Having just read this http://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeIAmA/comments/2bb1xj/explain_macbeth_like_iama_hardcore_crusader_kings/, I'm wondering if it's possible to have successful assassinations trigger an event or event chain (possibly for all characters without cruel, deceitful, or cynical traits, and with kind, honest, and zealous increasing the probability) that leads to characters becoming wracked with guilt and having to choose between options that give them chances of receiving traits like depressed, stressed, drunkard, paranoid, decadent, etc.

I certainly murder a lot of people in my games with very few repercussions.

I agree. Murder is a little too rewarding....

Agreed. It would be a good way to balance removing the option from kind/'good' characters without making murder something a supposedly kind individual can do without a second thought.

More events related to stuff you do directly in-game? Hell yes.

However, basic criminology shows us that those who commit murder are much, much more likely than the average person to commit it again. In other words, AI murder plots shouldn't really happen unless they're the type who is ready to do it again, which is the type that would not experience guilt.

A general might also have some kind of mental scarring after a battle, and more so after a siege, where soldiers go in and loot and rape and stuff, he might have a heroic BSOD wondering what he's done.
