I know this is not necessarily a "forum" help question, but I have no choice but to post here. I bought EU3 chronicles on Mac App store the other day. The game plays fine. But I can't register my game because I don't think the Mac App store gives out CD-key's or Codes. Can anyone help? I can't ask questions on the EU3 forum because my game isn't registered. Does anyone know how to get a Code for a game purchased through Mac App store?
All current Mac games are written and supported by Virtual Programming www.vpltd.com - you'll need to contact them for a forum registration key.
Note that when your 5-day blackout period expires you will be able to post in the main EU3 forum even without registration, you just won't be able to get to Tech Support, Bug Reports and so on until registered.
I, too, have this problem, as you can see from a previous post. I've spent two days (yeah, really) researching the issue. At the present time, I've not heard an official response from Paradox, even though I've posted a note in their CS system. So, giving them the benefit of the doubt, they could still resolve this for me. But I'm guessing they will say this is not their problem. But maybe I'm being unfair.
I bought HoI3 from Amazon. I received one key to unlock the game, but not the key to register the game on the forum. I contacted Amazon and they have now repeatedly stated that they do NOT have the key. They've given me what they have. I've also contacted VP. In the meantime, I purchased the Semper Fi addon from another vendor, thinking I would get a working forum key. I did - but to access the supplemental strategy guide, I STILL need the core HoI3 key - which Amazon says they do not have.
This is the response I received from VP today:
Paul Lesurf, Apr 17 10:09 (BST):
Both those outlets are provided with keys.
Please check the email receipt from MacGameStore for Semper Fi as that should have a key.
This supersedes HOI3, so you only need the Semper Fi key.
Remcphail, Apr 17 06:09 (BST):
I've now bought two games, made by Paradox, which you ported over to a Mac: Hearts of War 3 and the Semper Fi add-on. I bought the first from Amazon for $9.99 and the second from macgamestore for $19.99. I'm told I have to have a special key to register my game on their forums. Unfortunately, neither sale provided me with a working key to access the support and game forums.
When I asked at Paradox, they said I had to get it from you. Can you send this to me, please?
Apart from being wrong (I do need the core key for HoI3 to access all the HoI3 forums), the response suggests that VP is aware some of their vendors are not providing keys (otherwise Paul would have given me a viable solution for Amazon). I again contacted Amazon. I was told again that all they keys they were given were provided to me. I again checked my Amazon download account - there is only the activation key. So at the bottom of the ninth, this is the score:
VP: Talk to Amazon.
Amazon: Talk to VP or Paradox. We've given you what we have.
I can certainly appreciate Paradox's desire to protect it's intellectual property rights. I can also appreciate VP not wanting to spend their day dealing with this problem. So who gets to deal with it? Me. Because, you know, I bought the game. I should have to deal with it. Right?
Sorry if I sound snide, but I am $30 into this and quite frustrated.
I just rebought EU3 Chronicles on the app store instead of using different suppliers (i.e. had base game through steam and bought the remaining add ons through gamers gate if I remember correctly.) Anyway I figured app store would be the best to buy it again since I get all the add ons in one pack.
So my question like the original poster is, where can I get my new key for my new copy of EU3 Chronicles? Do I need contact VP?
Yes, the answer for you is the same as the answer I gave to the OP, back up I post #2. I'm not sure of the source of your uncertainty, was my post unclear in some way? I'd like to be able to write more clearly so as to help people better - thanks.
No no, your answer was clear I just wanted to double check as the thread was a few weeks old and its amazing how quickly things can change online Would I just contact VP on their customer support part of their site do you reckon? How will I show proof of purchase short of emailing them the email I received from Apple when i bought the game?
Yes, just click on the Support button there, log in there if you have an ID - otherwise create one, and then submit a ticket. Not sure how much proof you'll need, sorry, but I'm sure they'll tell you. I've always had useful responses from them, in a couple of days usually.
