Horse Lords and Conclave, the two masterpieces of DLCs combined and produced an even greater masterpiece - the never ending, unkillable, half-ethereal, half-reinforcing hosts:

1. Host #1 appears out of nowhere. I beat it, get 3 prestige and 0.1 military points, host runs.
2. Host #1 comes back. I beat it, get 1 prestige and 0.1 military points, host runs.
3. Host #2 appears out of nowhere. I beat it, get 0 military points, host runs.
4. Host #1 comes back again. I beat it, get 2 prestige and 0.1 military points, host runs.
5. Host #2 comes back. I beat it, get 1 prestige and 0.1 military points, host runs.
6. Host #3 appears out of nowhere. etc., etc.

20 years later ....

77. Host #17 appears out of nowhere. I beat it, host runs.
78. Host #1's leader dies of old age. My ruler was so used to this host that he immediately turns stressed, depressed, homosexual and weak and dies too.

Did some developer lose his mind?

By any chance, was one of them named Tyler Durden ? It would make sense.

Thanks to them I got many free prestige and mil points. Try Makedon dynasty in viking age. They die for Constantinople (in both meanings ;))
Amazing, aren't they, these prestige and military points. Check the one below, whole freaking 1 prestige. 100 battles like this one and I'll have 100 prestige, seems imbalanced. Not sure about the military points though, can you help me with the math? How many such battles do I need to advance anything?

Your commander (not you) leads 3,000 men in a minor skirmish in the wilds of Lithuania some time in the Dark Ages - 30-40 dead on the field, another 60-70 missing presumed run off for home.

Big battle that - I'd write a saga about it. Maybe build a cathedral in its honour. Kids will be reading about this in history class for millennia to come. They'll be teaching this at Sandhurst and West Point.

Seriously - one Prestige point is too much.

I agree with you. I was merely answering @atraphoenix who wrote "I got many free prestige and mil points". So what's your point (assuming you have one)?

How about trying again with a group battle with units with decent pursue damage? I personnaly kill hosts in about 3 battles (you automatically get 100% WS if you get it down to 0 men...).

So a cavalry retinue, chase them till you kill them? I'll try.

EDIT: Works, kind of. Sometimes you need to chase them from Vilnius to Bashkiria, pay the attrition price and meanwhile deal with more hosts.

I nearly got 15- 20 % of my military advancements from that viking guys. In my current game year 915-ERE Makedon I have around 12k retinues that made me seduce to form absolute rule that I still denying my impulses for the sake of realm peace. By the way realm peace is worthless in comparison to extra 2 holdings.
I sent my 20+ marshal to my capital to search mil tech and plus endless vikings methinks I may get 20k retinues in the next decade.
My plan is to form absolute ruler after I get 20k retinues. I just use them just crushing peasant revolts so full light infantry for now and ultimatums have already become history - it looks vassal Varangians and Brotherhood also reduces faction powers + 10k - 12k light infantry police force.

Yeah, the increased frequency of Norse conquest hosts is really getting irritating. Trope of the Day goes to Goddamned Bats.

killcreek - it shows Marienburg making you 49 gold!!! Can you explain or show how it is making such an amazing amount of gold in 950?

Not in my game. I'm also trying to figure that bottom one that is netting him 75. Wiks? I can't find a "Wiks" in my game

Actually reforming Romuva in 867 start is as easy as taking candy from a baby (seriously it only takes 2 subjugation wars and few temple burning here and there)

Question 1 : How he can gain 49 gold?

Actually city with bunch of upgrades assuming he got a Toll Booth (+9 gold), Port II (+6 gold), City Walls II (+0,4 gold) equal 15,4 gold + a Trade Zone bonus let's say around 30-40% since he got no competitors + a decent steward, you can pretty much gain that much.

Question 2 : What is Wiks and how it can net him 75 gold?

Wiks actually is not a baronies nor a holdings name, it refers to his Family Palace/House that based from his dynasty name (Bajoras Wilks, High Chief of Marienburg), if you upgrade the vault, each level substantially increase the tax by 1 gold (+4, +5, +6 gold) as well as +2 intrigue, combine that with Grand Palace uprades (+28 golds) you got 42 golds base. And since Family Palace linked with the capital, it also get the Trade Zone bonus and Steward Collect taxes modifier. So 75 gold is totally possible. Actually with insane Trade Zone bonus and high stewardship it can net you around 100-110 gold.

So he must be playing as a Merchant Republic himself? Otherwise he'd be getting wrong-type holding penalties on those cities right? Or do other religions/groups not have wrong type holding penalties?
