when 12547 Scots are landing in Gibraltar.

'Excuse me laddie, but is this tha way to tha pub? No? Och buggerit, I knew we shouldae turned right at Glasgae instead...'

And if the Mameluks sent any more envoys you would have had to invest in a grinder...

LOL. :)

5/3
Azzers army, reinforced with the new recruits from Chesapeake is now up to (3184, 637).

5/4
We now feel we are strong enough to teach the Mameluks another lesson so we declare war on them. France, Helvetia and Algeria all intervene but not so our vassals Nubia. We are sad to hear that our Sunni brothers in Oman and Astrakhan not only have allied themselves with the Shiites but that they actually honour their alliance and come to the heretics help. We promise ourselves though, that we won't fight our poor misled brothers unless absolutely necessary.
We have colonel Fahtis army (17893, 12327, 41) in Alexandria surrounded by enemies, 6027 Mameluks in Quattara, 10455 in Cataract and 4950 in Egypt. Fahti lets his troops wait in Alexandria for the Maeluks to do the first move.

The beginning of the second Mameluk War 13/4 1581

1/6
The largest of the Mameluks armies (10455) attacks Fahti in Alexandria but we win a great victory, annihilating the enemy while losing only (442, 63).

England (Holland, Persia, Sweden, Navarre, the Hanseatic League) declares war on France (Algeria). Helvetia dishonour the alliance and 32061 soldiers in Navarre make us do the same. (Stability down to 2).
We explain our situation for the French and they are very understanding and let us join the alliance again.
we reorganize our army in Alexandria, colonel Fahti (10451, 0, 41) is ordered to take Egypt and the other army commanded by colonel Zuwara (7000, 12264) is sent to Delta.

2/6
The Mameluks offers us a status quo-peace and we sharpens our knives again.

15/6
We now have a trade post in Catabwa.

1/8
Zuwara arrives in Delta but is ordered to march to Sinai to fight back any troops that tries to reach Egypt.

2/8
We feel really bad about fighting other Sunnis so we offer a status quo-peace to Oman but they obviously want this madness to continue.

4/8
Having heard about our peace offer to Oman, the Mameluks tries their luck but with the same bloody result.

20/9
Zuwara (6052, 12075) meets (4911, 10430) Mameluks in the Sinai desert. In a fierce and bloody battle the Mameluks are forced to retreat to Samaria with what is left of their army (2051, 2704). Zuwara, now (5635, 11991) chases after them.

17/10
Zuwara (3138, 11991) catches the fleeing Mameluks (638, 2216) in Samaria and wipes them out completely. He then marches on to Judea.

9/11
Zuwara (2506, 11366) wipes out another 3960 Mameluks in Judea. At the same time 9900 Mameluks are spotted in Jordan on their way to Sinai and we order Zuwara to Jordan to intercept them.

24/11
Portugal (Bavaria, the Papal-state, Scotland, the Ottomans) declares war on France (Algeria, Tuscany). We honour our alliance but then offers a white peace to Portugal and they accept.

25/11
Fahti breaches the walls of Cairo and we now control Egypt. He then marches on to Delta.

26/11
The Mameluks offer us Sinai and we find this so funny that we actually let the messenger keep his head and return home in one piece.

27/11
Zuwara wasn't fast enough and the 9900 Mameluks are now in Sinai.

5/12
Zuwara (1121, 11089) is attacked by 2994 troops from Oman in Jordan but he has no problem beating them.

9/12
We offer Oman a status quo peace but they refuse.

14/12
The Mameluk army (9584) in Sinai returns to Jordan but are slaughtered to he last man by Zuwara who then marches his army (537, 10972) to Judea.

1582

1/1
A new CoT emerges in Anglia.

2/1
Astrakhan lands an army (14224) in Alexandria and lays siege to the city.
The Mameluks again offer us a status quo-peace, I don't know if I should admire their persistence or despise their stupidity but I soon chose the second alternative.
We offer a status quo-peace to Astrakhan but they refuse.
In Iberia a Portuguese army is in Estrameduras, besieging Badajoz but at the same time, Guise and his 40900 French are on their way to Portugal.

A snapshot from the second Mameluk War 27/6 1588

29/6
Damietta falls and we now control Delta.

1/7
The Mameluks offer us Delta and Cataract and since we are beginning to run low on troops we decide that this is enough for now so we accept their offer.
We order all our armies to gather in Delta and we send a missionary to the Orthodox Cataract.
Estrameduras is now controlled by the Portuguese but that don't seem to bother Guise who is standing in Toledo with his army (12330, 8656, 25) doing nothing.

1/9
All our armies (8121, 7887, 38) have gathered in Delta and are put under colonel Fahtis command. Colonel Suwara was severely injured in the very last battle of this war and is sent to the Canary Islands to recuperate.

27/9
The missionary we sent to Cataract was successful and all the 309 inhabitants in the colony are now true Muslims.

1/12
Stability is back up to 3.

2/12
Our great victory over the Shiites really impressed our Nubian vassals so when we offer them to be a part of our nation instead of just paying tribute to us they happily accept. Even though all the Nubians are happy (we won't risk any revolts here) our relations with other countries have been damaged:
The Ottomans (100), Algeria (84), Maroc (66), France (75) and Portugal (-66).
For the moment we don't care very much about the other nations but instead we are glad to have added three provinces, Batn al Hajar (1730 inh), Nubia (3031) and Sudan (6820), all with bailiffs, Chief Judges and level 2 fortifications, to our kingdom. We also control the Nubian Army (8825, 7765) and we put colonel Mukalla in charge.

5/12
We'd better improve our relations with Maroc before they decide they don't want to be our vassals anymore so we send them a flattering letter telling them that we, of course, have no intention what so ever to try to make them a part of our kingdom as well, and they seem to fall for it (97).
The French (12176) now tries to recapture Estrameduras from Portugal.

As expected the rest of the world don't approve of us expanding our territory so relations drop down a bit, the Ottomans (23), Algeria (40), France (51). This is a day of great sorrow for our glorious nation. Our beloved king Zueidana passes away, having reached the respectable age of 117 years. His 112 years on the throne (he was only 15 when crowned king) have seen Granada grow from a tiny country on the brink of extinction to a major power in Europe and he will surely be looked upon as one of the greatest king ever to sit on a throne by future generations. We declare three days of national mourning (it should have been a month, but after all, we have a war to fight). Having outlived all his children, and some of his grandchildren as well, I decide to put the kings favourite grand grandchild Beni Kassem on the throne. King Zueidana is dead, long live king Beni Kassem.

Summary:
This 27 years-period started off with eight years of peace but then hell broke loose and we spent twelve of the following nineteen years in a state of war. Here's a list of the wars we fought, between which years they lasted and who the main enemy (enemies) was, 1581-1582 the Mameluks, 1585-1587 Spain, 1590-1592 Navarre, England, 1591-1593 the Mameluks, Algeria, 1593-1594 Portugal and 1593-1596 Spain.
Once again our armies were victorious and we gained new territories from Spain as well as form the Mameluks. We also had two great diplomatic successes when we peacefully annexed first Nubia and then Maroc. We now have twelve provinces on the Iberian peninsula, the Portuguese still have three, the Spaniards are down to two and the French now have one. We also have the Canary Islands and eleven provinces in Africa. Our colonial possessions is now up to three cities (Martinique (1917 inh), Micmac (880 inh) and Chesapeake (?), and 33 trade posts, four at level 5, one at level 2 and 28 at level 1).
Our annual income is up to 250D.
Inflation is up to 30%.
We have monopolies in Empalme, Andalusia and Tago, five merchants in Venice, Genoa, Flandres, Holland, Thrace and one merchant in Holstein.
On the diplomatic front we have annexed our two vassals and we have also broken our ties with France and our new alliance looks like this:
Oman (200), Astrakhan (200) and Algeria (200).
We have royal marriages with the following countries:
The Ottomans (111), Oman (200), Astakhan (200) and Algeria (200).
Our total losses are now up to 308416 men infantry (187964 in combat, 120452 of attrition), 56748 men cavalry (32410, 24338) and 81 cannons (68, 13). We have also lost 20 warships (1, 19) and 13 transports (1, 12).
In conclusion we are still doing great, we keep beating up the Spaniards whenever we fight them and we do the same to the Mameluks. The total strength of our army is now 49843 men infantry (+20546 compared to 1572), 50017 men cavalry (+33065) and 89 cannons (+11).
Our fleet on the other hand is even more pathetic than before (not my fault, I swear) and now only have 5 transports (compared to 8 in 1572).
Our next goal will be the Mameluks (again) and this time we want to take them out for good. As usual we wont bother the Spaniards anymore but if they come to us looking for trouble, then trouble they will find. One thing that annoys us is the French presence on the Iberian peninsula, in Estrameduras, so sooner or later (preferably later) we'll have to face our former allies on the battlefield .
Diplomatically we still have this almost obsessive idea about making Algeria our vassals so we'll just keep on trying.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economy Diplomacy Total
Granada 517 530 281 1329
France 305 498 195 998
China ? 615 ? 691

A rather unexpected guest on the top list is the Knights of St John in 7th place with 462 VP. The Spaniards have dropped down to 14th place with 373 VP.
