Hello, I'm not so good at Vicky beacuse I'm more used to HoI, So I wonder can someone give me some sort of "Guide" on how to play Vicky with Prussia, i've played it with Prussia a few minutes before I wrote this, and I was going to conquer the only province in Germany that produces Sulphur, so I attacked, and Bang it becomes a Great war between me and almost every nation in Germany + Austria/Hungary....
So if anyone has any kind of tips or something please give them to me...

Early on, it may be wise to look for expansion into Africa or other remote locations. Once you've built yourself up a bit, then you can set off the tinder box that is Germanic Europe. You might also look around for the guides on how to unite Germany and make that a play goal.

It is possible to wait until right after those alliances end and start small wars with whoever doesn't renew fast enough. This is one way to split up the Italian minors and I believe it works for the germanic minors as well.

Er...the alliances between the German states are permanent, and I beieve the alliances between the Italian states are permanent as well. he only way to rupture them is through war or through direct dissolution, not through time.

You may want to look into conquering Oman. They give you a nice foothold in both Africa and Arabia, and they allow you access into the African interior, not to mention getting you three free colonial buildings.

A quick & dirty thing you could do early on would be to satellite Hanover with your starting armies. They have a defense pact with the UK, which means that if the war lasts more than 3 months the UK hordes will flood & ruin you, but you shouldn't have a problem if you attack Hannover from all directions quickly.

Ignore the British; once you occupy capital & most provs of Hannover he'll usually accept alliance peace in exchange for becoming your satellite. When that happens Hannover will secede all its territory but capital to you as they're your cores, and the UK will go home :)

Right at the beginning, increase your mobilization, mobilize and when you're ready for mobilization, deploy troops on strategically good positions and declare war on one of the minors in the Hessen area, I think Nassau has a defensive pact with Austria that excludes Prussia. Annex most of them, satellite Bavaria, possibly Wurttemberg and Baden (I usually satellite them, then give them back the provinces that would allow them to have a complete state under control (Baden is 3, Wurttemberg 5, Bavaria 5, I like my country tidy :D ), that way you'll get them later after they had a chance to develop somewhat). That way you'll get 900-1200 prestige, connect the western part of your country to your capital, gain a fabric factory (Sachsen), and solve your problems with sulphur for a long time. OTOH, you'll also get ~20 BB points, but it's manageable.

I find that quite often the small German nations have rebellions, and their governments change. because of this their alliances are also cancelled. Attack those ones immediatly. It will take a long time, but it's one way to gain a few German territories. The easiest way is just to unify Germany, or to all out attack the German minors.

I prefer taking out all the minors right at the beginning of the game. Prussia is in an extremely strong position in relation to its neighbors, just DOW a minor whose alliance with Austria is invalid against Prussia. You will outnumber all their troops put together.

Annex all one province minors, and take all land but capitol from the others.

This is best in the long run for BB. You only get one BB for declaring war, and it lowers your BB when you have the unification event you're striving for, because you annex less provinces than you would have had you not taken out so many at the beginning.

In the first half of 19th century Germany struggles to unify. French are on the borders looking hungrily. Russia and austria are not terrible neighbours.

(I prefer to cripple US and UK as much as possible in any game i play so the stuff in double parenthesis {{ }} is not nessessary for germany and applies to any country that wants to cripple uk and us provided that country is civilized

Thanks to the VIP Mod and Darkrenown's Germany unification mod the unification of germany is a piece of cake.

With this Mod conservative Empire makes no sense. You have to live through Lib revolts and killing off your disgrunted bretheren is never too fun.

So here is a perfect game plan for the unification events.

DO not accept the london protocol. keep relation with netherlands clean for now as you do not need them in your hair for now. If you sign it they are liable to attack when say france dows you. given they are a pushover. but you do not need them when your are busy.

0 Give to austria your border provinces with france together with one of your core provinces on their border for NOVI SAD and 4 of their provinces that directly border Russia. ask for some large sum of cash for this too. this acomplishes 3 things. 1. france has now no border with you and out of sight out of mind. 2. you gained Novi Sad which you can release as Hungary and thus make sure you have popular unification. 3 you gained more provinces !!! and all of them border with russia and austria got less border with russia. russian tsar likes you and cant stand happsburg and soon they will have no reason to fight them at all.

0.5 You begin with 20 000 gold. immideately choose "all parties" and "universal suffrage" and begin researching a culture tech for prestiege. keep researching culture untill you can not,. you need the prestiege to get stuff from world market and to fund with prestige your culturereich

1. on jan 1 1836 mobilize and begin moving your troops to the borders of the minors. I usualy disjoin the artillery and guard divisions that are coupled together since they move at different speeds.

2. dissolve alliance with frankfurt au main which has a defensive alliance with austria invalid against Prussia. cancel military access too (i do not remeber them having it)

2.1 make sure you can build a few cavalry hussar units every so often. I only build Hussars because they are the fastest unit in the game. this an army of 200K hussars led by a positive speed and negative attrition leader will reliably scare away armies and (buy wine and what else needed. Use your own soldiers for hussars. non national hussars will defect and you never want that.

2.2 make sure your canned food ans small arms is set to sell above 51 if you factories in these products are profitable. if they are not profitable then do not sell em as you need em.

2.3 put your slider to nave maintenance to 0. buy 20 clipper parts and build 5 clipper transports untill you got about 30 transports. make sure not to get steamers invention from anyone untill you have these. i usually do not bother with steamers till later in the game.

3. on march 24th declare war on frankfurt and position your divisions from the mobilization pool in such a way as to march one division into each of the minors territory from day 1 of the war. One or 2 minors will refuse to fight so make sure you do not waste troops having them sit at the capitals you do not need.

4. by this time you are a democracy, so as you annex a minor and immediately release them. this ensures they are a democracy and bavaria baden and wurtzemberg now can not fight to your territory through them. release all except for the iron producing ones. you need that iron.

5. after all the minors are annexed except for frankfurt move all your troops to bavaria and sattelite them. then wurtzembers and then baden.

5.2 give new france bordering provinces of baden to austria for their noncores on russian border

5.5 demobilize. increase mobilization pool

{{5.5.5 ***** Read at the bottom of the post for ways to cripple UK and US. At this point in the strategy for germany unification this would be the perfect timing THIS strategy is very non role playing, very gamish behaviour, do not do it if you feel like your country would have not done this. }}


6. release hungary

6.5 keep increasing your mob pool. DOW the small countries that stayed away from the fight. one of these is allied with austria and austria will dishonor your alliance even if you are at 200 with them so first things first you have to move all your mobilized armies through austrian territory in one group heading straight for the capital taking their national provinces if you can take back some of yours that you traded to them. and leaving your guard divisions in them. 2-4 national provinces and the capital should get you a capitulation. dont drag it more then 3 months or austria will mobilize.

kill of the annoying minor that brought you the war with austria and turn all of their population ito labourers and send them to the salt mines.

7. put 3 guard divisions on separate boats and send 1 to greenland, 1 to iceland and one to Danish carribean holdings.

DOW holstein. annex hollstein and take denmark. take the 3 icelands mentioned above, and either take ribe and as many provinces from denmark as you can or sattelite denmark. I do not like satteliting denmark as that makes United Scandinavia an unlikely event. I like united scandinavia. keep your boats in those provinces island provinces. you might need to evacuate them soon.

7. increase your relations again and ally with austria.

8. get all of austria non core provinces from them for your cores. that you can sacrifice on their border. DO NOT take yet any provinces bordering Medditeranian

9. Go and spend 3 diplo points and cancel military access with each minor. dissolve alliances forst since that does not cost a diplo action but mil acces does. take out baden first. same with wurz. DO not take out BAVARIA just yet.. DEMOBILIZE. and THEN release baden to decrease your bad boy. otherwise half of your mobilized soldiers will join baden. release wurzember.

10. Collect 4 DIPlO points

{{{ at this time if you followed the strategy stated in 5.5.5 then send a boat to australia. othervise ignore}}}

DOW Hannover. UK should be knee deep in china. and not send troops to your lands. take all the territory of hannover and accept a peace deal they propose as you may not get enough weapon score on them to sattelite them since you need to take territory from UK

While your soldiers on hannovers turf still lose 100 prestiege and DOW them. rinse and repeat untill they are down to 2 provinces

ANNEX them. offer UK Danish west indies. if they deny offer first gothab in addition and then add rejkyavik too if they are pissy. If they are too pissy screw them and wait for them to send down their dogs.

they accepted a few times in my games. otherwise this might get expensive for the polish ukrainian and hungarian people. as they become reinforcement for your mobilized armies. UK will land armies of 60 to 140 k on your coast.

by now i had 34 to 42 mobilized divisions and the Uk forces were just running into deathtraps here and there. they reliably landed in Danzig.

After UK accepts peace there is only 1 thing to do

Finish buying all the austrian non cores for your cores. This is done for 3 reasons. to decrease badboy from annexation of austria and to increase the number of provinces you can relase as sattelites to lover your badboy after the unification, and the 3d reason is the best. you can make hungary and sardinia or 2 sicilies your research assistants. by every so often traiding them their core provinces for their tech and cash.

Gather 2-3 diplo points.

attack Bavaria and annex it.

in about 1 minute you should have annexed all the german minors again plus austria. hungary should have grown to a decent size.

I check my roster as to where my reserve divisions are from and launch the ones whose home provinces i am about to release

now i release Ukraine. Croatia. in my games i got with this as early as 1844 and as late as 1848. Sometimes i release italian provinces depending on badboy. and depending on my taxes. Those north italians tend to go balistic fast and rebel one after the other.
i think 1844 date was because all the time i was at war with someone. this gives you diplo bonus. and the 1848 was because UK refused to settle after hannover incident for a few years. Mileage may wary.

Now i need diplo points. france now is very pissed often. Your bad boy is very High. a democratic germany formed. so i quickly release some 2 province minor in the middle of my territories and give them the france bordering provinces. Do not release baden as they will take all of your south german regiments from the mobilization pool. Screwy Baden.

depending on your badboy you might want to release the Czech Republick or whatever it is called. most often I do not relase them and just make sure that i hold elections all the time and make them very very unhappy and make them revolt and subdue them with my polish or hungarian hussrs. this essentially makes them both depopulate their home provinces

If you have good relations with russia buy estonia, latvia and litva. poland and finland would be good to buy. If you can afford it

Go find some large province number uncivilized country somewhere. like egypt. take to them your armies and take all their provinces but their capital.

My badboy around this time i thing was in the 40s. so in 5 years you can annex the capital and release them and voilla badboy went down. hopefully france does not dow you. as they have tech superiority since you have beein on culture learning spree thier armies are superior. hopefully your huge mobilization pool is a deterrent.

just about 1858 i make sure im on good terms with US and have my 30 clipper transports

when the ACW starts i have 30 divisions ready by virginia and in a little while i take south strting from texas. here are where 200 000 hussars come handy together with 40 divisions of mobilized infantry.after the civil war ends you end up keeping the south. increase your relations with US and you can sell em a province for 135 K plus techs. i kept all the coastline for a while from then on effectively crippling their immigration as their only entrance point was new york. this is the game where sardinia piedmont ended up with california so when i got it from them for the italian territories it was 1/3 italian and 2/3 mexican

{{{{ in the early game. about now. I try to cripple US and UK by denying them territories that they are colonizing. To cripple US 2 things are needed.

a. You must Guarantee independence to China and Khiva. China because UK will have a war with them. Khiva because russia will sell alaska to us after its complettions just as sure as it will DOW khiva in about 10 minutes of play on extra fast after UK will get into the Opium Wr with china.
you must use 2 of initial transports to deliver 2 of your cavalry divisions to both east and west coast of canada. Once there the cavalry should wait untill you agree to honor the gurantee to CHINA and get into a colonial war with uk and you then should take out claim building on the west coast that are inside the US territory first and then those that are in canada territory.

Your cavalry may safely pass through enemy colonial building without capturing it as long as the unit passes through and does not stop in the territory.

make sure NOT to capture every single colonial building on the canada side as that will deny UK the pleasure of developing the territories for you. capture only the territories that if they border an empty country where Uk will build a colony claim for you that there is another territory owned by UK so they have access to the territories.

b - purchaise of either denver or grand junction from mexico and purchaise of texas colonial building from texas.if you can help it purchaise the california coast from Mexico. California Coast is a magnet for population so make sure that you intend to keep it if you intend to purchaise/ capture it as it will become a colony of your national culture very very fast draining your mainland very very fast. in one game Sadinina Piedmont lost most of their population because they got into pastry war with france and mexico gave california coast to sardinia piedmont. The population fled to the golden state and S-P sat there without people.

for this your relations should be high with Mexico. But you may be able to wait a little and not proceed with this on the 5.5.5 step and deal with it later.
