naval units are classified into capital ships, screen ships and some who are independent like submarines. if i build a fleet, the ratio between capital ships and screen ships should be 1:1 to have a 100% effectivity. (a battleship needs a light cruiser or destroyer fpr example and submarines doesn't, they can drive alone and be effective too)

how and where can i mod, that a battleship is no longer a capital ship. it should be a screen ship, like a light cruiser, for example, or be independent like submarines.

i´ve searched everywhere, but found anything. please help

thanks

That is not something that can be modified by the user.

the ratio between captal and screens affect the battle modificator... for example a ratio of 1:1 is 100%. if you have 6 battleship (capitals) an 5 light cruisers (screens) the ratio is only 90% and so on. you can see it by holding cursor on the place in the fleet perspective right under the commander (looks like 5/5 for example)

Well, that really is hard-coded, but I do recall a thread on using the transport slot for various models of battlecruisers (or any other ship for that matter), since transports are not considered capital ships by the game engine. It would then assume that any ship (with the appropriate unit stats, of course) would be "independent." Hope this helps you out a bit! ;) The obvious problem is using the proper sprites to model the ships, and the counters would no longer model these ships correctly.

TPs with improved combat stats will still be treated as TPs by the AI and, I assume, the game engine when it comes to transporting troops and engaging enemies.
I suppose it could be fun to have a BC capable of carrying an entire combat division, which would explain why it refused to attack enemy ships.

hmm thanks a lot for the replies... but i neither can read the assembly nor i would have a BC who tranports my divisions...

:p

my question results fron the modern scenario mod... the nuclear subs are there capital ships and i thought as much there are only some clicks needed to change it to "independent". well it seems a little bit different....
