I believe there should be less piracy, and more randomness in piracy; every time a pirate would meet the triggers to appear right now, Id give it a 1/4 chance to do so, and 3/4 chance that nothing happens. Obviously you'd still have incentive to patrol, but if you didnt, it wouldnt get out of hand RIGHT AWAY.

It would be fine if they didn't go off on mass exploring missions! If they were at least limitted a bit to help the human player keep up with the exploration....

I'm sure when they introduced the concept of colonial range in NA it said the AI would not explore beyond it's colonial range, so I think they are limited (it may have been with 2.0, or a subsequent fix in one of the NA patches, can't remember which).

Perhaps the best thing would be to add high-med-low & maybe none for piracy to the options menu. But for me, it's not the frequency of pirates which is the problem--I'm fine with that--but the ping-ponging & their combativess. For 1 thing, I'd give them no large ships. Light, galley, & transport should suffice. These are pirates, after all; they want profit more than glory.

On a completely different tack, I note that Spain still doesn't form, & that units still fight for 1 day after the end of a battle.

There's some problem with "Gain cardinal in the curia" mission. I just accomplished it and then ... was given it again right away. Four times I did succeed before another mission was chosen from the pool.

Shouldn't there be a lock or something against getting the same mission multiple times in a row?

Agree on this. Piracy is a concept that's great in theory but ruined in practice due to the enormous amounts of pirates. At some points of the game, one must wonder if 80% of the world population have ships and are pirates and as you said, their combativeness. They are pirates, they shouldn't just dive head-on against every single fleet of the nations, they should use cunning and choose their targets carefully.

Another point that this patch still doesn't address yet is the pingponging of regular armies. When an army has a very low morale it shouldn't retreat, it should be either wiped out by a strong morale opponent or receive very heavy attrition from desertions and such, especially in foreign lands.

Pirates fleets and rebel armies could have a lower threshhold for being overwhelmed... essentially, pirates fleets would always sink if outnumbered, and rebel armies would always disperse if outnumbered.

Agreed on the piracy issue - it seemed like a good idea awhile back, but nowadays I usually just get irritated. I just find no fun in assigning patrols of pirate killing fleets (or having to pull single ships back home whenever I'm at war.) It's not difficult - it is just tedious.

Yeah, CoT ledger has a memory leak or something. My game REALLY slows down when I enter it. Gets back to normal speed when I quit it.

Also, it would be nice to have a feature to make your army follow enemy army. Would make ping-pong fights much easier. My army would just go after running away ping-pong army wherever they go until they disappear...

Sort of like a patrol function but then for armies

No. Not patrol. "Follow enemy until his death or yours" command.

Rebels appear in one of your provinces. You pick one of your stacks, pick that command and point at rebels. Your stack goes to the province enemy is in and engages. They fight a battle and win. Enemy retreats to a bordering province. Your stack automatically goes there and engages enemies again. They retreat again, your stack follows. They engage for the last time and destroy enemy completely. You clicked only two times, you didn't need to freaking send your army 4 times after same enemy, they knew what to do.

That was just an example. You can imagine how that would work in wars too...

It's not really that important, but it annoys me, especially because if you change it, you can't play multiplayer games, so I always have to swap files...
and it's not important enough to open new topic...

With the 3.2 beta patch I get a CTD everytime I try to access the COT ledger no matter which way I try, with saved games or new games.

I tried to reproduce this, both in SP and MP, and could not, although the speed never went over 2. Might make sure to pause before accessing the COT ledger, or at least slowing down?

It is a definite problem and I have reported it and will track it in case the devs need more info to reproduce this on their systems. I get a CTD every single time no matter what time I access the ledger, during pause or unpause, and I have tried multiple fresh installs.

Is it just me or does it seem like allies never come to your aid anymore? I join their wars and whatnot, but as soon as I need them, they're nowhere around. Ingrates.

I think Paradox has found a good balance of having them follow me into wars and having them call BS when I am trying to take advantage of them. I really like having to consider jumping into war after I have spent a lot of money sucking up to another country so that I don't lose the alliance suddenly if I am being too much of a gamey human. I do, however, hope that in a future patch we have the ability to ask for help or go to war on our own. I am surprised that option is not included right now.

*Edit, UmOceano beat me to it about the call allies button we really need.
