Canals could be a great feature in making a city unique and interesting, as well as controlling natural disasters and terraforming, but I can't stand the ugly way they look if you try to link them to a river, lake or sea.

It would be nice if;

1. There were a more natural looking, sloped end piece to attach to natural waterways.
2. You could link a quay to the edge of a canal, rather than having to leave a messy gap. (Perhaps some sort of lock gate building. Draw a section of quay and it plonks a canal in the middle, similar to how you place dams.)
3. A natural looking end cap for quays, something less abrupt than the current vertical cut off.
