It appears there is a bug i wasn't aware of where countries can westernize as long as YOU control one of their cores, regardless of whether or not it is a trade company. I'm going for a world conquest here and was relying on being able to protectorate all of india, so this is obviously an incredibly serious problem, so i'm looking for advice as to how to proceed.
My plan as of now is to:
(1) immediately sell back both of orissa's cores to orissa, which i believe should remove my core, preventing them from westernizing off of me like Madurai did.
(2) then full annex the remainder of madurai as soon as our truce is up and add it to the trade company. (I'm even consdering truce breaking here since i'm unluckily stuck with a 15 year truce since i literally just protectorated them before they westernized) Hopefully, since their tech isn't far enough ahead of their neighbors to allow them to westernize, this means i should be able to annex them before anybody else can westernize off of them.
