This events doesn't work. I don't get an error report or anything. I had to make my own major_event folder for this and I don't know if that would cause the events not to fire.

Well, if you made your own file, have you added it to the list of event files that will be loaded? Either in setup if a new game, or the bottom of the savegame if an ongoing game.

[edit: maybe this was unnecessarily easy, but I just wanted to make sure that every angle was covered. It is easy to test if the event has loaded, just open cheat screen (F12) and type event 99998 and see if it fires - then it is the trigger that hasn't gone off, if it doesn't fire it isn't loaded]
