As I understand it, there are no neighborhood as in Simcity (2k to 2013)Am I mistaken? Is there any chance that some kind of trade system be added to the game in the future?

Additionally, I know there is no multiplayer ala Simcity 2013, but would it be a good idea to allow some sort of multiplayer with ressources trade as n SC4 with the region view? It doesn't seem to be that hard to do (some values, some treaty to create), but I'm not a programmer.

Let me just quote the FAQ, pinned in this very sub-forum:

Is my city connected to others?
There is an outside world that will buy/sell resources and goods from your city, as well as send tourists. This outside world is not represented in the game, however.

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...ties-Skylines-Dev-Diary-5-Outside-Connections

"The outside world is there to help find a balance for your city. The most optimal situation would be to produce only enough for your city, but when you are trying to find this balance between different zones, instead of the city filling up with goods they just are sold outside for smaller profits to help keep the game going. There is only one city in the game world an that is yours (you can have different saves but the cities are not connected) so the outside world is just the big unknown that will send tourists to your city, sell you what you need and accept goods endlessly. The focus of Cities: Skylines is your very own city so you don't have to worry about any other ones!" - Co_Karoliina (Link)
Same for the multiplayer question:
Is Cities: Skylines multiplayer?
No. Cities: Skylines was designed to be the best single player experience possible.

"Honestly I would not expect CSL to head into an online mode in any near future unless there's an unprecedented amount of feedback asking for this after launch, which I really can't see happening. Still it's not impossible, just improbable.
And I agree that more singleplayer gameplay is a lot more valuable than bloating it with a MP mode."

why not just make multiple communities on all 9 tiles, and have each of them create a specific resource, which then creates trade between the communities. Its really the same thing, except your in control of everything at the same time

I always think that when ppl ask for neighbour cities. If you unlock the 25 titles you have 100km² to build your city or divide into idk 5 cities of 20km² each?

Anyway an optional multi would be awesome for me. To play with friends, trade resources. Maybe give him some river pollution. XD But since that in Skyline you can expand your town i dont see how would that be possible. Or either you all pick your starting titles (all 9) or you are limited to the initial one.

Here are 3 arguments for region play:

1. We want to have multiple large cities. We don't want to divide 100km² into 3 or 4 smaller cities. We want several co-existing cities that each use up all (or most) of each 100km² area.

2. We want more to create a region of over 1 million people. 900k in City A, 800k in City B, 950k in City C, etc. Some people just like those huge numbers, even if it means the game only runs one of those cities at a time.

3. Our hardware isn't good enough to simulate a high population. What if my PC starts lagging at 500k, and I want to have 1 million citizens? Region play can separate "instances" of cities being run at any one time, and help players with lower spec'ed PCs reach those numbers even if "instanced", so to speak.

-

This also means ultimately that you need adjacent maps. Very similar to SC2013, except with 10km x 10km "plots", and not 2km x 2km.

Well like Moo said if the feedback is huge they may consider getting us some multiplayer. So for now we just have to wait. =P Maybe make a poll in the future to see how will people react to a possible optional multi or 100% singleplayer only.

But for now its just a dream, they are not going to add this with less than 1 month to the release, its a huge work to add multi and they would have to change a lot of things.

But keep in mind that if only 2k of 200k people really want this feature and the rest is "whatever i dont care" i dont think they'll waste time and resource for that.

That's rather what I mean : SC4 region system in C:SL would be wonderful. There would just be a screeshot of each city from a big distance, then paste them on a big map with squares, and you could navigate between them. I don't know how difficult it would be to have, however. Given Paradox likes multiplayer, it could happen.

Also, thank you for the answer about neighborhood. At least we have that now. I thought there were no neighborhood. I would have feel lonely in my plot of land.

Also, sorry for the double post...

Since there are neighbour cities, it it possible to have treaties with them : sell/buy x electricity, y water and z garbage, as in SC2-5?

I don't think it should be that difficult. The "background" cities won't be animated. They'll just be backdrops off in the distance. If such a feature exists for C:SL I hope to create a huge, multi-region "super region" along a coast with a highway that stretches for dozens of kilometres with various cities and towns along the way. Something California-inspired.
