Late game, clans have levies almost tenfold the size of equally sized feudal realms. The size of clan armies become so ridiculously large, that both do they not only steamroll every non-clan, but the maintenance upkeep bankrupts these mega-clans. As an example from my current observational game, the Abbasid army is c.a. 190 000 soldiers, while the only slightly smaller Byzantine Empire can only muster c.a. 20 000 troops. Meanwhile, the Abbasids have a monthly income of 115, but a treasury of -75 000, tanked only from the occasions it raises its military. The same trend holds for every other mega-clan in this run.
