Negative stability popups

I'm with Kurblius, great advisor bonus is one of the best ways to get a stability boost. Invest as many magistrates as possible into "paint portrait" to keep your cultural tradition between 85% and 95%, then every advisor you buy will be 5 or 6 stars. I find that I get the great advisor random event most frequently when I have the advisor that gives a legitimacy boost (can't remember what they're called) but hiring a 5-star artist is probably the best idea, because even without the +2 stability from great advisor, you get +15 monthly investment in stability.
do you by any chance have con. monacy? If so, thats the reason, there is no way you can keep your self over 0 stab. with that kind of gov, its also the primacy reason why the AI Ûber FAILS late game. There is only some kind of Diktatorship or something less advanced govement.

My 150 years of bad luck seems to be over now, though. I have played an additional 80 or so years now and it's been a completely different game. Are there scripts in the game that give bad popups more often during certain time periods? I have that impression now, because my first 50 years were also fine.

I know that there are some, like Times of Troubles and Peasant Wars that can only fire under certain slider conditions.
There is something suspicious about this topic. Yesterday I read this thread for the first time and since then I have been given 4 negative stab events (ex. madness of king, comet...) in 7 years. Man, you gotta be cursed! 
Very odd to say the least. I myself have received bad runs but nothing like 120 years of it

That explains why the curse lifted. It passed over to you.
