RE: Need Your Help; Garrisons, Pointed Questions, Tips/Advice to "Resistance to Occupation"

Hi all

I really need your help right now...

I understand most of it, and found that new "Occupation" screen. It has selected a Cavalry/Counter Insurgency Division Model, with AC's and MP's. ALL is now well with that.

I have pretty good stock of materials, in storage

1- I am getting Resistance to occupation, so how do I address this ? Do I NEED to build those Divisions, and put them in a Garrison ARMY ? Or is the build of those Garrisons now automatic, as long as you have stocks of materials...

2- a) Tips on how to address that Resistance to occupation ?
b) Do I have a good model CI "Counter Insurgency" Anti Resistance Division, or am I missing something ?

3- I have about 10+ Territories with Resistance now, its getting worse.. If I put , extra Divisions as a "DEFEND" Order Manually, in a Garrison ARMY , and highlight these TERRITORIES, will that help and remove the Resistance (Essentially, WHAT WE USED TO DO before La Resistance....)

I would really appreciate your help, all the odder TUTORIAL Videos, like MordredViking are PRE-La resistance..

Thx in advance all
Jean

1. By choosing an occupation law, they differ in terms of effects on resistance and compliance. Watch tooltips (they also show effective change when hovering over another law than the active one)

2. Best bet is to raise compliance, failing that, pick a harsher occupation law. This is intensive in terms of manpower, Equipment and losses.
Min resistance is always 10%, and you want to keep it below 25% at all costs. To achieve this, use either cavalry formations or arnoured cars, or a mix thereof. They are the best suppression units. MP is worthwile with larger templates.

3. No. Not a bit.

1. The garrison divisions are automatically built and assigned. You cannot build them yourself, though you do get to make the garrison division template that will be used.

2. Cavalry are still the best at suppression as are armored cars. The armored cars will reduce the manpower loses, but then you lose armored cars instead. There is probably a middle ground for your situation. Typically, I start off with only cavalry battalions and the MP company. Adding any other type of support company besides the MP company has no effect, though they will suffer loses, so best to leave them out. Even the hospital has no effect. The most effective divisions is one MP company and 25 battalions of cavalry/armored cars. This maximizes the MP company. You can use research to upgrade your MP company and reduce your loses.

3. Divisions on map have no effect against resistance. Only the off-map garrison divisions effect the resistance.

The occupation laws are hard to learn at first. Their effect is slow, meaning the feedback is hard to gauge, but it pays to read the tool-tip on each one as you hover over it. It will show you what law will help increase compliance and how much more manpower will be required and the effect on casualties. Instead of instantly getting all the factories from a conquered country, now you will get a small portion that will grow slowly over time. One thing I had to learn was that resistance will get worse, before it gets better.

*Edit When you have the resistance window open, take a moment to look at the world map. Provinces suffering resistance will have numbers on them. Hover your mouse over the province and you can see how high the resistance trying to get to. This gives you some idea of how high the resistance is going to climb. Before I saw that, I felt I was always losing the resistance fight. Now I see that it is going to go up, before it gets better. You can reduce that end number with occupation laws and/or conducting spy missions on those provinces.

Yep.

In addition:

You have to "assign" this template for "off-map-garrison-duty"!
In the main screen click in the left circle under your country flag ( occupied countries ) and click on the template which is shown in the upper space and choose your "garrison-template" to be used.

Yep.

In addition:

The template in the upper-left corner is the garrison template used by default for all territories. For extra micro-management satisfaction, it's possible to assign different templates on a per-territory basis, or even on a per-state basis!

Would it not be better to use Pure INF instead of CAV due to the increased use of equipment?

The only purpose of those off-map-garrison is to perform supression.

4 INF do the same amount of supression as 3 CAV. ( INF = 1.5, CAV=2 )
4 INF need 400 Infantry-equipment ( 100 each )
3 CAV need 360 Infantry-equipment ( 120 each )

Make your choice ;)
