I find that title a bit lacking for a ruler of a totalitarian materialist empire. I suggest these variants:
1. Chief/High/Supreme/First Architect
2. Overseer (and Despotic hegemony gets Hegemon instead)
3. Chief/High/Supreme/First Moderator
4. Chief/High/Supreme/First Administrator
5. Chief/High/Supreme/First Neuromancer

Agreed. It's a kinda funny title to see an AI leader with, but painfully lame as an actual title that your leader is going to be stuck with for centuries.

But it isn't the title of the ruler, just the chief technician in charge of maintenance of the neural network doing the actual ruling. (At least that's what the government name and leader title sound like.)

But as I came in to this topic I realized. Any people who have had a neural network integrated into their species. What do you think would be the most important, the most culturally revered job in such a society?

The tech guy.

I'm imagining the High Technician as taking on the title out of the good old fashioned faux humility that you find in the cleverer sort of despot. Stalin's official title was General Secretary.

This kind of blew my mind. The name was offputting at first but holy shit. This makes so much sense now. He's like the Tech Support God.

All hail High Technician.

It makes so much more sense especially when we have all the species. Come on do you want to call the queen of your insectoid race generic "emperor"?

Even in EU4 I wanted to rename titles more than names of heir...

You have to remember that Stalin's title was General Secretary and that initially that's all he was supposed to be, but he found a way to get a lot more power out of that position than people thought, and was never inclined to change his title even when he was the unquestioned ruler of the country. It makes sense to me that, in a society entirely dependent on a vast computer network, that someone with the seemingly insignificant title of Technician could end up being the absolute ruler.

The problem is that you transfer from being the Overseer to being the High Technician, while Stalin became the de facto leader as the Genereal Secretary. It sounds like a downgrade, that would've made sense if the actual ruler changed, but there is only change in his title, and change in title should feel like an upgrade rather than downgrade when you upgrade your government and your ruler doesnt change. Also the "High" part doesnt fit Technician, in my opinion (it sounds like High Priest, High King, High Magus, High Judge, something that has it roots in the medieval society entrenched in traditions). Chief, First or Supreme Technician has a better ring to it.

Oh! I will have to make sure any Despotic Hegemony I create has "Enterprise" in its name. ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT IS BEST ARCHITECT.

You're not RPing hard enough!

This is THE GUY who handles technical issues for the machine intelligence that administrates the empire. He's advisor, assistant, and doctor to the most powerful thing in the nation. He guides the nation and the NNetwork executes his plan. The whole society is his network and he is its tech!

Have you ever played the RPG Paranoia? In it, a Computer rules the City and the Society... And the most powerful people are the ones able to directy access its code, the programmers able to change it, and manipulate it, and which are the most important and prestigious social class.

In this government, you aren´t the ruler. The ruler is a PC. You are the guy who codes the computer... And decides how it thinks.
