Asking for advice, 'cause I haven't played HoI4 for a quite long time already, for like an whole year around.

I'm usualy Soviet Union/Germany player (Sometimes I play minors too), and with the new supply mechanics and the new Soviet Focus tree, I'm kind of confused what is the best method to approach with the Focus tree as Soviet Union?

Usualy, in the old focus tree, I'd just mostly Rush all of the Industry Focuses, then do the purge and then rush towards the Focus which gives me War declaration options on Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq, grab those lands quickly before Germany declares war. By the time I start war with Germany, Id have Turkey, Iran (Puppet), Iraq (Also puppet), Sweden and Republican Spain on my side ready to tear Germany appart.

With the new Soviet Focus tree, I'm honestly confused with all the new stuff and mechanics, the new Focus tree seems alot tricker so far, so I dont know which approach should be the best for the Soviet focus tree to play similarly to how I used to play Soviet Union as how I usualy played it (Described above).

Same with Supply tbh, I rarely had any issues with supply. Now I try to rearrange my army into the borders, I get constant "Supply low" warnings.

Just did a USSR playthru. For me, I did purge first. Based on the wisdom that it is always best to get it out of the way.

In hindsight this might not have been so good, maybe, maybe not.

You will have supply issues in Finland. You can build a supply hub up there or just let it be or not garrison troops over there.

Elsewhere, you should be ok. The main thing is to turn on motorization and 2nd level motorization when at war. Build up your rail ways by clicking on the rail icon in the supply mode on each hub. you want to make sure that each hub on the front has good rails to it.

If you are more than say 5 tiles from a hub, you get very little supply. Nothing you can do about it other than build a hub or do motorization or just let the supply be bad. Or build a port nearby if it is coastal.

I don't think you have time to any external foreign stuff. Like purge will take you to like 1938 maybe. You can snag a few focuses here and there.

Do the focus to help Spain. and the focus to help China (communist china has no airbases...so that was a screw up on my part).

You will be too weak internally to invade anyone. And your tanks will be crap to start. absolute garbage.

It is a very interesting game but also...well...it's a challenge with a very powerful focus tree later on.
