The Choson One achievement should have fired 100 years ago and I can't figure out why it won't.
  • I can't find any eastern religion (Confucian, Shinto, Theraveda, Mahayana, Vajrana) provinces that I don't own. I confirmed this by counting the number of provinces that I own for each religion against the number of provinces listed for it in the ledger. Tengri doesn't matter for the achievement, correct? I know it's in the Pagan rather than Eastern religion group, but it's geographically eastern and I'm grasping at straws at this point to guess why it isn't firing.
  • I tag switched from Korea to Manchu to Qing, but my (possibly mistaken) understanding of the criteria is that that shouldn't matter. It certainly didn't prevent the Turtles All the Way Down achievement from firing.
  • Some Confucian provinces are owned by my colony (Manchurian Australia) rather than directly by me. Would that really prevent this 'cheeve from firing?
Here are the achievement's requirements:
achievement_choson_one = {
id = 179

possible = {
NOT = { num_of_custom_nations = 1 }
normal_or_historical_nations = yes
normal_province_values = yes
ironman = yes
start_date = 1444.11.11
tag = KOR
}

happened = {
NOT = {
any_province = {
religion_group = eastern
NOT = { country_or_non_sovereign_subject_holds = KOR }
}
}
}
}

I'd really like to figure out how to resolve this quickly before I end up having to destroy Russia yet again just to prevent the drain on my Mandate. Not that it's difficult to do after breaking up their alliance with 1500 dev Austria, but conquering Russia for the fifth time is absolutely tedious. (Yes, I could release a nation between Russia and me to avoid the Mandate penalty, but some of those provinces are Confucian so I need to keep them until the achievement fires. In retrospect, the Mandate binds your hands way more than it's worth. Now that I've got Qing of China and used the emperor's decree for the Ninja Turtles achievement, I don't see myself ever claiming the Mandate again. It is a great CB though for repeating taking all you can eat at the Chinese buffet of territory at -50% warscore cost though...)

For ref: I've uploaded the save file and some mapmode screenshots. This playthrough is in v1.22.2 with all expansions enabled.

Subject should count, at least that's what the description says

I guess you either missed Ceylon or some province flipped because of the royal marriage event (that's what happened to me - first Bahmanis and then the Ottomans, had to fight them both over a single province)

I don't believe you can tag switch.
This line:
NOT = { country_or_non_sovereign_subject_holds = KOR }
should mean that each province must belong to the tag KOR, which is not you. The criteria under possible are generally starting conditions.

I did miss Ceylon for a bit, but resolved that a while ago. I'll do yet another visual scan to see if there are some oddly-placed religious islands due to RM events. My manual province count matched the numbers for each religion in the ledger, but it's very easy to miscount with so many provinces.

Compare with the code for the turtle achievement:

achievement_turtles_all_the_way_down = {
id = 206

possible = {
NOT = { num_of_custom_nations = 1 }
normal_or_historical_nations = yes
normal_province_values = yes
ironman = yes
start_date = 1444.11.11
tag = KOR
}

happened = {
has_global_modifier_value = {
which = ship_durability
value = 0.35
extra_shortcut = yes
}
}
}

Only country condition is to start with Korea in the possible part for the Turtle achievement.

For the Choson One, the happened part means that you still should be Korea to have the achievement (and you also need to have start your ironman with Korea, as for Turtle).

The good news is that this achievement has not the line: has_switched_nation = no, so you may try to release Korea as your vassal and play it, depending of when you switched to Manchu/Quing, Korea might still have cores of most of your country (maybe too much to be released), and it will be simpler to start from there than to restart from the start.

As said above, releasing Korea could work. I actually think you could release Korea and NOT play as them, just give them every eastern religion province. The criteria says nothing about you having to own the provinces.

Just to be clear, the conditions under possible are used by the game to display achievements when you click on the button in the upper right part of the screen. So it you don't start your ironman with Korea, you will never see the Turtle and Choson achievements here.

The happened part of the code is the conditions to have the achievement activated, if it is on the above list. In the case of the Turtle one, there is no condition of country, while there is one for the Choson one.

You can't tagswitch, this also true with the Gothic Invasion achievement. Those provinces have to be owned by tag KOR. It's a consequence of how the achivement was coded. I'm sorry.

You can still try to release Korea and feed them all necessary land.

Yes it should work even if you don't play at them, but it's maybe not so simple to feed a vassal with 90-95% of your provinces.

I had read that that line only applies to your starting tag, but maybe that info was incorrect.
That line is in the happen clause. That means you need to fulfill all those points to get the achievement. Everything in the possible clause are your starting condition.
