How do I actually organize the new conquests with the clan?
Typically as Shimazu you can go vs the weaker of the 2 clans or take on the Otomo... but after you conquer and are at peace what is the best way to split your newly conquered provinces among your vassals?

I know it's important to keep them happy and also not too overpowered but am i not supposed to conquer a whole set of "same color" provinces so that I can create a daimyo? Sorry I just got the game and don't remember the names (Korii?) but it looks similar to Crusader Kings with Counts and Dukes?

Once I identify a set of provinces of the same color (tell me the name of this set!) you can assign them to a vassal and he'll become daimyo? You have to revoke the "count" title first?

Well I hope you understand what I was meaning... I'd love to have my core in satsuma but the guy won't give it back to me, I thought by making him daimyo somewhere else that would help but don't know how to.

What is the best way to organize your vassals then? Thanks (and sorry for being so confused!)

Yes, the historical provinces (Kuni) each represent a Daimyo (Duke) title. One of the Paradox guys said that if you give a vassal one of you Daimyo titles, they get a bonus cap to their retinue. I'm not sure of the details, so maybe someone can confirm.

A Kori is the individual little provinces which is the title "Kokujin" (Count).

Great... but differently from Crusader Kings, I can't seem to understand how to make someone Daimyo and how to make him Kokujin.
I think you can make a daimyo if you give him all the Kuni (same color provinces that make a Kuni) ? Because this is what I don't understand... All i see is I can give them territories but the interface doesn't tell me whether I want them to be Kokujin or Daimyos.

Also is there a way to take back a land from one of my Daimyos or Kokujins? (i.e. trade.. I give you this land, you give me this land)

Agree that the interface is a little unclear, but in the list where you choose which title to grant provinces usually have that little province icon(Circle with a few dots i think. Same on a characters overview page) next to them in the list, while damiyo titles have ... nothing i believe (dont have the game here to check right now)?

Anyways I think there are no Daimyo areas with the same name as single provinces so thats how i usually differentiate. :)

Good thing to make a little clearer in the next patch !

Yea, that is something I don't understand either. Dunno the real effects on the different types of territory divisions, let alone if they are color-coded.

To be honest, I'm a bit lost amid Kunis, Koris, Demesne... Even in the Scenario Selection window, I can't understand whether the colors mean something or not.

To be honest, I'm a bit lost amid Kunis, Koris, Demesne... Even in the Scenario Selection window, I can't understand whether the colors mean something or not.

When you read the history, there are plenty of refenereces to things such as the Oda clan being in Owari. However, Owari is a large area which is made up of serveral smaller areas. In this example Owari is a Kuni, and the smaller areas (such as Yamada and Niwa) are each a Kori. In the game, you will want to see who is in control of each Kori (for the purpose of plots etc). To help us tell one from the other, and to give us a quick visual reference on the map, each one is broken down by color according to who is in control of it. This break down is called a Demesne, and we are encouraged to keep it to a max of 5 Kori.

Think of a Kuni as a provience in the country, and each Kori as a county or region withing that provience.

Mauso,

I really appreciate it. I will try to move forward, but honestly, it's a bit disappointing because neither the manual nor the in-game hints say a word about this.

That's why I asked for a mini-speechless-tutorial or additional tool-tips/hint windows explaining all this type of administration, territorial division and exotic titles.

Regards

The map tells you the Kuni but the interface doesn't tell you how to make someone Daimyo.
I suppose granting this title to someone is a HUGE thing to do. I think those 3 dots in the circle clarify the issue in the interface of granting titles.

You have the top region in grey and those below belong to the same kuni. You'll have to give a guy all kori as kokunji and then the grey region becomes brown (without the 3 dots) and that's when you make him Daimyo. What puzzles me is: Am I supposed to give the daimyo of Hizen (HUGE territory) to different Kokunji and THEN give the daimyo of Hizen to a guy or ... or give this guy ALL the regions?

The game probably works as intended but without a guide on how to do these diplomatic things I am really in the dark.
Can't some of you guys, probably expert in Crusader Kings publish such a guide with SS and explanations?

Something easy... for example: I want to prepare plot vs X.
Step a) do this
Step b) do that

I want to break the relations between Clan X and Clan Y
Step a) do this
Step b) do that

I want to improve my relations with this Daimyo who's my subject but rebellious
Step a) do this
Step b) do that

etc. etc... I think it would be great!

The map tells you the Kuni but the interface doesn't tell you how to make someone Daimyo.

Granting a Daimyo title to a vassal is done exactly the same way as granting a Kokujin title. Daimyo titles are in the same list, you just gotta find the name of the big daimyo province (kuni) and select it, instead of a regular little province title.

If I conquer a whole Kuni, what do you recommend me to do? If it's 4 provinces, should I give 3 kokujin and 1 daimyo or just set the daimyo and let him name his own kokujin?

See these are the kind of things we need a guide for, imo.

I don't think the Daimyo title really gives your vassals control of every smaller province within. I just give a small title to a vassal, then add the daimyo title. He still runs that one little kori.

What I don't know is if you give titles within that Daimyo's area afterward, does this new vassal become the Daimyo's? Or does he remain mine?

That's the whys of my question in power retainment and containment.
I already suppose that if you give a kokunjin title that guy is not your vassal, he's the vassal of the daimyo of that kuni. That's how it should work at least.

So far I have been reluctant to give away any Daimyo titles but I haven't had a clan big enough for it to make a huge difference. I suspect that this is important to ensure succession for one - if you have your heir as one of your strongest Diamyos. I haven't seen any indication of what bonuses Diamyos get or why there is any benefit to handing out those titles rather than keeping them all for yourself.

You should title your threads with something related to the post rather than something as generic as "need help". Something like: "Need Giving Away Titles Help" or "Giving Away Titles - Advantages/Disadvantages"

Well you're right I suppose but I can't change the thread title...

anyway my question remains. When I conquer a new Kuni, what should I do?
Should i give the entire Kuni to a guy I trust or should I give one kokujin each to a different guy?

Essentially how the hell do i give the title of Daimyo to someone? By giving him all the Kori of that Kuni? Will he then nominate his own vassals??

I find as long as they're your own family, especially brothers, then you're good. The extra retinue helps a lot when fighting on multiple fronts, plus, once they're Daimyo, they can make vassals for newly conquered territories themselves, which means they'll keep on on conquering territories in wars.
