Too busy keeping Manipur alive for The Animal Kingdom, only now I realised France & Austria did honour their rivalry. Spain and Ottomans are non-existent. And I swear I had nothing to do with it. (1.31.3).

Looks like ottomans got piled on by PLC Austria Mamluks etc so were dismantled convincingly. But I think Castile is more likely a PU integrated situation at a guess, but you should be able to confirm via the history. Although Kaffa/Adal eating Ethiopia and Junagaree expanding is also notable.

Yes, You are right about Castile, just checked the province history in Spanish lands, all the cores are annexed to France on the same date (Sep 1, 1636).

Looking at this game and few last one I see that Castile and France often ally each other this patch.

Since I am based in India this game the most surprising thing was Bengal-Jaunpur alliance - this should simply be not allowed - in fact they need be historical rivals.
Bahmans were the most strong and I could get an alliance with them that helped me survive - of course I had to get them killed later as I needed their provinces for the achievement.

In India Devs should ensure some historical rivals in India between:

  • Gujarat-Malwa-Mewar (all against each other) (This is working well I suppose - only that Mewar fails to survive mostly).
  • Jaunpur-Delhi particularly when Saiyyads have been defeated by Lodis (most of the time opposite happens) for historical accuracy, game should start with dynastic relation between Delhi and Jaunpur and when Lodis win Jaunpur should get a cases belli to subjugate Lodis since Jaunpur queen still has legitimacy over Sayyid realm now under Lodis - nonetheless the relationship between Jaunpur and Delhi should be historical rivals irrespective of dynasty.
  • Jaunpur-Bengal - a fierce one in fact.
  • Mewar-Delhi (it is shame that some longest lasting dynasties of Rajasthan that survived in real life always fails in eu4 timelines). Needs better modelling than just estates.
  • Vijay-Bahmans - rivalry is well maintained but Nobility should be very difficult to manage by both the AI. Bahmans break in to 5 due to nobility rivalry and independence - prominent Bahman noble forming independent states. Vijay particularly after 1565 get further weakened by their own recalcitrant Nayaks (Nobility). The permanent Maratha council is a lazy work and unnecessary.

Ottoman dying seems to be a more common occurrence these days. Between their early enemies of Venice, and later Commonwealth, Austria, and Mamluks, they seems to sink more often than the past. Mamluks in particular, seems to be doing pretty well these days.

As for France, I'm pretty sure there was a French mission that allows them to PU Castille/Spain, so they may not even need to be allied.
