April 9th,1940, Copenhagen Denmark. The German Luftwaffe demonstrated its air power above my home city Copenhagen. I have talked with plenty of old danes about that specific day; they had no idea why these huge formations of planes flew above them. They didn't even know they were Germans. True story.
No internet back then and people were not as informed as they are today. I know an old guy who saw two Heinkels escorted by a messerschmidt fly right above his home. Entire family running out in the garden to see where that huge noise came from. Back then people were not used to aircraft's. In fact most had never seen a flying aircraft in real life.
Morning hours, April 9th., 1940. People are on their way to work. A formation of Heinkels above the city center of Copenhagen.
It was this constant wave of German bombers (Show Of Force) which made the politicians decide to surrender our country. All this while the German Ambassador in Copenhagen were begging our government to stop any resistance. Just like his colleague did in Oslo.
Anyhow, this Show Of Force made the Danish administration decide to surrender. X. Fliegerkorps simply had too many bombers and fighters, while we had almost no anti air defense. At top a few batteries?
Before the invasion, Danish politicians had nightmares about a Warsaw like bombing of Copenhagen. That is why they decided not to invest in anti air units. They wanted our capital to be an open city. In the game - i think it has 6 in ant air defence?! - not realistic at all. Back in 1940, almost zero anti air in my country.
As a game mission, Show Of Force against a peaceful nation will work. The mission purpose is to reduce the defenders morale to zero, so a surrender will come instantly.
Criteria: 400 bombers - 1 daytime mission.
