I'm not a big mod user primarily because there are / were so many bugs in Stellaris prior to the new patch that I figured more mods = more bugs. I did try a few mods recently that I believe thoroughly improved my gaming experience. I'll list them below, and then I'd like to ask those who use mods to suggest a few and please let me know why you like or suggest that mod. Thanks!
Mods currently installed:
1. Amazing Space Battles - This is one of the best mods I've tried and I simply love it. It slows the battles down and makes the whole experience much more exciting. I have over 1000 hours in Stellaris and I've been bored by the small number of ships in large fleets that actually fire something visible in vanilla and with the speed of the battles. The battles themselves are the best part of the game from my perspective.
2. Extra Ship Components 3.0 - This is a must have for people who are tired of the very limited selection of weapons in vanilla. There are also components that increase sublight speed, building that generate other resources, and a few other surprises. The amazing thing is that the AI uses them as well.
3. UI Overhaul Dynamic + Tiny Outliner - These are simply necessary for anyone who plays with a larger map. The amount of scrolling it saves and the far better UI design are invaluable to me.
What I'd be looking for is an established mod that would make the battles a bit better or would give me more things to build. I would also want something that the AI would use as well. BTW, I'm aware that Starnet is a recommended AI replacement. The thing I don't know about that mod is what difficulty level I would want to start at. I prefer hated empires (purifier, devouring swarm, determined exterminator) and I currently play on Grand Admiral scaling. I find the first 100 years a challenge and then I simply roll over the remaining empires not including the ancients. I usually hit 140-150 years in before I can take on those without many losses. Thanks!
