Although relatively new to the game, I think Ive found a valid question. I am playing as Prussia in the grand campaign. Out the gate I conquer and annx the netherlands. At a certain point in the war my factories, formerly profitable, go down the toilet. Though supplied with pops and materials, they produce nothing except a loss every day.

Why??

Thanks for the help.

The world is changing. Maybe you have Luxury Goods Facotories and Luxury goods require gold, tropical wood and other expensive requirements. Unrest in these tropical zones where it is supplied is probably a cause. Or there is so little production of these raw materials that they have become very expensive.

Look at the raw materials. Are the raw materials too expensive for the product?

Try to acquire more of these raw materials so that you are in possession of them and thus can avoid importing.

Or wait until the resources become more plentiful and the price on the world market is driven down.

Or the product you are trying to make has become less profitable. This happens to Machine Parts alot in my game. If you are the only country making machine parts you can make a lot of money. But as the world advances your monopoly on Machine parts will die down, and thus you will make less money since there is so much production of machine parts around the world.

Also note that Since Russia has no national cultures in Netherlands, the Dutch will only work at half efficiency, so they will use the same amount of resources but give back only half the product.
Usually this is still enough to make a healthy profit from foreign factories though.

Thanks for the quick reply. The factories in question are well supplied steel and fabric factories in the Rheinland. They are most definitely Prussian. They do border on formerly dutch lands, but that is the only link I can make. The factories in East Prussia are operating fine.

Did the annexation of The Netherlands mean that the western part of your country suddenly has access to the sea, but is still not connected by land to your capital?
If so you need to assign clippers or steamers to convoy duty. The transport of raw materials to parts of your country that aren't directly connected to your capital is done by magic as long as those parts have no connection to the sea. Click on the Territorial Management button at the top left corner of the main screen, and then click the button at the bottom. Make sure the box for automatic assigment of convoys is checked, then make sure that you are either buying clippers or steamers off the WM or producing them, and the problem should solve itself.
