I've been playing with a bunch of nasty hive-minded cockroaches (a pity hive-mind seems not compatible with irradiated, though). The hive happens to be quite developed technologically and has reached evolutionary mastery.

Now, while modifying the species I've found that Nerve Stapled has changed quite a bit from previous versions an happens to give a nice 10% bonus to production, but prevents the pops from generating leaders (which is actually a bonus, as this allows avoiding leaders from a template focused on production). It also prevents the pop being a ruler or a specialist.

So the thing is that as a hive mind, there are no rulers nor specialist. Only complex and menial drones. I don't know if this was intended or not, but it basically allows all pops having that +10% bonus, then have a single pop with leader oriented traits that will basically generate all the leaders. Doesn't this look like a bit overpowered?

Yeah. Should certainly prevent complex jobs at least. I was being careful with using it, but then realized that they can still do everything...

Also as a note... after gene-modding into nerve stapled I got some of my leaders take that form (when I specialise I usually also change appearance). If I try the recruit leaders, leaders from the nerve-stapled species appear for recruiting. I also expected that nerve stapled pops shouldn't be able to perform complex-drone jobs. Note that the erudite and nerve stapled are mutually exclusive, so that kind of makes sense.

I do think that having that a Hive Mind should have its pops auto-adapt to their jobs. At least the ones that have genetic mastery. I am talking from a RP point of view here...
