Yes, I agree. Navies will need to be essential in the Pacific Theatre (Not so much the European one, but definitely Pacific), as their were tons of naval battles, carriers played a very important part in the war, and many of the land campaigns in the end were amphibious assaults and naval/air bombardment. Land will be important to America and Japan too, however, as the Japanese will need to use their land forces to take Southeast Asia and China, and the Americans will need theirs for Europe. They will also both need powerful land forces to defend all of those islands, but the air and sea units will do most of that. ;)

Belgium and The Dutch part of Flanders held out much longer then that.

Yes, I agree with your German strategy. I would work on my land forces, then air force, and then naval. I would probably attempt Barbarossa, though.. But it would depend on the situation elsewhere too. I would also like to see Germany have a successful Operation Sea Lion. :D :D

For Japan, I can't decide which to do.. :) The Navy will be very important for fighting in the Pacific, but the land forces will be needed to fight in China, possibly Russia, and Southeast Asia. And the Air Force would also be very vital, as I would need it for all of those air battles.. Hmmm..

For England, I would probably go Air Force, Land, then lastly Naval. I would probably worry more about the Air Force so that I could defend from Germany and all of that and the Land forces to fight in Europe. The Navy would be more for fighting in the Pacific, but I would probably worry more about Europe if I was England.

With Italy, I would work on Land forces and Air Force the most. I would build up the Navy too, and that would be mainly for holding vital points in the Mediterranean Sea. I would try to ally with Spain and Turkey too. :)

For Soviet Union, I would probably forget about navies almost completely and worry about LAND LAND LAND, and then AIR AIR AIR. :D :D

Not entirely true, and taken out of context. First off, a few danish soldiers died fighting the germans crossing the border, because they didnt know/aknowledge that Denmark had surrendered. And I seem to recall that the Royal Guard defended the castle in Copenhagen. Second, Germany gave the Danes an ultimatum. 'Can you hear those bombers above your capital? Want to hear the bombs drop? No? Then surrender.'.

Besides, Denmark had been playing the 'true neutral' neighbour, removing any forces Denmark might have had at the border. The politicians where absolutely sure that Germany would never invade Denmark. Actually Denmark had alot more armed forces at the border to Germany in WWI than in WWII... Go figure... :)

Oi... Belgium won't be easy to play, lying pinned between France & Germany and they will get into trouble if they choose either side of the conflict. And as history as shown, being neutral doesn't help much. As Dolf said: "Neutral? My arse :D"

Sure they have some resources at hand in the Congo. The Belgians in Congo held out much longer than the mainland Belgian forces.

No no no no! Danger Will Robinson!! Danger!!!

England: Navy, Air Force, Army!

As England I intend to concentrate the bulk of my resources on my fleet (lots of destoryers, frigates, and an air craft carriers).

Assuming that France falls to Germany and England gets driven from the continent then my first priority will be churching out masses of destroyers to guard my convoys and maintaining the superiority of the the fleet. While I frantically try and get the US to join the war, my ships will prevent that low land rat from setting foot on the home islands. So long as I keep the resources from the Empire flowing into my factories, then I can sustain the war indefinitely.

I'm seriously planning to have 3 air divisions for every ground division. :)

Airplanes can't take ground, though. They can help to soften enemy defences, true, but without an army to follow up the air's success, all those shiny planes aren't terribly useful ;)

A very difficult question to answer and totally dependant on the country played and your stratergy for that country in my view.

One thing I would consider if using a defensive "wear them down" stratergy (England?) is that an Army will only come into play if the enemy can get close - so Airforce and Navy here. But the same question with Russia woudl be Airforce and Army.
Again if you consider USA defensive I would plan on Navy then Airforce then Army.

But if you change the stratergy you change the priority.

Cheers, Ice:cool:

So that's the IJN in Japanese? Cool.

I personally am partial to air power as long as you have enough the ground troops to go with them and destroy the enemy remnants. Depending on the effectiveness of AA I might be able to pull off an all-land strategy.

Cold War joke:
A Soviet general runs into an old friend, another general, in Paris. He asks his friend: "So, who won the air war?"

Well from the limited SS weve seen Navy looks to have a big part.
If your an empire type that has to ship in your raw material, lots of merchants and escorts are going to to vital to survival.
If your area of effect is continental your still goin to need a navy to counteract your enemy getting there suppies. If you can starve a country of its resources a large ground force wont be important either.
