Need some advice

Hi!

Having some trouble in my current game. I'm playing as portugal focusing on colonisation, but suddenly I managed to inherit Burgundy.
Now this is kind of a big problem because half of the territory has french cores on it, the other half is part of the HRE, so the Emperor is starting to ask for those lands.(as I have no cores on them)

France hates me (-200 relations) and I can't possible win a land war against them. I might be willing to sell the french cores back to them as those aren't the richest provinces, but I would hate to give up the other provinces to the HRE ( expecially antwerpen)

Any way I could possible keep the provinces witouth going to war with the HRE?

Or release burgundy as a vassal.

give all the provinces to france.

I would say sell a french core then release as many vassals as you can.

Remove the provinces you want to keep from the empire by province decision.

Sell the French cores to other nations with cores on the provinces and/or people that hate France. Austria looks like a good choice for that. You don't want France to get stronger or they will tear Castille up and then border you-that can only end in tears...
