So a neighboring empire experimented with jump drives and started the unbound event. The portal is near my boarder and the unbound have started to attack my systems, my two 10k fleets were crushed in seconds. Do I have a chance to salvage this save? The only thing I can think to do is let the unbound rampage my "southern" sectors while I try to build a large enough fleet to take them out, but with all the damage they are causing I don't think my economy will be able to handle the massive fleet is will take to fight back.

Try building a few Fortresses on the outlying areas and see it that redirects the "UNBIDDEN" long enough for you to build a 100K+ fleet, otherwise best to just set speed to Fastest and watch the carnage unfold. ;)

You're probably screwed.

My experience is that a properly-equipped fleet of about 40-50k power can take on a single Unbidden fleet and win, but much more than that and they'll be overwhelmed. If you play your cards right you can take out any Anchors they've built, but the moment you pop into their portal's system you'll get wiped out by multiple fleets.
