Cheers all.

I've been playing Paradox's games since EU1 and like them alot and have been playing Victoria since it came out in Denmark.
There is a problem though. I can't seem to find out how to get a stable economy in Vicky as Denmark in the GC as I think the monumental flaw in my games I set the computer to take care of trade for me, cause I have yet to figure out how to use trade on a newbie level! :eek:o

Can someone help me just to get started as Denmark? I think the money maker in Denmark is its Clipper factory, but I just cant seem to put any POPs into it.

Where do I find that kind of pop goes to what kind of factory?

Cheers all,
DK

I'm playing Denmark too, and the damnedest thing is happening - my budget is telling me that I should have a 1.2 pound surplus with my budget, yet I'm loosing 3 pounds a day. How the hell is that happening?

Here is what my current funds situation is:

Daily balance: -2.97
Income: 20.14
Expenses: 23.11
Daily imports: -2.9
Daily exports: 23.2
Tarriffs: 6.61

You should know that I can't even balance a checkbook, so I have very little idea what I'm doing wrong in this situation. And to make matters worse, everytime my funds hit zero, I have loans automatically taken out. THAT SUCKS! HELP!

1: Dont use auto-trade. The AI messes up and keeps buying expensive stuff. You gotta learn it the hard way :)

2: Factories needs clerks and craftsmen-those are the POPs you need.

3: As mentioned in other threads: Artillery factory, lux furniture and lux clothes factories are the way to go. In my Denmark game I have a 150+ income a day in 1864 with several social reforms in place.

Im a vet of EU1, 2 and HOI and Im still learning the basic of a stable economy. I took Argentina as a learning course for the economy. 1 thing is to be sure to change the Budget and set most of everything to mimimal and increase Taxes. You shouldn't let the AI handle the trading, its really crappy at is. Start by exporting your basic products like for Argentina I export all my surplus Foods and Timber stocks. Also start Researching some indrustry techs so you can build more Factories later.

First of all dont use auto trade as already mentioned.

As Denmark well first of all raise tax, tariff some and defense/army/navy on the lowest you can.
Next take a look at what factories you have and what ressources they need. micromanagement your trades for those ressources (stuff like iron coal sulphur etc).I recommend setting it to buy 10 of each.
From the start you will notice that 2 ressources you need are not able on the worldmarket. Glass and fabric so for now move your workers from those factories to others.
After some months, start trading techs for money to uncivilized countries like China who has a good supply of money. This will keep you from borrowing money and give a "small" surplus :)
research railroad as soon as you can.
When you are able to, start educating your farmers to craftsmen and clerks. again micromanagement those ressources (set the buy so you have a small stock of em). Ill recommend reforming the "sjælland" area first since its where you have most factories.
When you can afford it then build a factory in the "Holstein" are ( I hope you are able to hold it :)). This should be a good money factory. Steamers, luxury clothes/furniture are good for that and also artillery (be certain you can get the ressources to run it though).
research heavily industry and commerce and keep re educating your farmers into clerks and craftsmen.
when you start running out of pops, make iceland and Greenland part of Denmark and place factories there (Iceland has a clerk and craft pop to begin with I think)
If you have made it this far, you should have a stable and good running economy running now, and should be looking for colonies (you need the pops for soldiers) :)

Yeah I used the idea of selling tech to China, Argentina and Brazil too. But it feels like an exploit, so I don't think I'll do that again. Anyone know if this is gonna be fixed in 1.02?
